What's happening in the world of Skintwire?

27/3/00 -
YeeHaa....at bloody last, we've recorded our demo. It took us fifteen hours yesterday, but it's done. The vocals and the final mixing will be done next Monday (3/4/00), so watch this space for more info.
One other thing to mention is our gig this Thursday in Drouthies with punk veterans Red Letter Day. Eveyone is welcome to come along and check things out. Entry is £2 and the doors open around 20:30. Hope to see you all there.

Oh yeah...some where in between this update and the last one, we played a totally fuck up set with Diesel Boy in the Waterfront Bar. Keep an eye out for a review which is coming soon!

A couple of things to mention today. Firstly, a quick reminder to you all that we are playing a gig supporting Merocaine tomorrow night in the West Port Bar. Entry is £1.50 and the fun begins at 21:00, so come along and support your local bands.
Secondly and more importantly we have been asked to play on Saturday night supporting Diesel Boy (A californian Punk Band Signed to Honest Don's). The gig will be taking place in the Unicorn Bar (aka The Waterfront), and it is free to get in. Support will also come from Dud-Load. Click here for more info on Diesel Boy.

Our gig with Beauty School Dropout has now been confirmed. It is on April 20th in Droothie Neebors. The fun starts at 9:00pm and entry is free. Support also comes in the shape of Tempting Kate.

We've just recieved news that Skintwire will be supporting the Beauty School Dropout in Droothies at the end of April. The date will either be the 20th or the 27th. Both of which are a Thursday night.

Okay dokay....updates have been few and far between recently, due to the fact that we changed the web address and none of us could update unless it was a pauls house, which was rather inconvenient.

So, what has been happening then? I hear you ask. Well let me tell you..the gig on the 9th was a resounding success. Boomhauer played a blinding set, with songs from their current demo. The next day saw us play a rather controversial but quality gig in Fat Sams. The set did have its hiccups at the start but once the momentum was gathered then everything went fine.

The latest gig was in the West Port Bar, on the 17th. Support came from gig virgins Special Guests and gig veterans Meroca!ne. This gig turned out to be the best so far. A new set list, tighter performance and a packed Westy all contributed to a superb night.

Last nights gig went down a storm with the mixture of friends and fans in the crowd. All three bands had a great time and received well-deserved applause as the night ended.  Skintwire were applauded into an adrenalin-fuelled encore cover of Basket Case by Green Day which sealed the night perfectly.

Skintwire performed so well on the night, they were asked to play again on the 9th of February!!! Great Stuff!!!

19/01/00
Tonight sees the first of many gigs for Skintwire in the year 2000. It will be at Dundee's Droothie Neebors and they will be supported by two bands, Brick and Hennisi.
This shows a great start to the millenium for the band and the beginning of a regular gig scene in Dundee.

13/01/00
Skintwire has just added the finishing touches to THREE new songs. They are:

  • Dreamless
  • Low Status Girl
  • D.O.L.

03/01/00
Today sees the launch of the all-new Skintwire website, written and created by Paul Petrie, Alan Reid and Graeme Skelly.

01/01/00
Skintwire are proud to announce the arrival of permanent bassist, Paul Petrie. Paul was only temporary bassist for Skintwire due to his being in another band. However Paul was as unwilling to leave and the rest of Skintwire wanted him to stay.

***HAPPY NEW MILLENIUM***

13/12/99
We have a new song called I KNOW YOU. It is a punk pop tune that has a happy air about it

It makes you wanna grab the world and jump around like a lunatic

This track will definitely be appearing on the forthcoming demo by SKINTWIRE.

The Firkin Gig went ahead and what a huge success it was. Merocaine were outstanding and I would like to say thanx to them for playing with us. I would also like to say thanx to all our friends that TURNED UP, your support was greatly appreciated.

Skintwire are here to stay.

Ok, so the Blair Witch isn't as scary as everybody makes out, but the ending is still pretty freaky.

29/10/99
Ok..so our gig was a resounding success. Everything went according to plan. A big thanks to everyone who turned up to support us...THANKS. Not to mention the drunk girl that fell over the monitor!! Not much else to report.

The Blair Witch Project opens tonight and Graeme is going to see it, that is if he doesn't shit himself before hand.

15/10/99
The only news we have is that of our Gig in a local pub, Droothy Neebors, Perth Road. We are playing with fellow band Merocaine (see links page for homepage). Feel Free to drop by.
