The long-awaited *Moulin Rouge* is here, along with its perhaps-more-long-awaited-and-frighteningly-heavily-hyped soundtrack. And hey, you guessed it, the soundtrack is in fact better than the film..which, up till now, only musicals and, um, *What Women Want* has got away with. Of course, it could be argued that *Moulin Rouge* is in fact a musical, but, well, it's not. It's just a load of rehashed pop songs sang, albeit badly, by the cast of the movie, and a few other gung-ho musicians who had a couple of days off from being big pompous stars and so decided to do their bit for Help The Aged by giving Baz Lurhmann a hand with the soundtrack to his newest film, which they heard was going to be rather good, and feature Nicole getting her kit off. And here's the product.
How could they go wrong, with singalong songs from everyone who's everyone in the My Own Music Career Is Fading, So I Do Soundtracks And Charity Records Club. Bono, the club founder, right down to dance giant Fatboy Slim and yes, even Christina Aguilera feature, and all your fave hits from the last, oh, about a hundred years. Hooray!
