vs. Sadler loss

This weekend we were shorthanded on regular players. We would like to thank Daniel Bays for helping out on Saturday. We would also like to thank Toby Daniels and Dwight Grubb for stepping in on Sunday. Thanks goes out to Timmy Grant for filling out too.

We were still able to win the Winner's Bracket and finish 2nd with a 4-2 record.

We opened up the tourney with Hitbombs.com. This game was a struggle for us to put up runs. To make a long story short in the bottom of the seventh we were down 10-8 but we had HRs left. Cecil Mills hit a leadoff homer and then Scott Crook, Will Daniels and Kevin Bays all got hits to start off the inning. This brought Daniel Bays up with us behind one run. Daniel came through with a big Homerun to give us the opening round win.

Our second game came against Buffalo Wild Wings. We played fairly well. We came on late in the game to take a 7 or 8 run lead and win by that margin. There was an altercation with the BWW pitcher. A couple of our batters had hit the middle and he went off. He threw his glove and cussed and made a big scene about hitting the middle. I would just like to say to him that noone hit at him. We don't try to hit the pitcher. We just try to go to the left or right of him to get a hit.

Next game came a rematch from the past weekend against Sadler Trucking. Sadler beat us for 2nd place last weekend at the Playmaker's Classic 32-27. This time was different. We hit the ball well and played very good defence. We came out on top 23-15. This game moved us on to the finals of the Winner's Bracket.

Sunday's have not been our best day. This day was not much different. We started off the day against a very good Madco team. They had picked up Ricky Terrill and Tim Cruise. We hit the ball really well this game. We were down 16-4 at one time and kept nudging closer and closer. In the bottom of the sixth we exploded to win the game 29-18.

We then had to wait on a winner. Sadler made it back to us. They had picked up Greg Winchester and Rock (B&B Verns). The game was a close one but we really seemed to play like the tired team not Sadler's. We didn't have much fire in us at all. Sadler was ahead most of the game. We never could really get over the hump. It was a very close game until the bottom of the 6th when Sadler scored a bunch and went ahead 21-14. We couldn't overcome the deficit in the top of the 7th. Game 1: Sadler.

In the if game the storm came. The wind was blowing unreal. We had the wind taken out of us after the first loss. We would like to say hats off to Sadler in this game. They came out on fire and never let up. After a couple innings of hurricane like winds the rains came. Sadler really played well and ended the game early.

All in all we played well. A second place finish in a strong tournament is not bad at all. We can't wait to get everyone there and play again.
