Chapter 2

A/N There was a typo in the last chapter; Squall, Zell and Irvine are not seventeen. They're the same age as Selphie; fifteen.

In the boarding school they live four to a dorm; there's two rooms in each dorm.

---

"Here you go." Selphie smiled brightly, handing Squall his letter. "Sorry, it's late, but I got distracted by something and wasn't able to deliver it on time."

Inwardly, Selphie smirked. 'Yeah got distracted by telling Quisty and Ellone about it.'

"Thanks," Squall mumbled, taking the letter and turning to go back into his room.

"You're welcome." Selphie said, sticking her tongue at Squall's door as it was shut in her face.

"Well, I sure hope you're gay, otherwise you'll never have a girlfriend."

"Slam a door in my face," Selphie grumbled as she walked away. "Shesh. No manners."

---

I see you everyday and each day you grow more enticing. Someday I hope to hold you in my arms and hear you sigh my name.

But this is a pipe dream. For now, I'll just like you in my own dreams.

This might not be something a guy wants to hear, but Squall you've got to be the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.

Squall blinked, looking down at the letter Selphie had just delivered.

"Me?" he muttered out loud. 'Who in their right mind would have a crush on me?'

His cheeks flushing, Squall went to put the letter away. 'Most beautiful...enticing...'

---

"What?!" Zell yelled, his face red; was it anger or something else.

"Calm down, Zell." Irvine said, patting the teen on the back. "It won't be that bad. We knew this was bound to happen sooner or later."

"Ohhh, no, no, we knew we were going to be getting a new roommate, since what's his name graduated, but I never imagined +he'd+ have to move in."

"Is it that bad?" Irvine asked.

"Yes! You don't know him like Squall and I do." Zell pouted. "He's such an ass."

"Really?" Irvine sighed, "he doesn't seem that way to me."

"Well, okay, fine, so it's not as bad as it was when we were younger, but he still is a jerk."

"Some jerk, look at him."

Zell jumped. Oh no, he'd been taking about Seifer and the teen was nearby. He looked toward where Irvine was pointing and frowned. Seifer actually looked... sad about something. He didn't have that usual smug smirk on his face... and his eyes...

'Oh no, I'm just seeing things; his eyes are not red. Seifer would not be crying.' Zell nodded his head, as if he were agreeing with himself.

"Well that's weird; why would he look sad?"

---

Zell, Squall and Irvine were feeling very confused. They'd thought they'd be nice and help Seifer move in their dorm and not one time did the blond speak. Not once. Usually he'd have already said a few wisecracks; insulted everyone and smirked as he looked at them.

But no, he silently carried his stuff into the dorm, not a smirk in sight.

For some reason this made Zell upset. Now the teen was just confused. This was the person who always picked on him; why would seeing him like this make him upset?

"Umm, well, Seifer, you and Zell will be sharing a room." Irvine pointed to the left side of the dorm. "Squall and I are in the other room." He pointed to the right.

Seifer nodded, beginning to take some of his stuff toward the room Irvine had pointed out.

When Seifer was out of sight, Zell looked at Squall, "what's gotten into him?"

Squall shrugged, "who knows, but this is odd."

"Really odd," Zell agreed.

---

"Pss..pss.."

Zell glanced up, seeing Selphie motioning to him. She then held a finger to her lips. "Shh."

"What, Selphie?" Zell whispered, walking over to the girl.

Grabbing Zell's hand, the girl led him to a more private place.

"I have a secret; I found out why Seifer had to move in with you guys." Selphie said, looking a little upset about something.

"Now, Seifer isn't my favorite person in the world, but it's really sad how he was treated." Selphie looked down.

Zell blinked. "Well? Why did he have to move? Come on, tell me." Zell wouldn't admit it, but he really was dying to know why Seifer seemed so different; so sad.

"Well, I don't know why, but his roommates ganged up on him and got him kicked out of their room."

"Ganged up on him?"

"Yeah, they cornered him and... well, it's hard to believe, but they started to rough him up; Cid caught them and for Seifer's own safety made him move to your room."

Now Zell felt even more bad; this was why Seifer was being so quiet. But it still didn't make sense; why would his roommates beat him up? What had Seifer done to them?

"What happened to the roommates?" Zell quietly asked.

Selphie sighed, "well, not much. Got suspended a few days and that's it."

"How'd you find this out?" Zell wondered out loud.

"Well, I work in the office, ya know, and I over heard the teachers talking." Selphie said.

"Oh, I see." Zell frowned, "I really wonder why his roommates ganged up on him; Selphie this may sound weird coming from me, but I really want the old Seifer back."

Selphie smiled a knowing smile, "yeah, maybe you can bring him out his his funk. Who knows, maybe you four can even become friends since you now share a room." Selphie looked at Zell, "you're such a nice guy; it's hard to resist your charm."

Zell blushed, "what are you saying?"

"Oh, nothing; I just think that living with you might actually help Seifer not be so Seiferish and you could probably make him cheer up."

"Oh... I guess it couldn't hurt to try." Zell jumped when he heard a bell ringing. "Well, see ya, Selphie." he said, waving as he headed for class.

"Bye bye, Zell!" Selphie called after him.
