The Starting Line - With Hopes of Starting Over
This is an old EP, but it’s still in constant rotation. It is much more raw and crisp than their debut full length, which also kicks butt. This EP starts off with the "Leaving". A fun, sweet tune that shows the then 17 year old, Kenny Vasoli’s genius writing abilites and the band’s awesome melodies they can pull out. The next song begins immediately with a gut-wrenching bass/guitar duet and then Kenny’s poignant vocals shoot out about a girl who doesn’t realize she’s in a relationship with a wrong guy. The next song, "Three’s A Charm" is one of my all-time TSL favorites. Mainly because I relate to it the most. It’s the ultimate anthem, in my eyes, of a person who is not ready to get into another relationship because he or she was hurt so bad in the last one. It’s amazing. The next song, "Greg’s Last Day" talks of Kenny’s best friend that moved away. It has a beat you can bounce to and lyrics to repeat over and over again. They close the EP out with a Starship cover which is pre-puberty Kenny. "Nothing’s gonna stop us now" makes the Starship song good, enough said. -Chris
