Chapter 2

A/N I updated this so fast, because I was fearing for my life. Naru said that if I didn’t update soon she’d hurt me with her keyblade. So here you go Naru, please don’t hurt me.

Saki took the thermometer out of her son’s mouth, raising it to the light, so she could read it. She paled when she saw what it said. "Good Lord," she gasped.

Riku froze, "what? What’s his temperature?" Riku looked down at Sora, who was giving small gasps of pain, every few minutes. The boy’s chest was heaving in and out as he struggled to get his breath. And just by looking at him, Riku knew his skin would be super hot to the touch.

"One hundred and four." Saki felt her eyes wailing up with tears. Sora was really sick. What would she do, if anything ever happened to her little boy?

"What, but . . . that’s really high," Riku took the thermometer from Saki and read it for himself. She was right; it did indeed, read one hundred and four.

"Yes it is." Saki went to the Sora’s desk and picked up the phone, "I’m dialing, Doctor Boyd."

Were sorry, but Doctor Boyd is out at the moment, helping others. To schedule an appointment, hit one

"Out," Saki’s face crumbled. The doctor was out of the office. Now what? "I guess that we’ll have to take him to the ER."

Riku nodded, he went to Sora, and picked the small boy up. Saki ran out of Sora’s room, getting her keys off her key hook. Once they were ready the two ran as fast as the could to Saki’s little car.

"Kairi," Kairi’s adopted mother yelled, as the redhead, fell to the ground, cringing in pain.
Two little boys were playing on the school’s playground, when all of a sudden both boys stopped what they were doing, yelling in pain. Nearby islanders ran to the boy’s aid.
"I’m Tika Tomali with Destiny Islands’ latest news" Wakka’s mother and father watched as this women started to walk toward the entrance of a white building. The small hospital. The camera man, turned the camera, showing numerous families carrying sick children.

"It’s an epidemic," Tika exclaimed. "An unexplainable illness has swept the island."

"Hey," Hiro pointed to the tv, "isn’t that brown-haired kid, one of Wakka’s friends?"

Wakka’s mother, Mai, looked at the tv, and sure enough there was one of Wakka’s friends, being carried by another one of Wakka’s friends. "Yes, that’s Sora and the boy carrying him is Riku. Oh, look at his poor mother."

Saki was beside herself with worry. You could see the horror in her blue eyes. How come everyone was so sick?

"This way, Riku," Saki yelled, zigzagging around all the people gathered outside the hospital.

Finally they made it inside, going over to the check in desk. A tired looking women looked up, sighing. "Another one," she muttered.

"Excuse me," Saki said, putting her hands on her hips. "I didn’t catch that."

"Sorry; how may I help you?"

"As if you can’t tell!" Saki yelled. "My son needs help. Stat!"

"Yes, of course. You’ll have to wait your turn, I’m afraid." The women pointed to the waiting room where a dozen or so people looked to be in the exact same state as Sora. "We’re all full up, every doctor and nurse is with someone."

Saki looked at her son, who was still asleep. Tears came to her eyes. "I..I understand," she gulped. Riku and Saki walked into the waiting room, sitting down.

"Riku," Saki whispered, "you can lay Sora down on the couch. You don’t have to hold him."

Riku shook his head, "I don’t want to lay him down . . . I’ll carry him okay." Riku looked at Saki with a distressed look on his face.

Saki wiped the tears off her face, smiling at Riku, "of course. It’s okay."

Axel fumed. He was on a small stinking island. He could barely make out the other islands that surrounded the island he was on.

"It has to be the only deserted island in the whole area."

Axel walked around, looking for a way off the island. "Now how to get to the island where Sora lives."

After walking for some time, Axel came to a little area that looked like people visited. There was a small hut, and a big tree house. "Obviously the island teen’s hangout."

"Well, I guess I’ll have to wait, till someone comes here . . . "

"Talking to yourself, is not a good sign," a hyper voice spoke, startling Axel.

Axel spun around coming face to face with a blonde-haired teen. A really cute teen at that; but no Roxas.

"Sorry, did I scare you?" the boy asked.

Axel scoffed, "as if I could be scared."

"So you’re not scared, then who are you?" the boy joked.

A smile quirked on Axel’s lips. "I’m Axel."

The blonde froze, "the Axel?"

"Haha, I didn’t know I was famous. What do you mean, ‘the Axel?’"

The blonde walked over to Axel, "I’m Tidus, my friends, Sora, Riku and Kairi told me everything about some adventures the went on. They met a Axel on one of them. But . . . he died, Sora said."

Axel grinned. At last, he was getting somewhere. This teen knew Sora. "Don’t be alarmed; I am that Axel."

"But how?" Tidus exclaimed.

Axel quickly went over his whole story, leaving out his love for Roxas, of course. "So do you believe me?"

"I...uh..wow. How can I not? That’s some story." I’ll leave it to Riku and Sora to really confirm his story.

"Glad you believe me. So can I get a ride . . . er row to where Sora lives?"

Tidus smiled, "sure."

"Sarah, what . . . " Saki’s eyes went wide, seeing Sarah walk into the waiting room, helping her daughter, Kairi walk. "She’s sick too?"

"Too?" Sarah questioned.

Saki pointed to Sora.

"Goodness," Sarah for the first time, noticed all the other people in the room, "what’s going on?"

Saki sniffed, "I have no idea. I’m so frightened; if anything happened to Sora, I don’t know what I’d do."

"Neither I, if something were to happen to Kairi." Sarah helped Kairi sit down, and set down next to her, a arm around her shoulders, to keep her from falling over.

Riku paled, seeing his other best friend. Why were they sick? It wasn’t fair. After everything they had been through, you’d think stuff like this wouldn’t happen to them.

"Mika Tii." A nurse carrying a clipboard called out. A young mother, probably in her early twenties stood up, carrying a four year old girl in her arms.

The nurse frowned, leading them to get checked out.

Saki sighed, "such a young child."

"Yes," Sarah agreed, "it is a shame."

One by one, people were called and lead out of the waiting room. "We should be next," Saki informed Riku.

"Sora Hanajima."

"Good call," Riku said, standing up.

Saki turned to Sarah, giving the women a pat on the shoulder, "good luck with everything."

"You too."

Leia crossed her arms, tears trailing down her face. She really didn’t foresee this. Every nobody who had been sent back to live in the hearts of their other halves were trying to break free. So many people were in great pain. She even sensed that some wouldn’t make it.

"What have I done?"
