Chapter 2

Zell’s eyes suddenly went wide, when he realized what was going on. He was kissing Seifer! Seifer was kissing him!

He quickly shoved Seifer away, his eyes blinking rapidly. “W-what are you doing?” Zell asked, his voice shaky. ‘I did not just. . . we did not just. . .’

Seifer ran a hand through his blond hair, picking himself up from the ground. Sometimes Zell could be rather strong.

“I don’t know. . .” the older blond admitted. “What were you doing?” he asked. It hadn’t been his imagination. Zell had kissed him back. ‘But I’m the one who kissed him! What was I thinking?’

Zell shook his head, “I-I don’t know. I don’t know!” Zell shouted, quickly slapping a hand over his mouth. He glanced at the sleeping baby and sighed. He was still asleep.

Seifer followed his gaze. “We should talk in the other room.”

Zell numbly nodded, “yeah.”

---

Pacing back and forth, Zell looked at Seifer, his face red. “Why? Why did you do that?” he asked, his mind in a uproar. He felt beyond confused. Not only did Seifer kiss him, but he kissed back and to top it off, he enjoyed it. So much.

He’d kissed a girl or two, but he’d never had a kiss like that. A kiss that effected his whole body. Yes. . . Zell had felt himself start to react to the kiss.

This was why he was so. . . so confused.

‘Am. . . am I gay?’ Zell shook his head.

Seifer glanced down, a frown coming to his lips. It would come out sooner or later. . . so. . .

“I’m sorry, Zell. . . I didn’t mean to do that. . . I. . . it just happened. Well, I am, you know. . . gay. . . and you looked so. . . so. . .” Seifer trailed off.

“What?” Zell whispered.

“I couldn’t help it. You looked so cute and you had that cute flush on your face. . . and it just happened.”

Zell blinked. “Me, I’m cute. . . you think I’m cute?”

Of all people Seifer thought he was cute! Zell didn’t understand why hearing that made him so happy. . .

‘Wait. . . if that makes me happy. . . oh God, could I. . . do I. . .’ Zell looked down, biting his lower lip. ’Do I like Seifer?’

Zell looked down, biting his lower lip.

Seifer snorted, “as if someone, gay or not, could look at you and not see how cute you are.”

Zell’s eyes went wide, his flush brightening.

Seifer looked away from the teen. ‘Best not to look at him when he’s so flushed, yeah. . .’

“Look, sorry. We’ll just pretend that never happened, okay?” Seifer walked to the kitchen, starting to gather things needed to make a pitcher of tea. He could use a nice, cool drink right about now.

Zell blinked, looking down. Hearing Seifer say that really made his heart hurt. ‘Why. . .?’

Sighing, Zell ran a shaky hand through his hair. ‘Seifer basically told me he likes me. . . that kiss spoke volumes. . . but now he’s telling me to forget it. . .’

Zell clinched his fists, ‘how am I just supposed to forget. . .? I-I can’t get. . .’

Trying not to look at Seifer, Zell walked through the kitchen, into the room where Denzel was sleeping; Seifer’s room.

“Denzy,” Zell whispered, “I can’t get that kiss out of my mind.” Sighing, Zell set on the bed. Bending down, Zell plucked up one of Denzel’s stuffed animals; a small tiger. Acting as if he was ten years younger, Zell hugged the tiger to his chest.

---

Seifer poked his head into the room he was sharing with Denzel, a smile breaking out on his face when he saw Zell on his bed, curled up with the baby, and in-between their two bodies was one of Denzel’s stuffed animals. It had to be one of the cutest things Seifer had seen in a long time.

Sighing, Seifer walked over to the bed, sitting down near the blond. He reached out, putting a hand lightly on Zell’s cheek, giving it a caress.

“Zell, I truly am sorry. I know I can be an ass, but despite popular belief, I do have a heart and I do care about people. . . mainly it’s people like Denzy that sees that side of me.” Seifer looked over at his brother, as the baby let out a cute whimper, cuddling closer to Zell and the stuffed tiger.

“But. . . you know. . .” Seifer pulled his hand away from Zell, placing it in his lap. “I wouldn’t mind sharing that side of myself with you. . .” Seifer gave a bitter chuckle. “Yeah right, eh? You’re not into guys like I am. . .”

‘Oh God, I’m sounding like I’m boohooing over lost love or something. I. Do. Not. Love. Him. I don’t. . .’ Seifer shook his head. ‘I just think he’s cute. . .’

Seifer shook his head.

Seifer glanced at Zell again, leaning down, “forgive me.” he whispered, lightly kissing the blond on the forehead.

Sighing, Seifer stood up, going over to a chair in the room. He wasn’t about to climb into the bed with Zell and Denzel and he really didn’t want to leave the room.

After a bit he fell asleep, lightly snoring.

A few moments after Seifer had finally closed his eyes, Zell’s eyes popped open.

“Seifer. . .” Zell whispered, a hand going to where he’d been kissed.

---

“Oink!” Denzel yelled, making Zell giggle and Seifer chuckle.

“Very good, Denzy.” Seifer patted the three year old on the head.

“Now a horse?” Zell asked, bouncing the toddler on his knee. Zell eyed Seifer, his face turning red. He quickly looked back to Denzel. Since the other day, the two were trying to act as they normally did; both acting as if they had forgotten what had happened, though neither did, nor wanted to.

Denzel made an ‘I’m thinking’ face, screwing up his nose, cutely. “Oh. . . Neeee!” He yelled.

“Bee?” Zell asked.

“Buzzzzz.” Denzel giggled.

“Okay, here’s a hard one. What does a happy rabbit say?” Seifer asked.

Zell looked at Seifer, “they don’t. . .”

“Ippity hop, ippity hop.” Denzel said, crawling off Zell’s lap. He started to jump, much like a rabbit would, shouting ‘Ippity hop’ each time he leapt.

Seifer laughed at the look on Zell’s face.

“Okay, Denzy, how about Seifa? What does Seifa say?” Zell asked.

“Khhhaaa choooo…” Denzel said, laying down on the floor, making snoring sounds.

“Hey!” Seifer went to Denzel, picking him up. He started to tickle him, making the kid laugh and squirm in his arms. “I don’t snore.”

“Yes do!” Denzel yelled, tears from laughing in his eyes. “No tikkly!”

“Do I snore?” Seifer asked.

“Yep!”

Seifer tickled Denzel a little harder, but making sure not to be too rough with him.

“What was that?”

“No Sna. No Sna!”

“That’s what I thought.” Seifer threw Denzel up in the air, easily catching him in his arms.

“Ally oop!” Seifer cuddled Denzel in his arms, “it’s time for you to go to daycare.” Seifer frowned, knowing Denzel would not like that. But he and Zell had to go to class, and it probably wouldn’t do to take Denzel.

The daycare was attached to their school; in the furthest room on the left side of the building. It was for the teachers who were single with small children. The principle of their school allowed Seifer to keep Denzel, as he was a family man and loved kids.

Zell saw Seifer’s frown, frowning as well. Ever since the two had started to become closer, what with being roomed together and all, Zell couldn’t help but hate it when Seifer was upset.

“It’ll be fine. I’m sure Denzy will like the daycare lady.” Zell walked over to the two siblings. “We’ll come get you as soon as class is over, kay?”

Not really understanding, Denzel nodded, repeating ‘Kay’

---

“Wahh! No go! No go!” Denzel clutched Zell and Seifer’s legs, crying pitifully.

Seifer fell to his knees, pulling Denzel into a hug, “I’m sorry, Denzy. We’ll be back in a few hours.”

“Leave him to me.” A cheerful girl said, smiling. She walked over to the two boys, leaning down to pick up Denzel. Denzel screamed, kicking his legs.

The girl wasn’t fazed though. “Hey, little rug rat, if you don’t stop that we can’t play.” Said the girl, who looked no more older then eighteen. She had blond hair, that seemed to go to her waist, but the locks were pulled up onto her head in many blond braids.

“Oh, yeah, I’m Rikku Highwind!”

Denzel had stopped crying, at the sound of ‘play.’ Now he was just whimpering in Rikku’s arms, giving Seifer and Zell sad looks.

“Seifer. . .” Seifer said, sadly turning away from his brother. ‘Sorry, but that’s life, kid.’

“I’m Zell,” Zell said, hurriedly, running to catch up with Seifer.

---

“Seifer, are you paying attention?” Mrs. Alexandria asked. The dark haired teacher put her hands on her thin hips.

The girl got no answer; Seifer was just staring off into space.

Zell nudged Seifer’s side, pointing to the front of the classroom.

Seifer jumped, “oh, sorry, Teach.” He said.

Mrs. Alexandria sighed. “My name is not Teach. Either call me Mrs. Garnet or Mrs. Alexandria.” Garnet said, knowing her last name was hard for some of the students to remember.

“Right. Sorry.” Seifer muttered, barely paying attention.

Luckily the bell chose that time to ring.

---

“Seifa back!” Denzel yelled, hardly believing his eyes. When the two boys had left him, it had felt like to the baby that they were leaving him for good. Course, he had fun with Rikku, but would rather be with his brother and his friend any day.

“Of course I am.” Seifer said, grunting when the little tyke rammed into his legs.

Denzel pouted. “Denzy miss Seifa. Kissa Denzy?”

“As if I wouldn’t want to,” Seifer picked up the baby, twirling him around. He smiled at him, planting a kiss on his forehead.

“You kissa Ell, oo?”

Seifer blushed, ruffling the brunet’s hair. “No, Ell doesn’t want me to.”

“To. Do to.” Denzel nodded. “Ell lika kissa.”

Seifer chuckled. What did a three year old baby know about this? He couldn’t help but wish Denzel’s words were true though.
