A question arose in one of my classes today that really caused me to ponder. What are your top five values. What can I really attribute as values to myself? At long last I thought of my first value, trust. I guess it hasn't really come to play a lot in my life, but it has come indirectly. Meaning that "friends" of mine have looked for trust through me. Many a time I have let them down.
As I thought even further, one big one came to my mind, freedom. To a lot of people, the United States represents freedom. I feel that that is full of shit. I think, what does the USA offer that any other country doesn't offer. I sure as hell know it isn't freedom. Every immigrant that has entered into this country predjudiced against and oppresed for they way they are. Is that freedom, fuck no. The only thing America provides is protection. We of course have the strongest army in the world. No one can touch us, right now that is. For that one reason, people flock to the United States thinking they are free to do whatever they want because they know that other armies can't touch them. Its not because they want to find a job, they can do that in their own damn country. They come here out of fear of death, of a stronger nation coming to attack them. Sadly they don't know thats why they are here, they still think its freedom.
Its a shame that the males in this country don't even get to think of that protection as their own. The draft is rediculous, forcing people to kill themselves because our stupid president says its for the good of the nation, bull shit. I can honestly say that I have no intention of fighting for this lame ass country. We are just a big bully. One day it will bite us in the ass. Hopefully by that time I will have truely found freedom somewhere else.
Freedom is something to value, something we must all strive for. Government regulations hold us back. Society holds us back. Bosses hold us back. I say fuck the man, be free.
