The Mission

Squall and Rinoa were sitting in the little café, keeping a close watch on the bank across the street. Zell, Seifer, Selphie and Quistis were parked in the surveillance van, keeping an eye on everything going on in the bank.

“How’s he doing,” Selphie whispered?

Quistis took her binoculars, and looked toward the café. Rinoa was sitting next to Squall, her arm around his shoulders. Squall was holding her hand, and it looked like they were your every day normal couple to people who did not know Squall. But Quistis could see the uneasiness in his eyes. And it looked like he wanted to be anywhere but in that café with Rinoa.

“Okay, as can be expected,” Quistis answered.

“Well . . . having to pretend to be HER girlfriend is so wrong. Poor Irvine,” Selphie moaned. Irvine knew of this and was currently at the Garden, training in the Training Center, taking out his anger on un-expecting fiends. Probably pretending they were Rinoa and Cid.

“I couldn’t do it,” Zell muttered.

“Ha, I wouldn’t let you,” Seifer informed the younger blond.

“Sure like you can say no to Cid,” Quistis said, rolling her eyes, “Squall tried that.”

“Yeah, and Cid wouldn’t hear of it,” Selphie looked back to the monitors. “This is getting boring,” she muttered, “come on rob the place already.”

“The contact at the bank said that the bank would be robbed today. One of the employees left their plans behind. They don’t know who is doing it, but expect it’s a man,” Zell said, reading from his folder.

“And tell me why Rinoa and Squall had to go undercover as a couple,” Selphie muttered?

“Not sure,” Zell replied.

“Cause they needed, someone to keep look out, but they needed them to look,” Quistis pointed over the café, “like they were just a normal couple out for lunch. So when they entered the bank, the robber wouldn’t see through their cover.”

“Oh,” Zell looked at the monitors, starting to feel as bored as Selphie, “gah, will they hurry up and rob the place.”

Seifer laughed, “we’re not supposed to want the place to be robbed.”

“Yeah, we’re supposed to be stopping it from being robbed,” Quistis said.

“Well I’m bored,” Zell and Selphie whined at the same time.

“Squall,” Rinoa said, in a sugar sweet voice.

“...”

An annoyed look crossed Rinoa’s face, “hey, don’t go quiet on me,” She whined, snuggling up to his side.

“...” Wonder if I’d get fired if I push her off her seat.

Only one way to find out.

Yeah, I could say it was an accident.

“SQUALL,” Rinoa whined, “hey! Come on let’s make the best of this.”

“...”

“I know we broke up,” Rinoa whispered, as not to blow their cover, “but I’m willing to give us another chance.”

“...” Shiva, save me. You think I’d get fired if I summoned you and . . .

Um, that would be a yes.

Dang . . .

“Squall,” Rinoa purred, “we’ve got to be convincing as a couple,” she whispered. “Kiss me.”

“...” Ugh, Shiva I’m going to throw up. Think I’ll be fired if I throw up on her . . .

Haha, probably not, but couples wouldn’t normally do that.

You always spoil my fun . . .

“Squall . . . ”

“WHAT,” Squall finally said out loud. “Do you mind? We have to keep watch on the bank.”

Rinoa started to pout, “fine. But didn’t you hear I was willing to give us another chance?”

Squall gritted his teeth, “this is not the time,” He yelled in a quiet voice.

Rinoa slumped in her seat. Haha, I told you it wouldn’t work.

Shut up, Gal.

“Haha,” Selphie laughed, “Squall just yelled at Rinoa.”

“Selphie,” Quistis scolded, “you’re supposed to be watching the inside of the bank, not Squall and Rinoa.”

“But nothing’s happening in there,” Selphie whined.

“Oh yeah,” Seifer pointed to one of the monitors, “look at that guy.” Everyone turned to look at what Seifer pointed out. There was a man in the lobby, who was wearing a cap low on his head, hiding his hair and he had on dark sunglasses.

“That a gun,” Selphie questioned?

“Where,” Zell asked?

“In his pants,” Selphie said pointing to a bulge in his pocket.

“I almost bet it is,” Quistis said. “Come on contact Squall.”

Zell raised his watch to his face, “Quezacotl to Shiva.”

“This is Shiva,” Squall’s voice spoke out of Zell’s watch, “what’s your status?”

“We have spotted the potential perpetrator,” Zell whispered into his watch.

“Where’s his location,” Squall asked?

“In the lobby, proceed inside. Quezacotl out.”

“Roger, Shiva out.”

Selphie, Zell, Quistis and Seifer watched as Rinoa and Squall exited the café, and walked across the street hand in hand. Rinoa looked like she was in Heaven, and Squall looked like he wanted to die. Of course only his friends could understand this, other people would think they looked like a normal couple.

The two went in, and everyone turned to the monitors, and watched as, Rinoa went to withdraw some gil, while Squall stood back and pretended to watch her, but was really watching the man in the sunglasses.

“Do they have on bullet prof vests,” Selphie asked, feeling worried?

“Yes,” Quistis assured Selphie.

“Good,” Selphie said, breathing a sigh of relief.

“Hey, hey, hey look,” Zell shouted, “he’s going for the gun.”

Zell was right, the man was slowly reaching into his pocket, and he pulled out a small gun.

Everyone watched through squinted eyes, in fear as the man approached Rinoa.

Rinoa! Behind you, Galleon screamed into the brown-haired girls head.

Rinoa whipped around and her eyes went wide. There was a gun pointed at her.

Squall went to run to her side, “I wouldn’t do that if I were you,” the man screeched, “or your girlfriend gets it.”

Squall stopped. Rinoa wasn’t his girlfriend, but he really didn’t want her to be shot.

“That’s more like it,” the man grinned at Rinoa. “Now dear, I want you to ask that nice teller for all of her money.”

Rinoa nodded, taking the bag, the man had in his other hand.

“We’ve got to get in there,” Zell shouted, “we are the back up after all.”

Everyone nodded, jumping out of the van, and running up to the bank.

“Everyone ready,” Selphie shouted?

Everyone nodded, running into the bank.

Rinoa had just filled the bag up, when she and Squall’s back up ran into the bank.

“Everyone down,” Selphie shouted, throwing a light bomb.

The bomb went off and everyone was blinded. All but Selphie’s group and Squall’s who knew to close their eyes.

Squall ran up to the man, and wrestled the gun out of his hands, lightly hitting him over the head with it. It was enough to knock him out, but not seriously hurt him.

“Is everyone okay,” Quistis shouted?

“The blinding is only temporary,” Selphie assured everyone.

Everyone was okay, and the next half hour was spent, getting everyone safely away from the bank, so the could wait out the side effects of the bomb. The robber was arrested and taken to a medical center.

“Whoo,” Selphie exclaimed, walking back into the Garden, “what a day.”

“Yeah,” Quistis grinned, hugging her.

Rinoa’s eyes bugged out, “are you two . . . ”

“Dating,” Selphie giggled, “yes.”

“Oh,” Rinoa “is anyone else dating, I should know about,” she teased, raising her eyebrow when everyone turned white.

“What?” Rinoa gave Squall a funny look. The teen was red. “What’s wrong Squall?”

“...”

“Ahh, you made him dot dot dot,” Selphie screamed, trying to lighten the mood. Squall just glared at the girl, rolling his eyes. Selphie sure could be weird sometimes.

“Squall,” Rinoa whined. “Let’s go talk about . . . you know what,” Rinoa giggled, pulling on Squall’s arm.

“...”

“SQUALLLLLLLLLLLLL,” A loud male voice screamed!

Squall looked up and smiled. Rinoa nearly fainted. Did he just smile?

Irvine ran up to the group, shooting Rinoa a dirty look. “How was the mission,” he asked?

“It went good,” Squall said, walking off with Irvine.

Rinoa huffed, turning red with anger, “he’ll talk to Irvine, but not to me.”

Selphie and Zell snickered. Seifer just smirked, and Quistis hid a smile that was threatening to emerge.

“WHAT,” Rinoa screamed at them, totally not getting why Squall was being so talkative with Irvine?

“Nothing,” Selphie said, having a hard time keeping a straight face.

“Oh come on . . . what?”

Selphie paused, thinking about something, “well you remember that play you wrote?”

“Sure, the Christmas one. Too bad I had to leave on a mission. How did it go?”

“It went well,” Selphie replied. “And Squall and Irvine played the leads.”

With that said, Selphie, Zell, Quistis and Seifer left the girl to her thoughts.
