It was the spring of 1998 when the first sign of THE FIDJITS emerged.
There was Cara Scandal with her neo non-squeaky "Poly Styrene" esq. voice
and Go-Go Fidjit going on with his "Pete Townshend" like stage antics
had just left the band “Xaphen’s Revenge” and decided to venture out and start a new band.
A band with more pizzazz, character, and basically just sheer energetic lunacy, to satisfy our master plan.
They started out playing a couple nights a week at “Mojos” a coffee shop in Orland Park a south suburb of Chicago.
Go-Go would play the acoustic guitar, Scandal would sing tunes by the Vindictives, Ramones, and The Pogues,
and they had written some tunes on cuff just hours before every show
that sounded a bit to the tune off an upbeat Dead Milkmen with a late 50’s twist
and a whole lot of fuck this and that thrown in there too.
The folks at the coffee shop were digging it so much they asked Scandal and Go-Go
who then were calling themselves “The Twister Pins” to run the open mic night.
A couple of months go by jamming twice a week at the coffee shop
as well as searching for the right people to complete the band and failing miserably.
Then in the autumn of 98 as Scandal and Go-Go attended the premiere of John Water’s motion picture “Pecker”
Go-Go heard the word fidget and “By Jove he’s got it!”
THE FIDJITS!
The next day they stumble on to DeadEnd Dave,
(who is instrumentally to music as Shakespeare is to literature)
a talented young man who lived two blocks away the whole time.
He happened to be a six string wonder boy with everything they were looking for.
October the 2nd 1998 the magic started and then the endless count of drummers.
The FIDJITS had a good run in 1999 with Slappy behind the tubs until he bailed
due to being an extreme cunt
and the FIDJITS had to cancel many shows and audition many others to play the drums.
No they did not find a single drummer to take his place.
Then Scandal moved south Go-Go moved north and DeadEnd was stuck in the middle until 2001.
The FIDJITS were back, but the line up changed Marty Martian took up the second guitar
as well as the role of the fashionable FIDJIT,
and Bob took up the drums.
That too was short lived with Go-Go’s drunkenness, Scandal’s untimely ness,
and Dead End’s madness they dissipated again.
Then in August 2002, they were back to have another go at it with new drummer Kory Character
and ready for action! They played some shows and recorded the EP in June of 03.
Then the line up was altered yet again when Cory decided he was too German to play this Irish music any longer.
So yet, another drummer Jeff Wasted, the true captain anchoring it all down.
Took up the roll and is doing a grand job.
Now it's Scandal, DeadEnd, Go-Go, Martian, Wasted, at the helm.
Here come the FIDJITS and their collective crew of nonviolent piskey paddys
all riled up and ready to explode not unlike
a heterosexual version of a John Waters cast, classy trash & drunk of their ass!
CHEERS!
