7.5.9: mobi`trailer/
mobi#trailer.tow
7.5.9: summary
. the trailer.tow (aka: bike n trailer) is a major architectural branch
that separates the mobi design into {velocar, trailer }
. there can be more stock parts used this way,
but it's a less efficient choice since the velocar needs to have 3 or 4
wheels anyway,
because going very slowly to pull heavy loads will tip over a 2-wheeled
car
. combining the trailer with the velocar means they can share many
parts,
and reduce the number of wheels from 5 to 3
-- replacing the entire velocar with a unicycle! .
5.11.03:
mobilehome/modular:
. instead of making the thing fit in one box,
consider car with trailer model
. a trailer could provide an upright place that served as both
out.house and sit shower
. it would be easier to design the car this way?
7.5.8: yes,
because form following function, this way halves to amount of
functionality needed by any one module .
6.1.22: mobi#[bike n
trailer]
. another option to avoid worrying about the dahon-trailer trike`s
viability
is to easily and surely convert any bike into a towing vehicle,
by first converting an ordinary dolly | hand truck
into a hand towing device -- a bike`s hitching trailer --
by fitting it with a hitch`s ball,
and then attaching the dolly to the bike in the usual way
( which at the moment is to use 2 nylon straps to hold the dolly`s
handle to the bike`s rack )
. the nice thing about the dolly n bike combo,
is that including a dolly in the situation makes it easy to
transport the bike when it's inclosed in an awkward fairing .
6.4.14
. why need a recumbent? the folding.bike has a low profile,
and excellent gearing,
so just put it back together and hang the trailer boom on it`s seat tube
after installing a ball there or on a seat post!
7.3.18:
. I feared the trailer weight could too easily turn the bike over
when something obstructed just one side of the trailer and made it
swing around
. what is needed is something like worn training wheels, only stronger,
hovering in the air
and/or have the trailer`s boom connected to a very low point on the
bike
to one side or the other
. imagine the backwheel completely covered in metal except at the
bottom,
and there was a certain reinforcing frame embedded
apon which there could be attached on one side a trailer ball,
so that the trailer could be hitched near the ground and under a rear
axle on one side or the other .
