Chapter 9

When Tammy arrived at her house, Matt was sitting on the porch.

"Hey," – Tammy

"So, what happened?" – Matt

"Nothing, I just told him we didn’t belong." – Tammy

"And he stood for that?" – Matt

"Yea, I guess." Matt couldn’t believe what he was hearing. " you seem disappointed," Tammy said partly smiling.

"Well, I just thought he’d say something, that’s all." – Matt

"Oh." – Tammy

"Well, I better get going. It’s getting late." – Matt

"Ok."- Tammy "Yea, but I’m not going." – Tammy

"Why not?" – Matt

"I don’t have a dress and who would I go with?" – Tammy

"I’ll take you then. And you can go shopping tomorrow after school with me too." – Matt

"Well, are you sure you want to go?" – Tammy

"Of coarse I want to go." – Matt

"Well, ok then but only if you want to." – Tammy

"Ok, I’ll pick you up at school tomorrow then. " – Matt

"Ok." – Tammy

"Ok, bye Tammy. See you tomorrow." – Matt

"Bye." – Tammy. Matt got in his car and drove off. Tammy walked inside and sat down at the table. Five minutes later the doorbell rang. Tammy got up and opened the door to reveal Laney standing on the front porch.

"LANEY!" – Tammy

"HI!!" – Laney. Tammy threw open the door and hugged Laney. "Well, I begged my parents to let me live with my Aunt and they finally agreed!" - Laney "Please no more JC. I’ve had enough." – Tammy

"Did he ask you out yet?" – Laney

"How do you know about it?" – Tammy

"Matt called me in Maryland." – Laney

"Oh. So you going to school tomorrow?" –Tammy

"Yup. Mind if I call my Aunt to pick me up?" – Laney

"Oh, no go ahead. Hey, why don’t you spend the night?" – Tammy

"Ok I’ll ask." – Laney

"Here," Tammy handed the phone to Laney.

So Laney spent the night at Tammy’s house. Thing were finally beginning to look uphill.

The next morning Tammy and Laney got ready for school. While walking down the street they bumped into Robbie,

"Hi Tammy. Hey Laney." – Robbie

"Hello." – Tammy and Laney

"So did you hear what happened?" – Robbie

"No, what?" – Tammy

"Haylee’s going to the prom with JC." – Robbie. Tammy’s face had a look of distress and bewilderment plastered across it.

"Oh." – Tammy

"So since he wasn’t going with you, I was wondering if you might like to go with me?" – Robbie. Tammy’s face reddened slightly and Laney giggled to herself.

"Well uh, I dunno. See I was kinda already going with one of my friends but I guess I can get a reign check." – Tammy

"Ok, find out and I’ll call you." – Robbie

"Ok here is my cell phone number because I won’t be home." Tammy took out a pen and wrote the number on his hand.

"Ok, well I guess I’ll see ya later then." – Robbie

"Ok." – Tammy. Robbie ran across the street to his cousin David who was waiting for him. David waved at Laney and Tammy from the other end of the street with a smile on his face. The girls waved back. Tammy had known Josh for about 7 years. David was only about 4 and a half feet tall. Even though she had known David for so long she only knew Robbie for about 2 years. And even then, she didn’t know him very well.

"Hey Laney?" – Tammy

"Yea." – Laney

"You wanna go to the prom with Matt?" Tammy and Laney laughed as they continued on their way to school.
