If you don't receive the Officer Neagtive Weekly e-mail update...here are some words of wisdome Chad Wiggins (lead singer of O.N.) put on the newsletter:
LAUGHTER
What I remember about church and God, as a child,
are large cavernous hangar type cathedrals; cold, dark
and pretty impersonal.
God, I was told , lived in a box,
and I simply assumed He didn't want to be bothered. I
met many of God's professionals who honestly looked
like they had been sucking green persimmons as a hobby,
for their faces showed no joy, happiness, humor or smiles.
Now, stopping short of indicting all of the church world,
I think Christianity often gets billed as a very somber,
dreary, and even boring lifestyle that tends to look at wit
and humor and fun as just short of blasphemous and
sacrilegious. Jesus had a word to give to people like that:
LIGHTEN UP! (Actually, that's my paraphrase of
Matthew 6:16 when Jesus says, "Do not look somber".)
The Bible talks a lot about laughter and overt happiness.
For example:
Ecclesiastes 3:4- There is "a time...to laugh".
Proverbs 15:13- "A happy heart makes the face cheerful."
Proverbs 15:15- "The cheerful heart has a continual
feast."
Proverbs 17:22- "A glad heart helps and heals." (Moffat)
For fun and encouragement, tale a look at some
things you can laugh out loud about!
Your enemy, the devil, has been defeated once and
for all! (Ephesians 4:8)
Jesus Christ is Risen. (Matthew 28:7)
Christ accepts you as you are. (Ephesians 1:6)
Our names are written in the Book of Life. (Luke 10:18)

loses some of it's best people because we do not emphasize
the joy of the faith." -Tony Campolo

YOU SHOULD NEVER...
I think you'll laugh at a few of these
pearls of wisdom from "599 Things You
Should Never Do" by Ed Morrow.
Never argue with an idiot - folks might
not be able to tell the difference.
- Anonymous
Never slap a man who chews tobacco.
- Willard Scott
Never try to outsmart a woman, unless
you are another woman.
- J. W. Eagan
Never test the depth of a river with both
feet.
- African Adage
Never play leapfrog with a unicorn.
- American Proverb
Never think you've seen the last of
anything.
- Eudora Welty
Never believe anything until it's been
officially denied.
- Anthony Jay
While the wisdom of those may be temporal,
the book of Proverbs gives a list of "you
should nevers" that contain powerful eternal
discretion and insight. Meditate on these and
apply the common sense principles of God's
Word. (All verses are from the Living Bible.)
* Proverbs 3:1 "My son, never forget the
things I've taught you. If you want a long
and satisfying life, closely follow my
instructions."
* Proverbs 3:3 "Never tire of loyalty and
kindness. Hold these virtues tightly. Write
them deep within your heart."
* Proverbs 12:3 "Wickedness never brings
real success; only the godly have that."
* Proverbs 27:10 "Never abandon a
friend-either yours or your father's.
Then you won't need to go to a distant
relative for help in your time of need."
* Proverbs 30:8 "First, help me never to
tell a lie. Second, give me neither poverty
nor riches! Give me just enough to satisfy
my needs!"
* Proverbs 30:10 "Never falsely accuse a man
to his employer, lest he curse you for
your sin."
Thought for the week:
"If you are successful, don't crow.
If you fail, don't croak."
-Samuel Chadwick
