The person I interviewed was Anthony (Last Name), he is my
grandfather. He was born in Manhattan on May 13, 1938.
He is of the Italian decent. His grandparents came to America in
the early 1900's from Southern Italy. They were poor farmers and
they came to America for the land of oppertunity.

My grandfather was raised in the Bronx. He had an older brother,
older brother, my uncle Lucus, his older sister, my aunt
Rosanna, and his younger sister, my aunt Kathy. He was
third born of four children. He graduated at Theodore
Roosevelt High School. It was very different from our schools
today. They were taught classical music every day and used
ink wells for writing. Their schools had swimming pools too.
Things at home were very different too. Microwaves were not
invented yet. They didn't even have a refrigerator. They had ice
boxes. They bought a block of ice and put it at the bottom of
the ice box to make the food cool. After school the kids hung out on
the corner. They didn't have the toys that we have today. They
made scooters out of 2 x 4's and cardboard boxes. They played
marbles and kick the can. My grandfather met my grandmother
at the corner candy store when he was 16 years old. He started
writing poetry, he is a really good poet.

in 1957 my grandfather joined the service. His country is
very important to him. He wanted to be ready to help his country
if they needed him. His uncle Don and his uncle John noth
fought in the second world war. In the service he was in the
arillery. He deove a tank. The tank carried a large cannon. He was
also in the military polive in Germany. He had to keep close watch on
the American service men.
