All right, this is the new bio of Killinger Ave., which talks of our sordid history of a band and includes all the fun things that have happened to us since our last bio (with the possible exception of Craig’s alien abduction). Just like before the band started with Shyam Kulkarni and Ronn Fontana sitting around and decided that since they didn’t have anything better to do that day they might as well start a band. Despite the fact they had no other musicians and had never practiced together, they figured it would be a good idea to play at East End Café. So they went there and were received with such a bad response they almost decided to break up. The project, called MCO or Mongrel Citizen’s Orchestra, soon added Terry McLain, formerly of the Gentlemen to play bass and Craig Wilhelmy to play drums, despite the fact he didn’t own a drumstick, let alone a set. Soon we were practicing with newly acquired drumsticks, much to the chagrin of all who lived near us. After weeks of getting yelled at by neighbors and practicing and breaking up, we played at Amanda Cook’s basement blowout with No Vacancy and To Prison from Althea. The Dead Sex Tunes also played with us but then they proceeded to all quit the band, probably because Dorph smelled funny.
After the show Killinger Ave officially formed, with Rich Pulliam (also of the Gentlemen) as our guitarist. Also I found out from his brothers girlfriend, Laura Henderson that Alan Price also played guitar, and I asked him to be in the band namely because I thought having a Jew would be cool. So thus we continued to practice in 213 Thompson until the end of the last academic year when Rich left us to go do “stuff” and I proceeded to go to India for the summer. What ensued was a summer of not practicing and Terry dyeing his hair. Upon coming back to the States I was notified by Ronn Fontana that we were no longer a band. Undaunted by this information I considered asking Dorph to play guitar for us but Alan had recruited Steve Jumps (formerly of the Defects). Now Steve and I had been in Political Threat together in which I played Drums. Even though I never actually practiced with the guys they found me a more productive drummer than Alex was on Guitar. Steve quit the Defects after our first practice because he had fallen in love with Craig, and besides the fact he didn’t really play or own an amp, we figured we’d let him in (we figured he’d fit in well).
After this we went through a period of not practicing because Alan was too cool to do anything other than marching band. After marching band ended their season ranked outside of the top five, Alan almost committed suicide but we talked him out of it, and decided not to kick him out because he could actually play guitar. We got back into the habit of practicing and that’s where we are today.
