Squall jumped, “yeah.”
“You thinking about something?”
“Thinking I want to go hit . . . ”
Squall! Shiva scolded.
Irvine laughed, “hit who?”
“Shiva won’t let me say it.”
Irvine laughed, “hey Shiva let him tell me, perdy please.”
Tell him I think he’s very cute, when he begs.
Squall blushed, “she said you look very cute when you beg.”
“Oh,” Irvine grinned, getting down on his knees, and clasping his hands together, “Please, I beg of you, Shiva. Let him tell little ol me.”
Shiva giggled, that’s very cute! Okay tell him. But you better not go hit him. Because then, you really will have to live with Laguna.
Anything but that, “hit Cid.”
“Oh, I’m there with you. Let’s go now!” Irvine made a thinking face, “we can borrow Quistis’s whip.”
“Shiva said I can’t. She had to remind me, if I got fired I’d have to go live with Laguna.”
And Shiva knows what she’s talking about.
“Phoenix agrees with her.”
Irvine laughed, “both of your GFs are against you.”
We’re against you too.
“Oh great, look what Shiva started, now Siren and Tonberry are against me.”
“They sort of have a point. We can’t go hitting our boss.”
Rinoa stormed to the library, “why won’t he talk with me? I thought he’d be all happy that I wanted to get back together with him.”
The library girl looked up, annoyed at having been interrupted.
“Can you believe it,” Rinoa yelled at the library girl, whose name was Sayuri
Sayuri gave Rinoa an ‘what the heck are you talking about’ look, “what?”
“Oh. Sorry. You know who Squall is right, and who I am?”
Unfortunately. “Yes.”
“Squall and I broke up. I told him I’d be willing to start over, but he sort of brushed me off. Can you believe it!”
Sayuri snorted. Could this girl be any more dim. “Go figure. Maybe he’s into someone else.” Like the GUY he’s dating!
“Ha, yeah right. Like who? The only girls he hangs out with are dating each other.”
Sayuri shrugged her shoulders, “a guy then,” she suggested.
“Hahahahahahaha,” Rinoa bent over laughing, “yeah right. Never in a million years would he pick a guy over me! And I know my Squally is not GAY!”
Whatever you say. And here I thought blonds were supposed to be the ditzy ones.
“I’d love to help you figure this out,” Sayuri said, her voice dripped in sarcasm, “but I’ve got a elsewhere to be.” Sayuri grabbed her book and ran like her life depended on it.
“Geez, she sure was in a hurry.” Rinoa walked out of the library and headed for her room, to get her weapon, she had a class to teach.
“So did you have to do anything gross with her,” Irvine asked, not really wanting to hear the answer.
Squall smiled, “I didn’t have to kiss her . . . although she did ask me to kiss her, so we’d look more convincing as a couple.”
Irvine grunted, “you think I’d get fired if I pushed her down the stairs?”
“You can say you tripped,” Squall laughed.
“Hmm, nah, can’t risk it. So what did you have to do?”
Squall rolled his eyes, “hold her hand.”
“And?”
“She kept on snuggling up against me, and putting her arm around me.”
“I probably won’t get fired, if I only slap her.”
“You can say you tripped.”
“Somehow I don’t think that excuse would work,” Irvine laughed.
“Probably not. You could say she had a bug on her face.”
“That may work . . . ”
“You’re actually considering it,” Squall raised his eyebrow.
“No. Shesh, you know I wouldn’t hit a girl. But Selphie would for me.”
“I would,” Selphie grinned, her and Quistis walking up to them, “what would I do?”
“Slap Rinoa for me,” Irvine told her.
“Oh,” Selphie grinned, “someone jealous?”
“Hey . . . think of how you’d feel if Quistis had took Squall’s role.”
Selphie pouted, “okay I understand.” Selphie looked at Quistis, and went to run away.
“Where are you going?” Quistis gave Selphie a questioning look.
“To slap Rinoa!”
“Tell her you saw a bug,” Irvine yelled.
Selphie giggled, looking around for Rinoa. She probably wouldn’t really slap her, but it would be funny.
“Hey, Selphie,” Rinoa called, walking up to the girl.
Selphie looked at Rinoa, “yeah?”
“I need your help,” Rinoa whined.
“With what?”
“Getting Squall to come back to me.”
“What?” Seems my little hint about Squall and Irvine being the leads didn’t hit home yet.
“I want you to help me seduce Squall,” Rinoa said, with a sickly sweet smile on her face.
Oh gross. Selphie gave Rinoa a angry look. She wasn’t going to break Squall and Irvine up. Not after all Selphie did to get them together. Without thinking, Selphie reached her hand back and slapped Rinoa hard across the cheek.
Rinoa yelped, grabbing her stinging cheek. With wide eyes, she looked at Selphie, “what was that for,” she asked, her bottom lip trembling?
Selphie grinned, “saw a bug.”
Rinoa blinked her tears away, “oh.”
Selphie saw the redness on Rinoa’s cheek. Oops, I forgot I had my ring on backwards. Ouch that has to hurt.
“Killed it,” Selphie said.
“Huh?”
“I killed the bug.” Selphie looked around, “what? Okay Quistis, I’m coming.”
Selphie gave Rinoa one last look and ran off toward the dorm rooms.
“Huh? I didn’t hear anyone,” Rinoa muttered, rubbing her stinging cheek, which had the indent from Selphie’s ring on it.
