FINGERS TEXT DISCOGRAPHY

SINGLES & EPS

The First Time/Barracuda 7" (Pre BS, no #, 1991)
Tracks:
  1. The First Time (The Boys)
  2. Barracuda
Notes: One of the elusive Pre BS Records singles, this one is the Fingers' debut single, on friend Rusty Quan's label. One sided, the flip is scratched to hell with a knife or something. Also the upper right corner of the butcher paper sleeve is cut off, I guess to suggest a cut out. There is a bootleg/repress of questionable origin, on Infected Records that isn't scratched on the other side, but I haven't been able to track this one down. A great single with a cover of the Texas punks The Boys' "The First Time." Limited pressing of no more than 500 copies.

You Get On My Nerves 7" (Bag of Hammers, no #, 1992?)
Tracks:
  1. You Get On My Nerves
  2. She's (A Bit) Unkind
Notes: Sophmore Release, last release while band was still active. Recorded and Engineered by Trent Ruane, the singer of the Mummies. Most Bag of Hammers releases have the first 100 pressed on red vinyl, but this is a very early single on that label, and I've never seen one, so it may not exist. 1000 pressed.

The Rusty Quan E.P. 1992 7" (Rat City, RC-8, 1994?)
Tracks:
  1. Doin' Me In (Garrett/Moore)
  2. What's In It For Me
  3. Rock N' Roll Girl (Phil Collins) (!)
  4. That's Rock N' Roll (E. Carmen)
Notes: The Fingers are apparently opening or closing for Supercharger in the pic on the cover, as the bass drum says "Supercharger" on it. I can't say anything else that Shane White doesn't say on the back:
Dear Fans,
Over the past two years I have been pestered by every Tom, Dick, and Harry independent record lable (sic) nerd to comb my vast vaults fer unreleased fingers recordings. The hilarious thing about it all is that The Fingers were such utter failures in their own time. We always had a hard time trying to get booked into any clubs, and when we did manage to play out, it was to about fifteen people!! The two singles we did were no better, nobody bought them. So after all this time I'm expected to believe that there are actually Fingers fans out there besides Rusty Quan? I mean fer christsakes, Rusty was our soul supporter!! The four songs selected fer this E.P. are amongst some of Rusty's favorites. All of them were recorded in April of '92 by Mr. Raul Balcarcel in his wall to wall pornography ridden kitchen on a potable (sic) AM/FM tape recorder which used to belong to his older sister during the mid-70s while he was growing up in New York. Actually, the "louder" of the fourincluded here was done fer the never released Pre-B.S. split single with Supercharger. It was recently redone fer The Rip Offs L.P. but that version sucks balls compaired (sic) to this one. {Just a note, this track, "What's In It For Me", along with Supercharger's "Zodiac," were the tracks slated to be on the split. Both were played by The Rip Offs on the "Got A Record" LP, and the Supercharger track was released on the repress of their debut self-titled album on Estrus. -Lump}
It's funny 'cause nowadays all this garage crap is the big hit with college kids everywhere. It's made a lot of unworthy people into superstars. Now San Fransico is considered a mecca fer real rock n roll bands, when in all actuallity ut's (sic) nothing more than a dog eat dog pit of snakes. Nobody was interested in this shit five years ago, and because of that things were quite innocent.
The great laugh about it all is, The Fingers were just a wannabe cheap reflection of The Raspberries. That was the reason fer the blazers and ties, we were so lame and inadaquate that we couldn't play as good as the Raspberries or afford any decent equipment so we got lumped in with the garage circuit. We wanted to be a pop band from the get-go but were stifled by lack of ability. We wanted to sound good but it was impossible due to all sorts of things, such as poverty. The Fingers were a real fucking underclass band!! And I'd also like to note that The Fingers were not a San Francisco based group like so many people believe, we were spawned from fucking East Los Angeles!!
-Mr. Shane White

Melons on Melrose: 1990 Demo Tapes (Pure Filth, PFR-595903, 1996)
Tracks:
  1. Supermarket Flirt
  2. Go Out With Me
  3. Elle Don't Care
  4. She's Just Eleven
Notes: On Shane's own Pure Filth label, this lil' slice o' wax gives some of the first recordings of these guys, recorded 7/15/90 in Tito's Garage. These are 4 songs from a demo tape they made to shop for gigs when they first started up. All are written by Shane except, not surprisingly, "She's Just Eleven." The song is what about what it sounds like it's about. Great stuff, and outta print. Limited, prolly to 1000, but no real idea, that's a guess.
