2. Astrology in Antiquity
The Roman astrologer Firmicus Matternus, writing in the 4th century ad some 800 years after Plato, described a birth chart for the universe in which all of the planets were in their dignities, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn being in their diurnal dignities. He did not consider this to be a literal chart for the creation for following in the Platonic tradition; he believed the universal was eternal and its existence was punctuated by great cataclysms in time.
Firmicus related that he copied the chart from a book called Myriogenesis by the Alexandrian hermetic writer Aesculapius. The purpose of the chart was purely symbolic – to show the planets in their most perfect positions as an inspirational model for the perfect human being.
According to Firmicus, ‘the divine wise men of old invented this birth-chart of the universe so it would be an example for astrologers to follow in the charts of men.’
In the universe we live in, a sense of duality exists. This is evidenced by the fact that the number two is so prevalent in our lives. In order just to exist, we must experience:-
When a planet is exalted, it operates with the greatest strength; it would be propitious to assume that when the planets are in their exalted positions, the universe operates at its greatest strength and brings with it the greatest amount of positivity imaginable. During these times, miracles are truly manifested in our reality and master avatars walk the Earth, teaching mankind the highest ideals they should aspire to.
Before we can truly appreciate the light within us, we must first perceive that which is dark, which is also a part of our universe. In fact, if one were to look out into the sky to observe the stars on a clear night, he would note there is a vast amount of empty blackness that surrounds the stars in our universe. With this concept in mind, one must first acknowledge the dark forces before he can ever appreciate the light, thereby allowing him to transcend his physical universe and move onto other realities.
The Cabala is a system of Jewish mysticism, stemming in part from ‘chariot’ visions of first century mystics, in part from Gnosticism and Neoplatonism, in part from the theological speculations of medieval Spanish Jews, and in part from later thinkers. For many centuries the Cabala was the accepted form of mysticism and theology within Judaism, but now it is for the most part considered one of the esoteric disciplines. The Cabala is not something that can be learned overnight, but must be studied for years before illumination is gleaned from a most elusive concept. Most people who study the Cabala are familiar with the Tree of Life Trestleboard, but there is another Trestleboard that is completely opposite to the Tree of Life. While the Tree of Life provides illumination to the soul, the Tree of Death gives us an insight into the darkness of the soul.

The recent cultural ages that mankind has experienced are as follows:-
Cultural Age Geographical Location Taurus Egypt & Mesopotamia Man experienced himself as a child of the divine. Aries Greece & Rome Man experienced himself as an individual in relation to the divine. Pisces Europe Man experiences himself as a free personality. In view of the lack of written documentation upon which to form a judgement of cultural life prior to 3,000bc, it is necessary to rely upon the descriptions of clairvoyants, who have been able to look back into the far distant past, such as Madame Blavatsky, the founder of the Theosophical Society, and Rudolf Steiner, the founder of the Anthroposophical Society. Other clairvoyants have also spoken of their visions of the remote past, of the existence long ago of a majestic civilisation located in the region of the Atlantic Ocean. Plato’s Timaeus also refers to the existence of Atlantis, described by an Egyptian priest as a long lost island in the West. The priest intimated – in his account to the Greek sage Solon – the lost continent had existed some 9,000 years previously, prior to its submergence in a great flood.
Among various descriptions of Atlantis, Rudolf Steiner links the progress of Atlantean civilisation directly with the precession of the equinoxes through the signs of the zodiac, or rather with the parallel development with cultural ages. The possibility is offered of arriving at definite dates for the history of Atlantis, which unfolded through seven cultural ages and then became destroyed by the flood. From Rudolf Steiner’s description – based on clairvoyance of this event of a flood, there was indeed a catastrophe in which the continent of Atlantis became submerged, sinking down into the depths of the Atlantic Ocean. Prior to the submergence of Atlantis, an exodus from the continent took place under the leadership of Noah, also known as Manu. Those who took part in the exodus made their way eastwards from Atlantis and formed the nucleus of the Indo-Germanic (Aryan) race, from which new civilisations developed. Firstly, the initiated a new cultural centre in India. This was followed by a second in Persia, a third in Egypt and Mesopotamia, and fourthly the cultures of Greece and Rome. Our present culture, which began to flourish in Europe around the time of the Renaissance, is the fifth since the destruction of Atlantis.
The present day Indian and Persian civilisations are descended from their respective pre-historical cultures. Similarly, the cultures of Greece and Egypt are descendants of their forerunners in antiquity. Modern Chinese culture can be traced still further back, having a forerunner in the remote pre-historical past of ancient Atlantis.
The hallmark of Atlantean civilisation – in contrast to the subsequent development of post-Atlantean civilisation – the former developed on the basis of group consciousness, whereas post-Atlantean civilisation is characterised by the emergence of man as an individual.
* * *
Virginia Essene and Sheldon Nidle wrote the book, You are Becoming a Galactic Human, in which they channelled information from the Sirian entity, Washta, along with other Sirian Council members. During these channelling sessions, they spoke of earth’s ancient, pre-deluvian history, which was a very interesting tale indeed.
According to Washta and the Sirian council, the Earth has been under galactic influence for quite some time. From about 2 million bc it was under Sirian influence. The Sirians began in the colonies of Hybornea and Lemuria. This ended when Atlantis destroyed Lemuria at around 25,000bc, the Earth was under the Pleiaden influence, which began when Atlantis destroyed Lemuria and the Pleidean model for Earth human civilisation was implemented.
Approximately 35 million years ago, the Time Lords and the Spiritual Hierarchy decided to create an etheric life form to act as the guardian species for Earth and the surrounding solar system. This angel-like life form was to act as an intermediary until the evolution of a more physically evolved sentient primate occurred. Over the next 8 million years, a primate life form did develop on Earth, which could one day replace the temporary etheric civilisation put in place.
About 26 million years ago two non-human space civilisations approached Earth and established colonies upon it. These two civilisations were the reptoid and the dinoid cultures. Presumably, the fossilised remains of the dinosaurs were remnants of this civilisation, and the reptiles of today are cousins of the ancient Reptoid civilisation. The masters of these two civilisations had two arms and two legs, but they were markedly different from the primate based human civilisation we know today. Like the reptiles of today, they were not sentient beings, but had cold, calculating minds very much like a computer. This lack of sentiency is what largely separated them from the mammalian species that also lived on Earth.
Over the next 8 million years the dinoid and reptoid civilisations began to slowly allow mammalian creatures on Earth to evolve towards sentiency. The first such creature was a land based pre-cetacean, which was the ancestor of dolphins and whales today. They developed a primitive agrarian society and a great ability to produce more than enough food to supply the two more advanced civilisations also inhabiting the Earth.
The three civilisations co-existed until about 10 million years ago when a group from Bellatrix as well as from stars from Orion began to explore the Earth. What they saw shocked them because it ran counter to their core myth of creation that was the essential underpinning of their entire alliance.
They believed when life was being established in the galaxy, the Lord of Creation told all dinoid/reptoid civilisations they had been created in his image and had been given the right to rule over and use, as they so pleased, all life created in this galaxy. Further, all dinoid/reptoid civilisations were told not to permit any other inferior life form to establish itself as a guardian of our galaxy. Using this edict of superiority, the Dinoid/Reptoid alliance had spread its violence and terror across the galaxy for over 16 million years.
It is for that reason the dinoid and reptoid groups began a plot to destroy the mammalian society. This mammalian group was composed of a land version of the modern cetaceans (whales and dolphins) that are found in the oceans, bays and rivers.
Because the pre-cetaceans were highly conscious, psychic beings, they knew something sinister was occurring. The pre-cetaceans therefore decided the best way to solve the problem was to explode their fusion generators that were located in the region of the Ural mountains, which created a world-wide catastrophe and destroyed the dinoid and reptoid civilisations.
Prior to imploding the fusion generators, the pre-cetaceans split their society in half. Half of their civilisation was evacuated out of the solar system, while the other half went into the oceans.
When the fusion generators imploded, 98% of the dinoid/reptoid civilisation was destroyed, and the survivors fled to the large planet between Jupiter and Mars, called Maldeck.
The pre-cetaceans that fled to the oceans used their full consciousness to transform themselves into whales and dolphins over a 4 million year period. The other half of the pre-cetaceans fled to the constellations of Pegasus and Cetus, where they awaited their return to this solar system.
The destruction of the reptoid/dinoid civilisations occurred from 8 to 10 million years ago. With the fleeing of the remnants of the reptoid/dinoid civilisation to Maldeck, the guardianship of the Earth was left to the remaining sentient species, the cetaceans, leaving no Earth bound guardians for the Earth.
After 2 or 3 million years, the cetaceans found an aquatic primate beginning to emerge from the oceans on the 4th planet of the Vega system. These aquatic primates had the first rudiments of civilisation, such as creation myths, a language, and a hunting and gathering culture. These aquatic primates had discovered that if they moved into the water it would be easier for them to catch fish. They eventually moved further and further into the water until, like the otter, they were practically spending their entire day living and playing in water. They eventually lost their body hair and evolved to look like present-day humans. Aquatic human primates, living and surviving in the water, would eventually evolve into a species with the lengthened limbs and elongated vertebrae, which would help them to adapt to an aquatic environment.
If one thinks about it, it makes perfect sense that the first human primates were water dwelling creatures. Every ancient civilisation on Earth was based around a body of water and was dependant it for survival, which harks back to a time when our ancestors lived in the water. When we humans want to relax, one of the things we often do is take a nice, long warm bath, which has the effect of washing away much of the tension from our bodies. When we go on holiday, the destination of choice is a bright, sunny place near a body of water. Quite possibly, on a primordial level, we are drawn to the water because it signifies our very distant origins.
The celestial hierarchy permitted the evolution of the aquatic primates to accelerate so they could quickly spread out across the galaxy. The first colony of humans on Earth was Hybornea, which lasted about a million years and was a complete Lyran/Sirian type of civilisation.
The Dinoid, Reptoid alliance, with their outposts on the fringes of our solar system and the planet Maldeck, decided it was time to exert their authority in our region of the galaxy, and subsequently destroyed the human colonies on Mars, Venus, and Earth.
The destruction of these civilisations destroyed the atmosphere on Mars, along with its oceans, rivers and streams, which is why it is today a lifeless, red planet. Venus, on the other hand, was left in a virtual greenhouse condition of intense planetary atmospheric heating maintenance by an atmosphere that had been altered into a series of unliveable acrid gases.
Earth’s Hybornean colony was destroyed by a series of vicious and premeditated massive attacks that killed all humans and thoroughly obliterated all aspects of human civilisation. The outcome was the Dinoid/Reptoid alliance had again gained control of our solar system.
For a period of about 80,000 years the Dinoid/Reptoid group used our solar system as their outpost. In an attempt to bring the humans back into our solar system, the Galactic Federation brought a large battle planet into our region. The purpose of the battle planet was to destroy Maldeck, the planet situated between Mars and Jupiter, which was the administrative centre between the Dinoid/Reptoid alliance in our solar system. The battle planet has an orbit around the Sun of 3,600 years, and has been referred to as Wormwood in the Bible. This planet has a highly elliptical orbit, and therefore comes very close to the planet Earth and Mercury during its path across our solar system. The destruction of Maldeck occurred approximately 900,000 years ago, and paved the way for humans to repopulate the Earth.
This new colony of humans was based in the continent of Lemuria, which was situated in the Pacific Ocean. The humans set up a Lyrian/Sirian civilisation with democratic principles at all levels of life. Over the next 850,000 years, Lemurians spread across the Earth from their primary continental base of what is now the Pacific Ocean.
The Lemurians developed several daughter empires, such as Atlantis, located in what is now the Atlantic Ocean, and Yu, which was located in central China and Tibet.
The Atlanteans, however, saw themselves as unique and separate from Lemuria, and felt that instead of being a daughter empire, they should be a mother empire. They developed a strong desire to destroy Lemuria and any other daughter empires that were supportive to her. The Atlanteans were able to find allies in the various human renegade defence commands that had originally been formed in the colonies of Alpha Centauri and the Pleiades. These groups began to produce a plot that would lead to the destruction of Lemuria and the ascension of Atlantis as Earth’s world power, and 25,000 years ago, they decided to execute their plan.
At that time, the Earth had two Moons: each one was ¾ the size of our current Moon. The renegades proposed to move one of our Moons into a downward spiralling orbit using force fields. Before it reached critical mass with the Earth, it would be exploded so it would fall down as an incredible shower of meteors upon the Lemurian continent. The meteor shower created a volcanic catastrophe that caused the great gas chambers underneath Lemuria to implode and sink the continent, thereby destroying Lemurian dominance.
Therefore, when Lemuria was destroyed, nothing prevented Atlantis from rising to power. The Atlanteans wanted to develop a hierarchical structure of leadership, which was opposed to the Lemurian ideals, which were democratic in nature.
In addition to Atlantis and Lemuria, the two other great powers were the Yu Empire in Asia and the Libyan/Egyptian Empire in North Africa. The Libyan/Egyptian Empire was able to operate with a degree of autonomy, provided they make some alterations. The Yu Empire, however, refused to accept Atlantis’s new position as a world power and was therefore destroyed. The survivors of the Yu Empire were forced to move underground and formed the Kingdom of Agartha or Shamballa.
The history of Atlantis is broken down into three empires:-
The Atlanteans brought in an artificial Maldeck moon, which they used to physically balance the Earth. In addition, they attempted to use the Moon to establish military superiority and end the civil wars and rebellions. The rebellions, however, would continue for the duration of the Middle Empire.
Renegades from the various outposts began to take up positions in the governing council of the Atlantean elite. These infiltrators were more and more insistent that those who opposed the anti-Lemurian faction should be punished, which brought about acts of terrorism, torture and inquisitions.
One of the methods the Atlanteans used to try to create peace in the world was the belief in creating what they called the God force. They decided to create a ruling class and sustained the pretence that these people were empowered by the God force. This contradicted the previous balance of power afforded by the Lemurians when Atlantis had ten ruling districts, each with its own king.
Autocracy took over Atlantis by the end of the period of the Middle Empire, which enforced a period of peace and stability, albeit grudgingly. Many of the new generation who had been raised in the Middle Empire were wary of ruling elites, and a rebel movement took place, demanding the return of the Lemurian ideal of governance. The rebels were exiled to Ionia, which was located in southern Spain.
The rebel group consisted of leading scientists and other administrators who had decided to create a government similar to that of the ancient Lemurian Empire. The underground movement that was created was called the Osiris cult. After about 3,000 to 4,000 years, the Atlanteans decided it was time to destroy the cult by using a modified version of the plan they the had used to destroy Lemuria.
At the time of the destruction of Atlantis, the Atlantean king was called Atlas. King Atlas was secretly in favour of re-establishing the Lemurian form of civilisation and named his son Osiris in favour of the underground movement.
Atlas sent his wife, Queen Mu, to what is now Central America. He sent his son Osiris to the Libyan/Egyptian Empire. The army went to Central America while the priests went to the Middle East.
Atlantis had hoped that after Atlantis was destroyed, he could re-establish the Lemurian Empire. Unfortunately, his other son, Seth, decided that as the ruler of the Libyan/Egyptian Empire, he was the last remnant of the Atlantean belief system and he hoped to re-establish the Altantean Empire.
When Seth realised Osiris would not allow him to establish the Atlantean style of government, he decided to attack his brother.
Horus, the son of Osiris, and the Shamballa Empire, which had gone underground, joined forces to defeat Seth and his Sumerian armies. The land based Shamballa Empire aided Horus by protecting him with aerial and space forces. Eventually, Horus attacked and killed Seth in a battle in the Sinai Peninsula. Seth’s sons fled through the Holy Land into what is called the Middle East and began the Sumerian civilisation.
The Sumerians, or sons of Seth, were determined to destroy once and for all any remnant of Lemuria, and therefore developed a plan to attack Horus that would ruin the civilised world of Europe, Africa and Asia.
The elite of these warring empires decided to attack the crystal temples. These crystals kept the Firmament in place, which is described in the biblical Genesis account. The Firmament was two sheets of crystallised ice placed above the atmosphere of the Earth’s surface. Their function was to control the temperature and the weather on the Earth, making it a continuous 70 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit all year round with little or not precipitation.
Unfortunately, the warring factions miscalculated the extent of the damage that would be done when they destroyed that Firmament, and much to their dismay, literally millions of gallons of water fell from the sky, which is depicted in the Bible as the story of the Great Flood.
Prior to the Great Flood, there was no rain, very little wind, and the seasons did not exist. The temperature was constantly warm all year round, as opposed to the seasonal variations we experience today. Because the people in ante-deluvian times did not directly experience the harmful rays of the Sun, they were not exposed to degenerative diseases, such as cancer, that we now must suffer. As a result, they did not age the way we currently do, and lived up to a millennium, as opposed to our normal life expectancy of less than a century. This is attested to in the book of Genesis, where Methuselah lived to the ripe old age of 969.
Around the time of the flood, man’s life expectancy decreased from a millennium to 120 years. This age limit preceded the flood, so it would be safe to say the warring on the Earth at the time, even before the Flood, had the effect of severely limiting man’s time on Earth. This could very well have taken place 25,000 years ago when Lemuria was destroyed by one of Earth’s two Moons exploding directly above the continent. The destruction of one of our Moons and a continent on the Earth would invariably have had the knock-on effect of affecting the human race.
It was also not long after the Great Flood that man lost much of his conscious awareness. Prior to the Flood, man was able to communicate telepathically because the Genesis accounts states that man was of one language. It was in the Tower of Babel story that man lost his telepathy, and therefore lost his ability to communicate with his fellow man. It was at that point he needed to develop the concept of language so he could communicate with other humans.
While the book of Genesis in the Bible states quite clearly man’s life-span would be limited to 120 years, it is alluded elsewhere in the Bible that his life-span was further limited to a period of 70 years in the second book of Chronicles. Although the Bible does not go out and specifically say man’s life-span would be 70 years, this is much more realistic than the Genesis account of 120 years. It is for this reason the Earth must have gone through more changes even after the Flood to virtually halve man’s life span again.
The channelled entity, Washta, has stated genetic experiments were conducted on the surviving humans to change their genetic structure. It was these genetic experiments on man that caused him to lose a great deal of his cosmic consciousness. His digestive tract must have been altered as well, because the Genesis account in the Bible clearly states man was either a fruitarian or a vegan because he only ate fruit from trees or leafy green vegetables. After the Great Flood, however, man began eating meat, which turned him into an omnivore. It was after the Great Flood that man became a hunter/gatherer, eating fruit and vegetables he had gathered and meat he had hunted and killed himself, and his digestive tract changed accordingly. Therefore, even if man had a desire to go back to telepathically communicating with God and being in harmony with the Earth by only eating fruits and vegetables, the fact that his genetic coding was changed made such endeavours extremely difficult at the very best of times.
Man was much larger in ante-deluvian times. He stood up to ten feet tall, while modern man stands only about six feet tall. On some primordial level we must all remember when our ancient ancestors were much larger because we all subconsciously strive for height. This is clearly evidenced by the fact that, statistically, it is the tall, attractive people who excel in this life with significantly less effort than those of us mere mortals who are less than perfect. Modern humans place such a great value on physical perfection that we pay models and movie stars millions of dollars almost solely for their near perfect physical attributes, while the rest of us imperfect beings must toil for our daily bread.
Man in pre-deluvian times was either fruitarian or vegan. This is evidenced by the fact that in the Biblical account of man’s creation, God told the man he had created he could eat from any tree in the Garden of Eden, except for the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. There was no mention whatsoever of this new man digging up root vegetables or killing an animal and eating it. The only thing he was given to eat was the fruit or leaves from trees in the garden.
After the Great Flood, the Earth was completely altered. There was no Firmament to keep the temperature and the climate constant, and as a result of that, man was subjected to a wide variation of temperature and weather fluctuations he would be expected to adapt to if he had any hope of surviving. In all probability there was little, if any, food to eat in such a brave new world. He was no longer able to just go out and pick a piece for fruit off a tree for sustenance, but had to go out and search for it in a very barren land. Because man had to go out and get his food, he became what is generally referred to as a hunter/gather, and the biochemistry of his body changed accordingly.
After the Great Flood, the former elite guardian classes asked for the help of extra-terrestrials to rebuild the Earth. For their own purposes, the Pleiadeans wanted to encourage human civilisation. They decided to establish colonies in four areas: the Middle East, Mexico, China and the Nile.
The renegades who constructed the Sumerian civilisation based their government upon a hierarchical structure that would have the renegades acting as overseer gods. These overseer gods presented the Earth’s mutant humans with a myth of creation signifying why the Pleiaden renegades should be held in awe and thus worshipped.
Another group of renegades established Egypt about 100 years after the Great Flood. They decided to use the process of a god-king figure to issue decrees and guard the old secrets of technology and history from the survivors.
The inhabitants of Mexico attempted to re-create their pre-Flood civilisation that had been founded by Lemuria and later abetted by the arrival of Queen Mu and Prince Mayam. Eventually a group of Pleiadiens and Centaurian renegades came to establish several civilisations in Mexico that would mirror the renegades’ hierarchical structures as well as their spiritual concepts and mythologies.
Another group of renegades came to what is now the continent of Asia. In an attempt to amalgamate the cultural traditions of Lemuria, Rama and the Pleiadean/Centurian renegades, they skilfully distorted the innumerable temple records and temple rituals of that area.
Unfortunately, the humans who survived the Great Flood were largely the same ones who lacked full consciousness, and could easily be controlled and developed by the Pleiadean renegades. The renegades were able to manipulate the surviving mutant humans on Earth by developing a very sad and non-spiritual religion. Fortunately for us, the Spiritual Hierarchies of the Earth still believed even the mutant humans should be part of the Earth’s guardian triad and for this reason the humans were allowed to repopulate the Earth.
The Pleiadean renegades, to enforce their concept as a creator God, first gave humans the methods of building large permanent structures, such as stone buildings and monuments. The purpose of the stone structures were to act as a place for worshipping the renegades who had made themselves into gods deserving of reverence and awe. Because no form of disobedience to these new gods was permitted, the whole concept of ruling by ‘divine right’ was incorporated in Earth humans by a renegade hierarchy that had been established by extremely unsavoury men. The federation renegades used the mutant Earth human civilisation to pay homage to themselves and to create a subservient civilisation worshipping its elite, a process that has continued even into modern times through the appointing of kings and queens in even progressive countries.
However, by the 15th to 12th century bc, the various galactic wars and interference between the forces of light and dark made it difficult for the renegade Pleiadeans to control the Earth. This predicament led to the withdrawal of the renegades from their position of authority in human civilisation, which had been established in Egypt, India, China and the Americas. This allowed Earth humans to begin to think for themselves and to develop their own sciences based upon the technology they had already been given. It is also worth mentioning that around the time the renegades left the Earth, the many bizarre occurrences depicted in the Bible ceased.
Just after the Great Flood there was a period of dreadful negativity and darkness when the control of the Pleiadean renegades was at its strongest. However, as their group slowly lifted from Earth, humans were able to achieve a slight improvement in consciousness. This improvement allowed the intervention of our Sirian ancestors back into our civilisation from time to time, which supported the light of Christ, the coming of Quetzalcoatl, and the Buddha. Unfortunately, in the case of Christ and Buddha, their teachings became lost in the regimentation of the religions that emerged from their walk on Earth. People became caught up in the methodology of their religion instead of the true meaning of the words spoken.
Time Line 35 million years bc Etheric intelligent civilisation created and designated the guardians of Earth, but they were to find physical guardians as well. 26 million years bc Dinoids from the Bellatrix system in Orion and Reptoids from a star in Sagittarius arrive and inhabit Earth. Reptoid/Dinoids allow a mammalian species to evolve to sentiency. These mammals were called pre-cetaceans. Three civilisations co-exist in harmony for 8 million years. All three civilisations develop advanced space/time travel, and the pre-cetaceans developed superior psychic abilities. 10 million years bc The Dinoid/Reptoid Alliance from Bellatrix come to stop co-operation with the pre cetaceans because they feel the Dinoids and Reptoids are a superior race of beings. The Dinoid/Reptoids, under the influence of the Bellatrix Alliance, decide to destroy the pre-cetaceans through psychological warfare, but the pre-cetaceans detect this through their advanced psychic abilities. 8 millions years bc The pre-cetaceans implode their fusion generators in the Ural mountain range as a pre emptive counter-strike. The pre-cetaceans form two groups: one group evacuates out of our solar system; the second group enter into the oceans and evolve into what are now the dolphins and whales, and have retained guardianship of the Earth. The imploded fusion generators kill off 98% of the Reptoid/Dinoid race. The remaining 2% evacuated to the planet Maldeck, which was located between Mars and Jupiter. The reptiles we know today are distant relatives of those ancient beings. 5 million years bc A primitive aquatic species that was starting to emerge from the ocean was discovered in the 4th planet of the Vega system. This species had language, a creation myth, and a hunting/gathering culture. This species was allowed to evolve rapidly so they would become the new guardians of the Earth. 4 million years bc The Galactic Federation was formed. Sirius B was colonised. The Earth was selected for seeding. 2 millions years bc Mars and Venus colonised. Hybornea Colony founded on Earth. 1 million years bc Dinoid/Reptoid civilisation launches an attack from the planet Maldeck. They destroyed life on Mars and Venus, and destroyed the colony Hybornea. The Galactic Federation responded to the Dinoid/Reptoid aggressive acts by installing a battle planet on the outskirts of our solar system, which has a 3,600-year orbit. This battle planet destroyed the planet Maldeck, the remains of which are now the Asteroid Belt. In the Bible, this planet is called Wormwood. 900,000 bc The colony of Lemuria was founded on Earth. 500,00bc Lemurians founded daughter colonies of Atlantis, Yu and the Libyan/Egyptian colonies. 100,000 bc Atlantis, Yu and the Libyan/Egyptian colonies are declared daughter empires. The Atlanteans wanted to separate from the Lemurian Empire. The Atlanteans began to feel they should become the mother empire and had a strong desire to destroy Lemuria. They formed an alliance with Renegade Pleidians and Alpha Centuarians to help them to achieve this. 25,000 bc The Atlaneans, with the help of the Renegades, destroyed Lemuria by taking one of Earth’s moons, which was called Lilith, moved it as close as possible to Lemuria, and then destroyed the moon. This destruction resulted in meteor showers that destroyed Lemuria and sank the continent into the Earth. 25,000 to 15,000 bc There was warfare all over the Earth, as some colonies did not want to adhere to the Atlantean hiearchial government. The Atlanteans decided in order to manipulate the people into obeying them, they would create the myth that the kings in each region were divine. It is interesting to note this form of government is still practised in many parts of the Earth even in modern times. The United Kingdom’s present monarchy is a prime example of the Atlantean’s myth of the devine right of kings. The Atlanteans began genetic engineering to reduce the consciousness of man, make him less sentient, and more susceptible to suggestion. Through this genetic engineering, man’s life span was decreased from almost a millennium to only 120 years. This is related in the Bible through Genesis 6:2 to 6:3. 15,000 to 10,000 bc There was warfare all over the Earth, as many people wanted to go back to the old Lemurian system of government. The warring factions decided in order to destroy their opponents, they would destroy the crystal controlled Firmament about the Earth that controlled the climate. Little did they know that each faction decided to do exactly the same thing to their opponent. When each faction destroyed the crystals that controlled the Firmament above the Earth, they brought about the tragedy we know as the Great Flood. This is related in the Bible in Genesis 6:15 to 7:12. 10,000 to 1,300 bc After the Flood, only about 2 million out of 65 million people survived. Most of the survivors were the mutants that had been created through genetic engineering, so they did not possess full consciousness. They also did not have the Firmament to protect them from the Sun’s harmful rays and seasonal variations, which meant they were exposed to disease for the first time. In order to survive, humans had to start eating meat, which in previous times had been a totally alien concept to them. This, no doubt, changed the genetic structure of their bodies even more. This event is related in the Bible through Genesis 9:2 to 9:5. The Galactic Federation decided the Firmament would not be re-installed on the Earth. This meant the Earth has experienced season variations and precipitation, which was totally new to man. The Renegades from other star systems saw Earth as an excellent breeding ground to set up their own ideologies. They established themselves as gods and were therefore able to control the people. They set up kingdoms and declared the kings divine. This, it should be noted, was in total contradiction to the Lemurian egalitarian system of government. Through the cataclysmic changes of the Earth and man’s adaptation so he could survive, he lost his ability to communicate telepathically. Man’s further loss of consciousness is at least partially attributed to the renegades who wanted to make Earth their own special haven, as it is probable they performed genetic engineering on man to decrease his psychic awareness. After the Flood, the Earth was a very volatile place to be. The remaining humans lost a great deal of their consciousness and sentiency, had been forced to kill and eat animals for their very survival, and this in turn made them much more aggressive than they would have been in antediluvian times. It is for that reason war and strife became a very large part of man’s life since the Great Flood. After The Flood
The earliest astrology known is that which was discovered inscribed in ancient clay tablets excavated in Mesopotamia over the last century and a half. The astrology of the past appears to have been mundane, which means it was focused primarily on the king and the nation. Individual birth charts did not appear until quite later in the evolutionary progression of the science of astrology, probably during the reign of the Babylonian King Ammisaduqa, who ruled during the first half of the second millennium bc.
Even today, several millenniums after the once great Babylonian civilisation, remnants of their culture still exist. Just one example of the influence these individuals have left us is our concept of time. The simple fact that we divide the hours and minutes into a sixty based number system is because the Mesopotamians did so, and we have continued the practice – presumably because there has never been any great reason to change the habit.
Our mythology, via the Old Testament, also has its roots firmly embedded in the same cities of Mesopotamia. Both the creation story and the great flood story have been found preserved in the early literature discovered by archaeologists, which predates that literature of the Hebrew scribes by a millennium or more.
In the late 19th century George Smith published his revelations of the Babylonian ‘creation myth’. This, along with other discoveries of early Babylonian myths, which were similar to or identical with those recorded in the Old Testament, created an interest on the part of both scholars and the lay public.

The story of Gilgamesh, which is quite similar to the Old Testament creation myth, yet predates it, is as follows:-
Gilgamesh, Lord of Uruk, was shaped by the gods to be a king among men. Two-thirds divine, he had perfect beauty, courage, and wisdom. He was as proud as a young bull.
Gilgamesh crossed the ocean to the edge of sunrise. He journeyed far to find the secrets of the world and bring back the story of time before the Flood. He built the city of Uruk, where the story of Gilgamesh is carved in tablets of stone.
Now Gilgamesh was so fine in his glory that no man could stand against him and no woman could resist him.
Aruru, the goddess of creation, decided to create a comrade for Gilgamesh. She spat into her hands, took a pinch of clay, and threw it down into the wilderness. In this way she created Enkidu, the warrior, the child of silence, the strong. His body was covered in hair like an animal; he knew nothing of mankind.
A woman from the temple of Ishtar, the goddess of life, tamed the wild Enkidu, who was born in the hills like a falling star. She awakened in his heart the thoughts of a man. She took him to Uruk to challenge great Gilgamesh. ‘I am the strongest,’ cried Enkidu. They fought like two bulls, but at last Gilgamesh overpowered him. From the struggle came friendship, which was closer than the love of a man for a woman.
Together, Gilgamesh and Enkidu roamed the world, for Gilgamesh had a restless heart. Ishtar desired Gilgamesh. ‘Be my husband,’ she said, ‘and I will set the world at your feet.’ But the hero refused, saying to her, ‘To which lover have you ever been faithful?’
Ishtar’s desire turned to hatred. She went to her father Anu and her mother Antum. ‘Gilgamesh has scorned me,’ she said. ‘Father, make me a Bull of Heaven to destroy Gilgamesh. If you do not, I will break open the doors of Hell and let the dead eat with the living.’
Anu replied, ‘If I make the Bull, it will cause a seven-year drought.’
Isthar told him, ‘Make the Bull.’
Ishtar took the reins of the Bull of Heaven in her hand, and guided it to Uruk. It landed by the river, and with a snort opened up a chasm into which a hundred young men fell. It snorted again and opened up another chasm, which swallowed up another hundred young men. It snorted a third time and opened up yet another chasm. One hundred, two hundred, three hundred young men of Uruk fell into it.
Enkidu seized the Bull by its horns. As it frothed spittle into his face, he called out, ‘Gilgamesh, brother, strike with your sword!’ Gilgamesh thrust his sword into the neck of the Bull of Heaven. He slew the Bull, and gave its heart to Shamash, the Sun god.
Ishtar gave a great cry of grief at the death of the Bull and called down her curse on Enkidu and Gilgamesh. She summoned all the women of her temple to mourn over the body of the Bull of Heaven.
The next day, Enkidu told Gilgamesh, ‘Brother, I have had a dream. I saw the gods sitting in council. Anu and Shamash were there with Enlil of the earth and air and Ea, god of water. Anu said that, because we have killed the Bull of Heaven, one of us must die. Anu, Enlil, and Ea argued that my life should be forfeit. Shamash tried to save me, but he was only one against three. So I must die.’ And that very day, Enkidu fell sick.
Gilgamesh stayed at Enkidu’s side during his long illness, as he wavered between life and death. One day Enkidu told Gilgamesh, ‘I have dreamt my death. The Black Bird of Death seized me in his talons and carried me to the House of Dust, to the Queen of the Dark.’ With these words, Enkidu died.
Still weeping for Enkidu, Gilgamesh roamed far and wide. ‘Why must we die?’, he asked. ‘The gods live forever, but we mortals come and go in a single breath. I will ask my ancestor Utnapishtim, whom the gods saved from the Flood and gave eternal life.’
Gilgamesh journeyed over plains and mountains until he came to the twin peak of Mashu, guardians of the rising and setting Sun. At the gate of Mashu stand the terrible Scorpions, half man and half dragon, whose glance is death to man. But Gilgamesh was two-thirds divine. ‘Why have you come to this forbidden place?’ they asked.
‘I have come in search of my ancestor, Utnapishtim,’ he replied. ‘I have questions for him concerning life and death.’
‘No human being or mortal thing has trodden this road,’ they said. ‘It is the road of utter darkness. Are you not afraid?’
‘Although I am afraid, still I must go in,’ said Gilgamesh. And the Scorpions opened the gate. Gilgamesh entered the dark. Dark filled his mouth and his eyes. He reached out and clutched at the dark, but it slipped through his fingers. He kept walking while outside the Sun rose and set. And at that, Gilgamesh walked into the light, into the garden of the Sun. There, by the edge of a bitter sea, Gilgamesh found the goddess of wisdom, Siduri.
Siduri told him, ‘You are weary, despair is in your heart. You will never find eternal life.’ But Gilgamesh replied, ‘Though I am tired, I will speak with Utnapishtim.’
‘No mortal has crossed this sea of death,’ said Siduri.
‘Only Shamash, the Sun, can cross the ocean. Do not try. Go home, Eat, drink, rejoice. Man must die, but life is sweet.’ ‘Where is life’s sweetness, when Enkidu is dead?’ asked Gilgamesh.
‘Go into the forest then,’ said Siduri, ‘and seek Urshanabi, the ferryman, who will take you across the sea to Utnapishtim. But do not touch the waters of death.’
Gilgamesh came at last to the home of Utnapishtim, his forefather. ‘I am Gilgamesh, Lord of Uruk,’ he said. ‘Far have I come, through the empty dark and across the bitter water, to ask you why men die. Enkidu, my friend, is dead, and the fear of death is upon me. Must I join him in the House of Dust? You were once a man like me. Tell me your story, Forefather.’
Urnapishtim replied, ‘what grows, decays. The wise man and the fool both die. The dragonfly lives for the glory of the Sun, then it is just like sleep, it comes to all. The gods give out the days of life, and the day of death. But I will tell you my tale.’
‘I lived in the city of Shurrupak, by the banks of the Euphrates, as faithful servant of the wise god Ea.
‘The city grew old, and the gods grew old – Anu, the father, and his children, Enlil, Ea, Ninurta, Ennugi, Ishtar, and the rest.
‘Ishtar caused trouble among men: war and unrest. The gods could not sleep for the tumult. And at last Enlil, the warrior, said to the gods, ‘Let us loose the waters of the world, and drown this rabble that disturbs our rest.’ And the gods agreed.
‘Even Ea was bound by the gods’ decision. He could not warn mankind of the flood, but he whispered the secret to my house of reeds, and the wind in the reeds whispered it to me in my sleep: ‘Man of Shurrupak, tear down your house and build a boat.’
‘Obedient to the god, I built a boat, long and wide, and roofed it and took into the boat the seed of all living things. I took my family and possessions, and a male and a female of all the living creatures in the world, both wild and tame.
‘For six days and six nights the tempest raged, drowning the world in a fury of wind and rain. On the seventh day, the storm calmed. I looked out from the boat, and there was nothing but water on the face of the Earth. And then I wept, but that was just more water.
‘Finally, the boat ran aground atop Mount Nisir. Eager to find out whether the flood was going down, I loosed first a dove, then a swallow, and then a raven. The dove and the swallow both returned exhausted, but the raven did not – it had found a resting place. In my joy, I made a sacrifice to the gods.
‘As soon as Enlil smelled the sweet – scented smoke from my sacrifice, he was furious. ‘Have some of these troublesome mortals escaped? All should have died. Someone must have warned them!’
‘But wise Ea replied, ‘the flood was too hard a fate for all humankind. This man, at least, did not deserve to die. However, I sent him no warning; the man had a dream.’
‘At that, Enlil’s anger cooled. He took me by the hand and set my wife by my side. He knelt and touched our foreheads. ‘Until now, Utnapishtim was mortal. Now he and his wife shall be as the gods.’
Utnapishtim looked hard at Gilgamesh. ‘Now, Gilgamesh, how will you persuade the gods to grant you eternal life?’
‘I shall not give up,’ said Gilgamesh.
‘Then first, you must stay awake for six days and seven nights.’
As Utnapishtim spoke, sleep breathed over Gilgamesh like a fog. He slept for six days and seven nights. Each day Utnapishtim’s wife placed a fresh loaf by his side. At last, Utnapishtim woke him.
‘I have only been sleeping a minute,’ protested Gilgamesh.
‘Lying man,’ said Utnapishtim. ‘Look at these loaves by your side. Today’s is fresh-baked, but the others are stale and dry.’
‘Is there nothing I can do to become immortal?’ cried Gilgamesh. ‘Death is stealing over me like sleep.’
‘You have worn yourself to nothing by journeying here’, Utnapishtim replied, ‘so I will give you a prize to take home. On the far shore of the sea of death there grows a plant with sharp thorns like a rose. Once eaten, it will restore lost youth to a man.’
Gilgamesh soon found the plant, which he called, ‘The Old Man Made Young Again’. He took it back to Uruk, determined to try it on the old men of the city, and then on himself. But as he stopped at a pool to wash, a snake ate the plant.
Ever since, snakes have been able to shed their skins and become young again. But mankind, having once lost the plant of eternal youth, has never found it again.

The Sumerians wrote about their past, and although these stories are an uncertain blend of fact and mythology, they all agree on certain themes. The Sumerians themselves wrote they came from the Island of Dilmun, where resided the descendants of kings who lived ‘before the Flood’. Today, following considerable archaeological investigations, it is believed the island of legend is in fact the modern day Bahrain Island.
The kingdom of Sumer was essentially a confederation of powerful city-states under its own particular king and god. Interestingly, early Sumer had 13 city-states, which could have related to the 13 lunar months. Could this be the origin of the later esoteric significance of the number 13 – often recorded as a group of 12 plus 1. Could unity have been perceived as the sum of 13 parts? On the same line of the esoteric significance of the number 13, it is worth noting the United States of America was initially composed of 13 colonies, and it has long been argued the nation was founded on many fundamental esoteric and exoteric religious principles.
By the 4th century BC the once great Babylonian civilisation was already in decline. Following Alexander the Great’s invasion, the centre of the ancient world would shift from Mesopotamia to the Mediterranean.
In ancient Mesopotamia, part of the duty of the astrologer was to keep a daily watch upon the heavens.
For the Mesopotamians, Earth and the heavens above were not separate domains, but were considered to be two parts of one realm. Earth and heaven were complementary; one depended upon the other and both were equally important beings to the divine, born of the same substance as the gods. The story of the Babylonian Noah, Atra-Hasis, dating from the 2nd millennium bc, explains:-
‘Let one God be slaughtered.
So that the entire God’s may be cleaned in a dipping.
From his flesh and blood
Let Nintu mix clay,
Let God and man
May be thoroughly mixed in the clay.
So that we may hear the drum for the rest of time.
Let there be a spirit from the God’s flesh.’
The ancient Mesopotamians also believed it was the task of mankind to serve the gods:-
‘Let the birth goddess create offspring,
And let the man bear the toil of the gods.
You are the birth goddess, creatress of mankind.
Create Lullu (man) that he may bear the yoke.
Let him bear the yoke assigned by Enlil.
Let man carry the toil of the gods.’
In Babylonian astrology, the first appearance of the New Moon was a crucial date in the Babylonian lunar calendar because it denoted the beginning of the new month. Any astrologer who missed the New Moon might very well lose his job because the task of the astrologer was not only to read the meaning of the skies, but to also control the state calendar. All astrologers were direct employees of the throne.
The world’s oldest known astrological text is a thick clay tablet, tinged red, and rounded at the sides. It is composed of a cuneiform text, and is titled the ‘Venus Tablet of Ammisaduqa’ in the astrological series, the Enuma Anu Enlil – the book of the gods of heaven and Earth.
It was in the Venus Tablet that the eight-year cycle of Venus, comprised of five ‘synodic periods’, or cycles, around the Sun, was mentioned to have occurred during the first eight years of Ammisaduqa’s rule.
It is also believed the non-Semitic Sumerians might have used astrology in their ancient mythology, which described the birth of Sin (the Moon), which read:-
‘…. The fate decreeing gods, the seven of them…..’
While it has been suggested the seven gods referred to are the four creator gods (or elements) of heaven (light or fire), earth, and sea (water), and together with the divine trinity of the three main celestial bodies in the Sumerian mythology, the trinity of the Sun, Moon and Venus. It would also seem equally likely the seven gods mentioned are the seven visible planets: Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn.
King Hammurabi lived 100 years before Ammisaduqa and, having inherited the tiny kingdom of Babylonia, proceeded to spend the next ten years fighting to unify all of Mesopotamia under his rule, thus creating the first empire.
Not content with standardising the will and business life of the empire, Hammurabi turned his attention to religious affairs as well. He decided to change the Gods around in order that they might better serve his empire. He elevated the Babylonian city-god, a minor deity called Marduck, to be the new head of the Mesopotamian pantheon. As a consequence, all religious literature was re-written so it might portray Marduk’s recently demonstrated pre-eminence. Marduck was associated with Jupiter. Venus was a prominent deity in her own right, worshipped in the area for the thousands of years before existence.
It is important to realise that scholars who have studied these texts extensively believe the astrology of the Mesopotamians was not formulated in one intensive burst of intellectual activity, but was developed over a period of time during the second millennium bc. The bulk of this development occurred from 1700 BC, the era of the Venus Tablet until around 1000 BC.
In addition to the modern 12 constellations, the ancient astronomers used the Pleiades, Orion, Perseus, Auriga, Shinunutu (yet to be identified) the ‘Swallow’ (the western fish of Pisces with part of the western section of Pegasus) and Anunitu (the eastern fish of Pisces). The constellations and the fixed stars were divided into three groupings, called ‘paths’: those of Anu, Enlil and Ea, the gods of heaven, earth and water. The paths were seen as three divisions of the eastern horizon through which the stars rose, and could equally be termed ‘ways’ or ‘gates’.
The mythology of a nation can be viewed as its reflection in the mirror of the heavens. For myth mirrors the hidden side of a nation: the tales of the gods are the tales of a nation’s unconscious life expressed in symbolic form.
The tales of heaven are, in reality, tales of Earth. Mythology forever connects those two realms and, of course, astrology’s basic premise rests upon this connection. Events in heaven foreshadow events on earth. Astrology, therefore, can be seen as a means of working with mythology in a practical way.
The earliest type of religion in Mesopotamia appears to have involved fertility gods and goddesses who ensured the fields remain productive and the animals healthy. In time, perhaps reflecting the emergence of warrior kings who ruled over the growing, hierarchy stratified urban communities; the gods also became ordered into a strict social hierarchy, each a specialist in his or her appointed task.
While the mythology of the Sumerians was quite complex, the original Semitic religion was based on the gods: the Moon, the Sun and Venus. Accordingly, when the Semites assumed power over Sumeria, at the time of King Sargon in 2334 bc, while retaining the entire Sumerian pantheon, they substituted as its head their astral trinity of the Moon (Sin), the Sun (Shamash), and Venus (Ishtar).
Originally, it is thought the Semitic tribes held the Sun to be female while considering the Moon and Venus to be male. Following upon their adoption of the Sumerian pantheon, they kept the Moon as male, but the Sun became male as well. Venus became both male and female simultaneously, and later exclusively female.
The Moon god, Nanna to the Sumerians, Sin to the Akkadians – remained head of the astral deities. He had been prominent since early Sumerian times, being considered as the father of both the Sun and Venus, the divined twins. This view of the celestial hierarchy faithfully reflects the ancient concept that day emerged from night; the Sun was born of the Moon; that light emerged from the darkness. This Sumerian notion finds expression in the first few lines of the Old Testament, probably one of the most ancient legends still in print and still forming a part of our integral religion.
‘… and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, ‘Let there be light…..’
Indeed, the comparison is even closer than the distorted view promulgated by the translations used in the English Bibles. The original word, translated as ‘God’ was in fact the plural term ‘Elohim’. Hence, a more accurate translation would give the rendering; ‘And the spirit of the gods moved….’
The ancient Hebrews were no strangers to the cult of the Moon god, Sin. There is evidence to suggest this ancient cult was the original inspiration for the Hebrew religion and thus for significant parts of Old Testament theology. The book of Genesis records that Terah, father of Abraham, left his home city of Ur, planning to settle in Canaan, but settled in the trading city of Harran. Both Ur and Harran were supreme centres for the cult of Sin.
One of the most menacing occurrences in Mesopotamian astrology was that of the eclipse, either lunar or stellar. While the solar eclipses were supremely malevolent events, those of the Moon were regarded with considerable foreboding. Almost 40% of the lunar table in the Enuma Anu Enlil were dedicated to eclipse omens.
While in the very early Mesopotamian mythology, the Moon was considered masculine, in time it would take on feminine attributes and become the symbol of the mother goddess. She was Selene to the Greeks, Isis to the Egyptians, and Mary to the Christians. It has never been determined when this gender change occurred, or why.
Assyrian mythology, as it had evolved by the reign of King Ashurbanipal, expounded an elaborate pantheon of gods and goddess whose inter-relationships form complicated celestial dynasties, identical to those complicated family entanglements that portrayed among the rulers of Ninevah or Babylon. Sin, the Moon god, was considered to have fathered many children, among which were the twins – brother and sister, Shamash and Ishtar respectively the Sun and Venus.
Shamash, the Sun, was the great lord, the supreme judge who watched over both heaven and Earth, and who ruled over the living and the dead.
The extant myths depict the Sun as playing only a minor role in celestial events. The Mesopotamian calendar was based upon the movement of the Moon and not the Sun, which is probably one of the reasons why its portrayal was never crafted beyond a supporting role.
Many of the ancient scribes often used the same name for both the Sun and Saturn, as both were regularly called Shamash. The reason for this was because to the Babylonians Saturn was considered to be the star of ‘the Sun’.
One event that totally unnerved the ancient rulers was an eclipse of the Sun. The ancient kings were determined their astrologers should be able to predict events well in advance. Eclipses were supposed to auger sinister and malevolent periods throughout the empire, which was a cause of great concern to the rulers.
Ten solar eclipses and 38 lunar eclipses occurred from 681 to 647 BC, and the king took these events personally. It is believed that during these eclipses, a proxy ruler was installed, who was later given as a ritual human sacrifice to go to his fate.
Of all the Mesopotamian deities, probably the most widely known is the goddess Ishtar. Ishtar manifested both male and female attributes: a tablet dating from the time of Ashurbanipal states that Ishtar the evening star was female, while Ishtar the morning star was male.
Ishtar was the third deity in the astral triad. She was considered, by Ashurbanipal’s reign, to be the daughter (and first born) of Sin, the Moon, twin sister to Shamash, the Sun, and sister too of Erishkigal, the much feared queen of the underworld, and Tammuz, the dying and resurrecting god who was later to assume such prominence.
Ishtar was the queen of heaven, the beautiful goddess of love, sexuality and childbirth.
Conversely, Ishtar was also the terrible goddess of war: it was to her that Soloman sang:-
‘Who is this rising like the dawn
faith of the Moon resplendent as the Sun
terrible as an army with banners.’
It was for worshipping the goddess that Solomon was condemned in the Old Testament.
The most common symbol for Ishtar was the 8-pointed star, which indicates that for her, the number 8 was sacred. In cuneiform, her name was also the number 30, which was part of the Mesopotamian number system, as each zodiacal sign was allocated 30 degrees in the 360-degree circle.
It is believed the Virgin Mary is Christianity’s version of Ishtar because the later medieval 8 sided churches, such as the Knights Templar built, dedicated them to the European mother goddess, Mary.
The Mesopotamian Ishtar Temple complex was presided over by the High Priestess, who was probably the daughter of the king. She took the role of wife to the god in the annual sacred marriage, which was consummated in order that the lands might remain fertile.
The astrologers of Mesopotamia saw Saturn as a conquering hero. In the earliest legends, Saturn, or Ninurta, battled with ancient powers of chaos, which had erupted from the primeval womb – the ocean - in order to recover the stolen tablets of law. Possession of the tablets gave one control over destiny.
Saturn and Mars were divine brothers and warrior gods. Saturn was called Ninurta and Mars was termed Nergal. The two planets were considered to be so close in attribute that often astrologers would not refer to them separately.
There are two apparent associations of Ninurta with the Old Testament. One of Ninerta’s titles was ‘Lord of Swine’, and the biblical prescription against eating pork; Ninurta was effectively offended and rejected. The second association is in the book of Amos: this prophet is fulminating against his people for the worship of the god, Molock (Saturn), a practice he promises would bring invasion and exile.
Saturn was referred to as the ‘Star of Akkad’ and was considered lucky for the king. The planet was considered to be benevolent and important to the wellbeing of the kingdom.
For the Assyrians and Babylonians, Saturn ruled truth and justice along with law and order, factors that were seen as important in maintaining stability throughout the land of Akkad.
Mars was called Nergal, Lord of the Dead, the broth of Ninurta, or Saturn. Like Ninurta, Nergal was originally a solar deity, though in contrast to his brother Nergal was considered evil, lord of both the fires of Hell and the heart of the fierce summers that destroyed both man and crops.
Nergal’s earliest known name was the Sumerian Lugalmeslam, which was translated as King (Lugal) of the lower world where the Sun lay at night.
Marduk was the Babylonian god that represented Jupiter. This planet’s role was not always seen as beneficial: it had a dark, destructive side, which could be revealed under certain planetary aspects with the Moon and Mars.
The negative side of Jupiter has, to a certain extent, survived to be passed through medieval and enlightenment Europe to appear in modern texts. William Ransey wrote all of the beneficial qualities of Jupiter could be reversed if the planet was badly aspected, which could be interpreted as immoderation, hasty action, disharmony, and injustice through the land.
Nabu, scribe to the gods, was associated with the planet Mercury. Nabu was the messenger of the gates ‘without whom no plan is initiated in heaven’. His name literally means herald.
When the Babylonian culture fell into decline and the Persians gained greater influence, they adopted mathematical discipline to use with astrology. While the Babylonian year normally contained 12 months, it was necessary to occasionally add a 13th intercalary month to bring the calendar back into harmony with the seasons. These intercalary months were added whenever the astrologers considered it necessary, without any apparent systematic order – that is until 529bc.
The search for regularity in stellar movement continued with the discovery of the synodic periods of the planets. The synodic period is the period between consecutive conjunctions of a planet with the Sun, as seen from the earth. Additional to this was the sidereal period, which is the length of time it takes planet to pass through the entire 12 signs of the zodiac and return to its starting point. This in turn led to the formation of larger planetary periods, which were used for predicting future movements.
It was also around the time of the Persian influence that the planets became established in zodiacal signs rather than zodiacal constellations, mathematical concerns led to the sky being uniformly divided up into 12 signs of 30 degrees each. It is believed one of the major factors contributing to this development was the need to calculate the future movements of the Sun. Once established, the names of the zodiacal signs were derived from, and identical with the names of the zodiacal constellations.
Astrology also went through a radical shift in its concerns. It changed from the political, mass oriented ‘mundane’ to that in which the individual was important. The first known natal chart, from Babylon dates from 410bc, probably 29th April. While it uses the zodiacal signs, it does not reveal any degrees. The earliest natal charts that posit planets in degrees date from the Greek period of domination, the earliest being from Uruk, circa 4th April 263bc.
It was during the 5th century BC the Greeks first appeared to become seriously interested in the systematised Babylonian astrology.
A famous example was Pythagorous, who was born around 558 BC and was 19 years old when Cyrus took Babylon. When Pythagoras was 20 he went to study in Egypt. He remained there for around 25 years until the Persians captured him. Pythagoras was then taken into captivity in Babylon. While there, he was taught for some years by a leading Zoroastrian priest, Zarates, and was received into the highest esoteric mysteries of Zorastrianism, which included the doctrines for which Pythagoras is famous – that of the musical harmony of the universe.
In around 7bc the first example of an astrological chart showing an Ascendant cropped up. Balbillus, the astrologer to Roman emperors Nero and Vespasian wrote of two early charts in 72bc and 43bc, both of which had an Ascendant. Thus in a period of less than 4,000 years, astrology evolved from merely looking into the heavens to casting a horoscope for a person’s date, time and place of birth.

In The Mayan Prophecies, Adrian Gilbert and Maurice Cotterall explore the Mayan culture that existed in Mexico. The Maya had very few personal possessions other than the bare necessities of life. They cultivated the Earth using the simplest tools to grow maize and a few other staples. Meanwhile, their gorgeously attired rulers performed strange and painful rituals on them to ensure the fertility of the land. It was a stratified society to which both rulers and peasants knew their place, but there was one great difference between this culture and the Dark Age societies in Europe at the same period of time in Earth’s history. They believed they were living in the fifth age of the Sun, that prior to creation of modern men there were four previous ages and four previous races. These had all been destroyed in the great cataclysm, leaving few survivors to tell the tale. According to Mayan chronology, the present age started on 12th August 3,114bc and is due to end on 22nd December 2012ad. At that time, the Earth as we know it will be destroyed in catastrophic earthquakes.
The Mayan culture was what we would consider to be very primitive because they had no running water but the babbling brooks, and none of the modern conveniences we take so much for granted today. They did, however, have very highly developed psychic faculties. Much like the Aborigines in Australia, they made active use of dreaming as a way of foretelling the future and understanding the present. They followed the planets and stars with uncanny accuracy even though they had no telescope or modern instruments. They were deeply religious, believing like many medieval Christians did, in the need for mortification of the flesh and self-sacrifice if they were to gain entry into heaven.
The Aztecs, on the other hand, were a warrior nation who arrived in the valley of Mexico during the 13th century ad. Tradition has it that they came from a place called Aztlan, believed to have been in northern Mexico and from which the name Aztec is derived, though they called themselves Mexico. According to legend, the Mexica were led to the valley of Mexico by the seer, Tenoch. He had been told in a dream that he and his people must continue their wandering until hey came to a place he would recognise when he saw an eagle fighting with a serpent. When they arrived in the valley of Mexico, which at that time was still largely filled by a great lake, they discovered the surrounding land already occupied by five other tribes. These people were naturally apprehensive at meeting the new arrivals and not at all keen to give up their land. They therefore offered the Aztecs an uninhabited island in the middle of the lake.
The offer of the island was a barbed gift because it was infested with poisonous snakes, which they had hoped would take care of the Aztec problem. It just so happened, however, that when the Aztecs arrived at the island, they saw the sign they had been seeking: a great eagle grappling with a serpent in its beak, settled on a cactus. Within a very short time the Aztecs became the dominant tribe in the valley of Mexico.
The Aztecs adopted the local beliefs and customs, and took them to absurd lengths. Human sacrifice, and especially the removal of hearts, became the central mystery of their religion. It is estimated that for the consecration of Tenochtitlan’s main temple alone, some 20,000 victims were sacrificed. At least 50,000 unfortunates would perish this way every year.
Needless to say, the neighbouring tribes hated and feared the Aztecs, and they looked forward to the warring people’s overthrow. Their one hope lay in a half-forgotten legend that one day a god-king, a white man with a beard named Quetzalcoatl, would return from across the sea and free his people and reclaim his kingdom. As it had long been prophesied that Quetzalcoatl would return in the year 1 Reed, it was with some trepidation that Montezuma II, king of the Aztecs, heard men with beards and white faces had arrived at his kingdom that very year.
Many people believe Quetzalcoatl and Jesus the Christ were actually one and the same. This is evidenced by the fact they both walked the Earth during the same period in our history, and are believed to have taught the same message.
The Aztec myth, The Plumed Serpent, is related as follows:-
Quetzalcoatl, the serpent god, was the king of the City of the Gods. He was totally pure, innocent and good. No task was too humble for him. He even swept the paths for the rain gods so that they might come and rain.
Quetzalcoatl’s cunning brother, Tezcatlipoca, was infuriated by his perfect goodness. With some friends, Tezcatlipoca decided to play a dirty trick on Quetzalcoatl and turn him into a pleasure-seeking rascal. ‘We will give him a human face and body,’ he grinned.
Quetzacoatl was the god of vegetation and therefore, the god of Earth and Water. Quetzalcoatl was depicted as a bearded man, wearing a mask with two forward-protruding tubes, two earrings with pendants, a pectoral ornament called ‘the wind’s jewel’ and a conical hat. He was the son of the Sun god and of Coatlicure, one of the five goddesses of the Moon. He was regarded as the god of vegetation as well as the god of wind.
Quetzalcoatl was the life force, and together with his twin, Xolotl, he entered the subterranean world. There he found the bones of the ancient dead and brought them back with him, ground them to a pulp and sprinkled them with his blood. These remains came back to life and gave birth to mankind.
A kindly god, he reigned in Tula and refused human sacrifices. He gave to his faithful worshippers the growing of maize, the arts, technology, sculpture and writing. He taught them how to measure time by means of the calendar and how to discover the movement of the stars. He was present at the start of civilisation. Students were put under his tutelage.
Quetzalcoatl, the king of Tula, was the bearer of peace and prosperity. One day, Tezcatlipocan appeared and told the king about the intoxication one could experience by drinking pulque. He used a mirror to show Quetzalcoatl his crumpled face and attempted to seduce his daughter. He did all of this so well that Quetzalcoatl refused to leave his palace and finally decided to go into exile. The wickedness and evil spells of the intruder made the king lose power and the country its prosperity.
Quetzalcoatl headed westward. Having reached the ocean’s edge, he fasted for four days, attired himself in his finest garments and had a funeral pyre prepared. Then he hurled himself into the fire. Birds flew out of the flames, and in the midst of them, the king’s heart could be seen heading heavenward and changing into the planet Venus. ‘The ancients maintained that he became the star that appears at dawn, and for this reason they used to call him ‘the lord of the dawn’’.
Quetzalcoatl was regarded as one of the chief gods of the Aztecs. Sacrifices of flowers, incense and tobacco were made to him. However, none of the great annual festivals was dedicated to him. He owned a circular temple in the sacred heart of Mexico and was particularly honoured in Cholula, where his sanctuary was situated on top of the world’s largest pyramid.
They showed Quetzalcoatl his new features in a smoking mirror. As soon as Quetzalcoatl looked into the mirror and saw his face, he felt himself possessed by all the worldly desires that afflicted mankind. He cried out in horror. ‘I am no longer fit to be a king. I cannot appear like this before my people.’ He called the coyote Xolotl to him. Xolotl, who was as close to Quetzalcoatl as his own shadow, made him a coat of green, red and white feathers from the Quetzal bird. He also made him a turquoise mask, and a wing and beard of blue and red feathers. He reddened the king’s lips, painted his forehead with yellow dye, and drew on his teeth to make them look like serpent’s teeth. And so Quetzalcoatl was disguised as a plumed serpent.
However, Tezcatlipoca had thought of a new trick to play on his brother. He gave Quetzalcoatl wine, telling him it was a potion to cure his malady. Quetzalcoatl, who had never drunk alcohol before, soon became drunk. While he was in a stupor, Tezcatlipoca persuaded him to make love to his own sister, the beautiful Quetzalpetatl.
When Quetzalcoatl awoke, he was bitterly ashamed of what he had done. ‘This is an evil day,’ he said, and he resolved to die.
Quetzalcoatl ordered his servants to make a stone box, and he lay in it for four days. Then he arose and told the servants to fill the box with all his rarest treasures and seal it up.
Quetzalcoatl went to the sea and there he put on his coat of quetzal feathers and his turquoise mask. And then he set fire to himself until there was nothing left but ashes on the shore. From these ashes, rare birds rose into the sky.
When Quetzalcoatl died, the dawn did not rise for four days because Quetzalcoatl had descended to the land of the dead with his double, Xolotl, to see his father, Mictlantecuhtli. He told his father, the Lord of the Dead, ‘I have come to take the precious bones that you have here to people the Earth.’
And the Lord of the Dead replied, ‘It is well.’
Quetzalcoatl and Xolotl took the precious bones, and made their way back to the land of the living. As dawn rose once more, Quetzalcoatl sprinkled his blood over the bones and gave them life. The bones became the first people.
Quetzalcoatl taught humankind many important things. He found maize, which the ants had hidden, and stole a grain of it to give to the people he had created so they could grow food for themselves. He taught them how to polish jade, how to weave fabrics, and make mosaics. Best of all he taught them how to measure time and understand the stars, and he laid down the course of the year and the seasons.
At last it was time for Quetzalcoatl to leave humans to fend for themselves. When that day dawned, there appeared in the sky the star Quetzalcoatl, which we know as Venus. For this reason Quetzalcoatl is called Lord of the Dawn. Some say Quetzalcoatl sailed to the east on a raft of serpents, and one day will return.

During the Spanish occupation, both church and state actively discouraged scholars from publishing anything that might indicate that Mexico prior to the invasion of Cortes had any sort of civilisation or history.
Prior to the height of the Aztec civilisation, the Toltecs ruled the valley of Mexico. The Toltecs, a name meaning artist or builder, had very advanced skills in that area. The Toltecs were also skilled in astronomy, counting the days and keeping careful track of the movements of the planets.
The Aztecs used an ancient Mexican calendar that had disappeared at the time of the conquest. With the help of this calendar the Aztec priests had, so it was said, been able to keep an accurate chronology over very long periods of time. It was apparently based in 52 and 104 -year cycles, but also recorded solstices, equinoxes and the movements of the planet Venus.
Prior to the rule of the Toltecs, there had been another ace, the Olmecs, or ‘rubber people’, so called because they lived in the region of Mexico where rubber trees were indigenous. Some believe these people came from the pre-deluvian culture of Atlantis and they were the race responsible for building the pyramids at Teotihuacan.
The earliest written account of Atlantis we have is that of Plato, who in two of his last books, Criticas and Timaeus, gives a brief outline of the story. In words reminiscent of the Mayan belief in periodic destructions of the Earth, an Egyptian priest explains to Solon, the great lawgiver of Athens:-
‘You (the Athenians) remember only one deluge, though there have been many…. You and your fellow citizens are descendent from the few survivors that remained, but you know nothing about it because so many succeeding generations left no record in writing….
‘Our records tell how your city (Athens) checked a great power, which arrogantly advanced from it base in the Atlantic Ocean to attack the cities of Europe and Asia. For these days the Atlantic was navigable. There was an island opposite the strait, which you call, so you say, the Pillars of Hercules, an island larger than Libya and Asia combined; from its travellers could in those days reach the other islands, and from them the whole opposite continent, which surrounds what can truly be called the ocean……
‘On this island of Atlantis had arisen a powerful and remarkable dynasty of kings, who ruled the whole island, and many islands as well as parts of the continent; in addition, it controlled, within the strait, Libya up to the borders of Egypt and Europe up as far as Tyrrhenia (Tuscany)….
‘At a later time there were earthquakes and floods of extraordinary violence, and in a single dreadful day and night all your (Athenians) fighting men were swallowed up by the Earth and the island of Atlantis was similarly swallowed by the sea and vanished; this is why the sea in that area is to this day impassable to navigation, which is hindered by mud just below the surface, the remains of the sunken island.’
In Plato’s other account of the myth, Critias, he tells us that 9,000 years have elapsed since the declaration of war between those who lived outside and those who lived inside the Pillar of Hercules. It is not known how long this war lasted, but it is clearly implied it began before the Atlanteans took control of Libya and Europe as far as Tuscany. Since Plato’s account was written in 550bc, the outbreak of the war must have been around 9,500bc, a time when it is believed Europe was just emerging out of the last ice age.
Edgar Cayce’s depiction of Atlantis – or at least which has been gleaned from his sleeping reports, is that of an advanced civilisation that fell prey to temptation. In words that seem curiously applicable to present day America, he traces the way that a technologically advanced civilisation (apparently with aeroplanes, lasers and other modern machinery) turned its back on God and immersed itself in the delights of materialism. Then a series of cataclysms brought on by the Atlanteans’ misuse of natural forces, their island paradise erupted and was consigned to the depths of the Atlantic Ocean.
According to the Cayce readings, not all the Atlanteans died when their native lands went under the waves. Many escaped by boats, whereas others in anticipation of what was to happen – had already moved overseas. As might be expected, they mostly went to the lands bordering the Atlantic, to North Africa, Spain, Portugal, France and Britain. This, it would seem, was the origin of Plato’s great invasion of the Mediterranean. It is believed the Atlantean settlers did go to Egypt and also Central America.
While in a trance state, Cayce related that Atlantis sank in the ocean around 10,600 bc, and there was great turmoil in the world generally. Because of its geographical location, Egypt was one of the few safe places in the world and was therefore invaded not only by Atlanteans in the West, but other people from the East. These newcomers were white skinned Aryans coming from the region of Mount Ararat in what is now eastern Turkey. Because the native inhabitants of the Nile were at that time dark skinned and the Atlanteans were mostly red, Egypt became something of a racial melting pot. Of the races, the Atlanteans were the most culturally advanced, and brought with them some of their technology including the ability to raise large rocks and build pyramids. However, the invaders from the East were the dominant military power, and it was they, under their King Osiris, who took over the land. It would seem that out of this strange mixture of races arose a new civilisation with a new religion, an amalgamation of the old animism of the black indigenous population and that of Osiris and his followers.
The account Edgar Cayce gave is depicted in the Genesis account of the Great Flood, though in a rather garbled way. If Moses, the purported author of Genesis was born, raised, and educated in Egypt, it seems quite likely the Egyptian version of the Great Flood was the one he reported. In Genesis, it is said Noah’s ark settled on Mount Ararat and he had three sons; Shem, Ham and Japheth, the progenitors of three races. If we equate Noah with Osiris, then the Biblical sons are seen as the three founding races of Egypt. The red-skinned Atlanteans, the white Araratians, and the black Egyptians. This accords well with Cayce’s account, which states that Osiris ruled over a united multi-cultural kingdom.
A likely position for the island of Atlantis is in the region of the West Indies, where in addition to the presence of many islands, the sea is quite shallow. Here, at least, it is possible to postulate the sinking of Atlantis was really more of a rising of the sea, brought about the melting of ice sheets as the last ice age came to an end in 10,5000 bc.
Edgar Cayce prophesised that Atlantis would rise again. This process would be gradual, beginning in 1968-1969 some strange submarine ruins were indeed discovered off the coast of Bimini Atoll, in very nearly the area he said they would be.
What Dr Mansion Valentine found while diving off the coast of Bimini was a long straight wall consisting of a large rectangular blocks. The sheer sizes of the blocks implies that if they are not natural, then whoever laid them there must have been in possession of some very advance technology.
It would appear that what Valentine had discovered was the remains of a system of coastal defences against encroachment by the sea, which lends support to Cayce’s claim that Bimini was a part of the ancient island of Posedia. It would seem that as the sea level rose, the Poseidans attempted to hold back the water with walls – great dikes made of stone blocks. The final cataclysm must have come about when these could no longer hold back the sea and Poseidia itself was overwhelmed. Only the highest mountaintops remained above sea level and the people who survived the catastrophe were forced to migrate elsewhere.
Cayce prophesised that when the time was right, a secret chamber would be found at Bimini. He also predicted two similar chambers will be found elsewhere – one near the Sphinx in Egypt, and the other among the ruins of Iltar’s temple in Yucatan. All three would be found to contain records relating to Atlantis and its final destruction around 10,500bc.
Ancient ruins, called the Great City of Serpents, located in Palenque, are said to have been built by people who came from the Atlantic led by a man called Votan, whose symbol was the serpent. According to legend, Votan made four trips backwards and forwards across the Atlantic of his old home call Vallum Chivim, which is believed to have been Tripoli in Phoenicia. It is implied, therefore, that Votan was a Phoenician sailor who had discovered the Americas perhaps 2 millennium or more before Columbus.
Some believe the Maya are descendants from Atlantis, the great island continent in the Atlantic Ocean. When Atlantis was destroyed, the survivors are believed to have brought their culture to Egypt and Central America, which helps to explain why there are so many similarities between the Egyptian and Mayan alphabets.
Other people, such as the Mormons, believe the Native Americans are actually the lost tribe of Israel, and the Book of Mormon, channelled by Joseph Smith, chronicles their history. The Mayans used an elaborate calendar. In fact, they actually used two such devices. The first calendar was a repeating cycle so 260 days, called a tzolkin, and the second a ‘vague year’ of 365 days. Both calendars were intercalated in a wheel format.
The Mayan calendar signalled the Birth of Venus, which was the ‘first’ rising of the planet Venus.
The Mayans were great astronomers, and they were especially interested in the movements of the Pleiades star cluster and the planets Mercy, Venus, Mars and Jupiter. In addition, the Mayans took an active interest in sunspots. Like the Earth, the Sun rotates on its north-south axis. However, whereas the Earth has a hard, rocky crust and therefore turns like a solid ball, the Sun is composed of superheated plasma gas and does not rotate uniformly. In fact, the Sun rotates more slowly at its poles than it does at its equator, giving rise to a solar day of 37 Earth days at the poles and only 26 at its equator.
The Sun also has a very elaborate magnetic field, which has an effect on the sunspots occurring cyclically every 11.1 years. As part of the Sun’s magnetic field, it has a thin neutral zone between the two magnetic zones, which is called the warped neutral sheet. This sheet is highly significant in the formation of sunspots and plays an important role in the design of the Mayan calendar.
According to Mayan myth, there were four ages prior to this one, and the dates of the ages correspond to the cycles of the warped neutral sheet.
According to Aztec mythology, the Earth is in its fourth and final age:-
Like the Aztecs, the Maya believed there had been four other creations before our own. During these, the gods fashioned different races of people first out of clay and then out of wood. These earthly races were incapable of fulfilling what was to be the prime purpose of humanity, to cultivate the Earth and supply the gods with prayers and sacrifices. They were therefore destroyed, with only a few individuals remaining.

Shane O’Brien wrote a book about the origins of Venus, the second planet in our solar system. Based upon ancient texts and the fact Venus appears to have changed its position within the last several years, it is believed that in ancient times Venus was an entirely different planet.
To begin with, between 1,300 to 1,200 BC the Egyptian calendar saw an increase of five days. It went from the customary 360 days to 365 days, which is what we use in modern times. It is also interesting to note that man’s circadian rhythm is based upon a 28-hour day, as opposed to our Earth’s present 24 hour day. This indicates that in addition to the length of the year increasing, the length of the day must have decreased at some point in our recent planetary past, as our bodies have not yet adjusted to the change. The Earth’s change from a 360-day year to a 365-day year was a worldwide occurrence, as all civilisations, working independently of each other, gradually changed their calendar to 365 days. The 5 intercalary days were considered to be the unfortunate days of the year, which indicates that something malefic must have occurred to give them such an association.
In addition, every major culture on this Earth, ranging from Scandinavia to South America has recorded in their mythology a major catastrophic event, which involves the planet Venus. In every myth violent earthquakes, floods, and the Sun darkening for a period of hours to days is the main theme of each and every story.
Even the Old Testament refers to the ancient catastrophe that involved Venus in the Exodus story.
In Egyptian mythology Ra (who represents Jupiter) realises the inhabitants of Earth had been conspiring against him. Ra consulted the other Gods (or planets) and it was decided he would turn his divine eye against the human race. The eye of Ra became his daughter, the goddess Hathor (Venus), who executes vengeance against the humans. Hathor rushed upon the guilty and massacred them without pity until Ra, appeased, put an end to the bloodshed, for his goodness would not be exterminated. The ingratitude of men however, had instilled in Ra a loathing for the world, for which reason he withdrew himself beyond reach. The god Nut (the vault of the sky) changed herself into a cow and took Ra on her back, raising him high into the vault of heaven. With the Sun installed in this new skyward path, the present order of the world commenced.
Ancient drawings depict Hathor as a disk, which appears to have horns extending from both sides. Such a glyph resembles what a comet would look like as it passed through the heavens.
Greek mythology tells of Phaeton, whose name means ‘blazing one’. According to myth, Phaeton entreated his father, the Sun, for permission to drive the Chariot of the Sun across the sky, but when given the opportunity, Phaeton could not control the horses, which broke lose from their course. The myth is related as follows:-
‘The Chariot of the Sun driven by Phaeton moved no longer in the same course as before. It was borne along just as a ship driven before the headlong blast, whose pilot has let the now useless rudder go.
‘The Earth bursts into flame, the highest parts first, and splits into deep cracks, and its moisture is all dried up. The meadows are burned to white ashes, the trees are consumed.
‘Greek cities perish with their walls, and the vast conflagration reduces whole nations to ashes. The woods are ablaze with the mountains. Then also Libya became a desert, for the heat died up her moisture.
‘The rivers boiled and steamed while their banks burned. Even the sea shrinks up, and what was a great watery expanse is now a dry plain of sand. The mountains, which the deep sea had covered up, spring forth.’
The Bible also refers to an event of magnificent proportions. Joshua 13 states, ‘the Sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hastened not to go down the whole day… and the Moon stayed…’
In ancient times it is believed Venus had a much more elliptical path than it currently has. This path took it from the region of Jupiter’s orbit to a perihelion around the Sun. With such an orbit, it would traverse the paths of both Mars and Earth.
Because in ancient times Venus had a much more elliptical orbit, behaving more like a comet than a planet, it came much closer to Earth and appeared much larger than it presently does. Venus’s larger perceived size explains why it gained so much prominence to ancient peoples.
All ancient civilisations recorded three major objects in their respective systems of astrology, which were the Sun, Moon and Venus. The Bible mentions Venus on several occasions, referring to it as the Morning Star, the Evening Star, and the Queen of Heaven.
Because Venus was visible in full daylight, it rivalled our Sun in its brightness. Venus’s highly elliptical orbit is most probably one of the reasons why some ancients considered us to have two Suns or two Moons. Ancient texts state there was a golden age when the Earth was illuminated at all times, and there appeared to be two Suns operating as a binary star system. This apparition could have in fact been Venus with its highly elliptical orbit, competing with both the Sun and the Moon in intensity. It is felt Venus behaved initially more like a comet than a planet because it was surrounded by a highly gaseous atmosphere the human eye could quite easily see, which should be an good indication of how close Venus actually came to our Earth. Because it took Venus 50 years to orbit half of it’s cycle, it could have an orbit of 100 years, which could very well have placed it between Uranus and Neptune.
It is believed the catastrophe concerning Venus occurred in two stages. Because Venus had such an elliptical orbit it would come very close to the Earth on two separate occasions. The first time Venus wrecked havoc on the Earth was during the Exodus account in the Bible, which is believed to have been around the 13th century bc. The second incident occurred around 50 years later when Venus made its second pass around the Earth, and is recorded in the Biblical account of Joshua 10. It is no wonder, therefore, that Venus played such an important role in Old Testament times and many people worshipped her.
Another important point to keep in mind with regard to the Venus catastrophe is every culture has in their mythology a period of darkness lasting from three to five days, which is believed to have occurred around 1,300bc, corresponding with the Exodus event.
In Persia, the blazing star Venus was known as Mithra, whose physical attributes in myth led to the misconception that Mithra was a solar deity.
In ancient times, Venus was so close to the Earth it was perceived to be so bright it was visible in full daylight, and when she moved across the sky she rivalled the Sun in brightness.
In modern times, Venus is less than 1/1,000,000th the light of the Sun. The ancient Chaldeans called Venus a ‘stupendous prodigy in the sky’, which certainly does not apply to the appearance of the star as we know it.
In Greek mythology, as conveyed in such works as Theogony, the Iliad and the Odyssey. Pallas Athene or Venus, sprang from Jupiter’s head. The birth is related in the Iliad as:-
‘When Zeus swallowed his wife Metis, she had been about to give birth to a child. Shortly afterwards Zeus was tormented by an unbearable headache. Then from a gaping wound in the head of Zeus sprang Athene with a triumphant show – fully brandishing a sharp javelin. Thereupon Athene darted down to Earth a gleaming star. At this sight all the immortals were struck with astonishment and filled with awe. Greek Olympus was profoundly shaken by the dash of the bright-eyed goddess. The Earth echoed with a terrible sound, the sea was moved and its dark waters rose, and the Sun stopped for a while. Thus alone, unaided, Zeus gave birth to Athene.’
It is believed the planet/comet Venus was born around 3,000 bc, as designated by the Mayan codex that chronicled the position of Venus in the sky. Because Venus is believed to have been born around 5,000 years ago, it is a very young planet indeed.
Around 1ad a powerful world event arose that led to the metamorphous of the planet. Legendary accounts among the Native American people depict a prodigious episode wherein Venus flared up and filled the heavens with light. Plumes of resplendence and other effects streamed from the planet, giving rise to the Feathered Serpent entity of ancient Mexico.
The event of 1ad without a doubt involved a fire in the heavens. The ancient legends clearly depict this with references to ‘the god’s hearth’, wherein was laid a great fire, and the contest between a celestial orb and the Moon, to see which would ‘be the first to cost himself into the fire’. It is believed that in order for this to occur, at that time Venus must have had a combustible atmosphere that ignited and burned off.
During the event of 1ad, Quetzalcoatl, the great Mexican god, is said to have walked the Earth, imparting to Mexicans wisdom and knowledge so they could live their lives in harmony with the Earth and more in line with cosmic spiritual values. It is important to note also that during this time Christ is said to have walked the Earth.
Codex Fuenleal indicates the apparition of Venus as the ‘medium Sun’, which brought the night of no darkness is said to have taken place 600 years after the birth of the four god-brothers, or principle lineages that emanated from the four ancestral personages. In the Nephite record, or Book of Mormon, and accurate historical account of the four lineages in America began around 600bc. The Nephite record is also clear in designating the cosmic miracle as a sign that heralded the birth of Christ. This celestial event could very well have been the star the ‘three wise men’ were looking for, which signalled the birth of Jesus the Christ.
Because Quetzalcoatl and Jesus Christ both walked the Earth at the same time in mankind’s history, some people believe the Christ and Quetzalcoatl were actually one in the same. The parallel between Christ and Quetzalcoatl is demonstrated further in the ancient histories of Mexico wherein Quetzacoatl is also called Topiltzin. This appellation signifies ‘the son’ as Christ also was.
Mexican histories relate that ‘Quetzalcoatl departed or died on the day Nahui-Ollin when the Earth convulsed in shattering earthquakes, hurricanes and other effects. The native legends affirm a cataclysm occurred at the death or departure of Quetzalcoatl corresponds with the fact that when Christ departed the Earth, a great destruction did indeed fall upon ancient America. Another parallel, therefore relates to the similarity between Christ and Quetzlcoatl.
Even in the New Testament of the Bible, Jesus said to the Jews, ‘Other sheep I have which are not of the fold, them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice.’ (John 10:16). Accordingly, the Nephite record written over 1,600 years ago detailed an account of how the resurrected Lord, descended out of the sky and ministered to the inhabitants of America.
Because the departure of both Christ and Quetzacoatl in 34ad are not described by celestial cataclysm of sorts, it is believed the event that occurred was more of earthly proportions, such as a shift in the Earth’s crust or axis of rotation.
The New Testament states that during the crucifixion ‘the Earth did quake and the rocks rent.’ The centurions and others watched the earthquake and marvelled. And it was about the sixth hour, and there was darkness over all the Earth until the ninth hour. And the Sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst. The darkening of the Sun lasted three hours.’
When a pole shift occurs, the crust of the Earth’s axis, latitudes and/or longitudes are likely to change. For example, in the 8th century BC the city of Babylon must have been about 2 ½ degrees further north than at present. Ancient data shows the city to have been situated at about a latitude of 35 degrees, while the present location of Babylon is 32 ½ degrees, which amounts to a difference of about 88 kilometres. Therefore, some time after the 8th century BC, the inclination of the Earth increased sufficiently to move Babylon 88 kilometres south of its former latitude. An event of such magnitude surely could not have gone unnoticed.
Time Line 3,000bc This is when Venus is supposed to have been born. According to myth, Zeus swallowed up his wife, Metis, and subsequently gave birth to Venus from his head. It is believed this myth refers to the planetary activities in our solar system. With this in mind, a body made its way into Jupiter’s orbit and was swallowed up into the atmosphere. This event caused Venus to be ejected from Jupiter. This celestial body had an extremely elliptical orbit and is believed to have initially behaved more like a comet than a planet. 1,300 to 1,200bc Venus made its first really close pass to Earth, and is depicted in the book of Exodus in the Old Testament of the Bible. The event brought about plagues, pestilence and odd occurrences on Earth, which was attributed to the divine hand of God and enabled the Jews to leave Egypt. 50 years later Venus made its second close pass to Earth, and is depicted in the book of Joshua in the Old Testament of the Bible. The event caused the Earth to shift on its axis, earthquakes, hurricanes, and general destruction of the Earth. 1ad This time is signalled as the birth of Christ and Quetzecoatl. Venus’s atmosphere burned off, which caused the sky to lighten up and enabled the Three Wise Men (or astrologers) to locate the newly born Jesus. When the atmosphere of Venus burned off, its characteristics became more like a planet and it settled in to its current orbit. Prior to that time, it was considered to be a comet, followed a different orbit in our solar system, and rivalled the Sun and Moon in brightness. 34ad This is the time the Christ and Quetzecoatl departed the Earth plane. It is believed this event was signalled by a minor shift of the Earth’s axis, which brought about darkness, earthquakes, and a change of the geographical locations of the major cities of the day.
