Sunday Night Heat
--Michael Cole and Al Snow are
hyping up Invasion, as they should, and that on tonight’s Heat the Invasion
starts off early as they have two big matches where K-Kwick takes on ECW’s
Justin Incredible, while Albert defends his Intercontinental Championship
against WCW’s Hugh Morrus.
--the show highlights of the
return of Stone Cold Steve Austin.
K-Kwick vs. Justin Incredible
--K-Kwick starts off quickly with
some quick and fast moves, but in the end, Justin Incredible nails his
superkick and gets the pinfall, and Cole and Snow say that this is not a good
start for Team WWF tonight.
--the show a recap of Tough
Enough. When they come back, Cole asks Snow about how he feels about Tazz
jumping ship to ECW. Snow says he was in ECW, and he admits, it was a great
time in his life, but he likes it in the WWF. He knew Tazz had some resentment
about not being properly used, but he never would have imagined that this would
have happened. It quite frankly makes him sick.
Albert vs. Hugh Morrus
--Both use power moves on each
other, with Hugh Morrus taking the advantage in this match. He gets Albert down
and goes for the No Laughing Matter, but Albert moves out of the way. Hugh
struggles to his feet, and gets caught with the Baldo Bomb for the win, and he
makes things even going into Invasion, with one win a piece.
--Gregory Helms and Mark Jindrak
are in the hallway laughing about beating down on the Holly’s on Raw. Jindrak
says they would have taken down Austin, if they hadn’t been having so much fun
with the Holly’s. Suddenly, the Holly’s round the corner and get into their
faces. They say they got suckered at Raw, but if they are men enough, how about
having a match tonight at Invasion, to see who’s laughing after tonight.
Jindrak and Helms accept the match saying that the only difference between
tonight and Raw is that the beating the Holly’s received on Raw is going to
seem like a cakewalk.
--they show the official Invasion
preview, showing feuds with everyone, and recapping the matches that will be on
the pay per view tonight.
Invasion
--the typical music video intro for any pay per view plays, showing highlights dating all the way back from when Shane purchased the WCW, showing the WCW invasions, ECW reformation, WCW and ECW joining forces, to the return of Stone Cold Steve Austin.
--pyros explode on both the WWF
set and the WECW set and the show officially begins. Jim Ross says Michael Cole
was supposed to be joining him, but he’s not here, so he’s out here all alone.
Suddenly, music hits. Something fit for royalty, as Jerry “The King” Lawler
steps out on the top of the ramp. The crowd goes crazy as he makes his way down
to ringside, and sits down next to Ross. Ross can’t believe it. Lawler says that
it’s great to be back, and he wouldn’t have missed this for anything.
The Holly’s vs. Gregory Helms and
Mark Jindrak
--Helms and Jindrak come out
first, and then the Holly’s come out. Crash and Helms start things off first
with some fast paced action, until they tag in their more powerful partners who
turn this into a brawl. This match goes back and forth, and in the end, like
all tag matches, all hell breaks loose, and Hardcore Holly nails his finishing
move on Jindrak, and gets the pinfall.
WWF – 2 / WECW – 1
--Vince is in the back with Team
WWF, and is excited about the first win at Invasion. Stone Cold Steve Austin
isn’t there though. They are holding some kind of pep rally. Angle says Austin
isn’t there, and he’s supposed to be their leader. Vince says that now that
he’s the old Stone Cold Steve Austin, he’s doing his DTA thing and he asked for
his own lockerroom. Angle says that’s just great, and so much for their leader.
Tajiri vs. Tazz
--Tajiri comes out first with William
Regal. Then Tazz comes down with Raven. Tajiri starts off going fast and
furious with kicks and highflying assaults, until Tazz switches to turning it
into a brawl and suplex game, with Raven’s help. Tajiri gets control again, and
locks Tazz in the Tarantula, but Raven nails Tajiri, causing him to let go of
it. Regal has finally had enough, and goes after Raven, who gets the better of
Raven. The ref tries to break up Raven and Regal. Tajiri goes to try and help
Regal, but gets nailed by a chair, which Tazz brings into the ring. Tazz throws
the chair out of the ring, and covers Tajiri for the 1, 2, 3! Regal comes in
and goes after Tazz, but Raven comes from behind with a chair and cracks it
over Regal’s head. Tazz then lifts Regal up and locks on the Tazzmission,
choking him out. Tajiri is back on his feet, and nails Raven.Tajiri gets the
better of Raven. Then Tazz drops Regal, and beats on Tajiri. Suddenly, Al Snow
comes running down the ramp, and goes after Tazz and Raven. Tazz and Raven
leave the ring quickly, and Al Snow goes over and helps Regal and Tajiri to
their feet.
Reasons: Sets a Tough Enough
challenge match between Snow and Tazz for the new ppv.
WWF – 2 / WECW – 2
--Shane and Stephanie are hyping
up their guys, saying that they didn’t start off that good, but that’s ok,
because it’s the end result that counts. Who wins the most at the end of the
night. Do whatever it takes to win. Shane looks at Scott Pulumbo and Sean O’Haire
and say they’ll take out APA, because they’ve got the best lumberjacks. (Hugh
Morrus, Justin Credible, Chavo Guerrero, Jr., Kanyon, Sean Stasiak)
Edge and Christian vs. Mike
Awesome and Lance Storm
--Mike Awesome and Lance Storm
come out first. Lance Storm gets on the mic and starts his “If I can be serious
for a minute…” but Edge and Christian’s music starts up, and they come down to
the ring. This is a good fast paced tag team match. Christian and Storm start
off, but there are several tags made through-out the entire thing. Storm locks
on the Canadian Maple Leaf on Edge, but Christian nails Storm with his
Unprettier, but then Awesome nails Christian with the Awesome Bomb. Awesome turns
around, about to climb the ropes for his Awesome Splash, but gets kicked in the
stomach by Edge, and gets nailed with the Impaler. Edge covers. 1…2…3! Edge and
Christian are the winners.
WWF – 3 / WECW – 2
--Earl Hebner says he’s ready to
take that no good referee Nick Patrick on, the only thing he is worried about
is who is going to ref the match. Vince McMahon says, in the interest of
fairness, he had someone special in mind.
--Shane watches with Nick Patrick,
and says that if his dad wants to assign the ref for that match, then he wants
it, because he knows that Nick will win, the winner of the match will be the
referee for the Inaugural Brawl.
X-Pac vs. Billy Kidman
--Billy Kidman comes out with his
Cruiserweight Title. X-Pac comes out with the Lightweight Title. X-Pac starts
off fast and furious, but then Kidman fires right back. This match shows off
why these two are the champions in the Cruiserweight Division. X-Pac nails his
Bronco Buster on Kidman. X-Pac throws Kidman into the ropes, and goes for the
X-Factor, but Kidman blocks it. Kidman takes control now, but X-Pac nails him
down, and climbs to the top rope. X-Pac comes off the top rope, but Kidman
dropkicks him on the way down. X-Pac struggles to get to his feet, and Kidman
drives him straight down with his inverted Pedigree. Kidman goes for the cover.
1…2…X-Pac gets his foot on the rope. Kidman can’t believe it. Kidman takes
control some more, but out of nowhere, X-Pac nails the X-Factor. He goes for
the cover. 1…2…foot on the rope. X-Pac can’t believe it. X-Pac has control. He
places Kidman on the top rope, to go for a superplex, but Kidman fights him
off, and drops X-Pac straight down to the ground. Kidman stands up, and leaps
off with the Shooting Star Press, landing on X-Pac. 1…2…3! Kidman wins the
match. After the match, Kidman looks at the WWF Lightweight Title, and actually
hands it to X-Pac, and then leaves.
Reasons: Maybe everyone in the
WECW isn’t so bad afterall.
WWF – 3 / WECW – 3
--APA are getting ready for their
match. They are talking to their lumberjacks (K-Kwick, Billy Gunn, The Big
Show, Essa Rios, and Albert). They say that they are going to make sure that
Sean O’Haire and Scott Pulumbo will be out of that ring to them as much as
possible, and they want to make sure that they get beat down pretty good. The
lumberjacks are ready for it. Then Test walks into the room. There is immediate
tension in the room. Test says he’s not here to fight. He realizes that all of
the crap between them is because of this Invasion. He thought Shane was a
friend, but he knows that was bullshit. WWF is his home, and he wants some help
protecting it, so he wants to know if he can be one of the lumberjacks. Essa
Rios says he can have his spot, and Test says thanks. APA welcome him in.
Hardcore Title Match
Jeff Hardy vs. Rob Van Damn
--Rob Van Damn comes out, and gets
on the mic. He says that he is ECW born and bread. Extreme to the core. And the
Hardcore Title does not need to be around the waste of anyone, but someone from
ECW. Jeff Hardy comes out then. The two go at each other immediately. Their
usual spots take place in this match, and Jeff Hardy reaches under the ring,
and pulls out a ladder. Hardy does his usual ladder spots. He goes for the
Senton off the top of the ladder, but RVD rolls over and kicks the ladder,
causing Hardy to come crashing down. RVD gets control now, and brings in a
chair. He begins to bash Hardy with it. Hardy gets control again. Suddenly, out
of nowhere, Tommy Dreamer comes out, and nails Jeff Hardy, letting RVD get back
control. Matt Hardy comes running down, and takes out Tommy Dreamer, and the
two of them start fighting to the back, but not before Jeff gets the advantage
again. Jeff goes for the Senton Bomb again off the ladder, but RVD grabs a
chair, and throws it up at Hardy as he comes off. Jeff is out cold from the
dropping into the chair shot. RVD grabs Hardy and drags him to the corner, and
then sets up the chair in front of Jeff’s face. He then sets up the ladder, and
leaps off of it nailing Hardy with the Vandamnitor. He covers Hardy. 1…2…3! RVD
is the new Hardcore Champion.
Reason: It gets the Hardcore Title
to where it really belongs in ECW.
WWF – 3 / WECW – 4
--Shane is in the back,
celebrating over bringing the Hardcore Title back to WECW. Kidman comes into
the back, and Shane wants to know what he was doing being nice to X-Pac. Kidman
says that X-Pac was a good opponent, and he didn’t want to take that away from
X-Pac. Shane says they are supposed to be playing dirty, not all nice. Kidman
says he got the win, and that’s what counts. Shane smiles and says he’s right,
and pats him on the back.
--Vince is in the back, and checks
on Jeff Hardy, who’s with Lita and Matt. Vince says it’s ok. They’ll get it
back eventually, but to put the loss behind them, because they are behind. Lita
says she’ll make sure that her and Trish win their match tonight.
APA vs. Sean O’Haire and Scott
Pulumbo
Lumber Jack Match
--Sean O’Haire and Scott Pulumbo
come out first with their Lumberjacks (Hugh Morrus, Justin Credible, Chavo
Guerrero, Jr., Kanyon, Sean Stasiak). Then APA come out with their Lumberjacks
(Test, Billy Gunn, K-Kwick, Albert, Big Show). This is a melee from the very
start, with APA immediately dumping O’Haire and Pulumbo through the ropes to
the Lumberjacks. They beat on them, but they quickly get out of there and slide
back into the ring. It is a regular tag match from here, with various trips out
to the lumberjacks to get beat down for a small amount of time. Both teams go
back and forth with offense, but in the end, APA starts to take control.
Faarooq nails Pulumbo with the powerbomb, and goes for the cover. 1…2…Sean
Stasiak yanks the ref out of the ring. The lumberjacks begin to fight on the
outside, and all hell breaks loose. O’Haire and Pulumbo get beat down by APA.
The ref is accidently knocked down. Faarooq gets knocked to the outside of the
ring by Pulumbo and O’Haire. Bradshaw manages to knock Pulumbo out of the ring,
but O’Haire gets the better of him. Test slides into the ring and nails O’Haire
from behind. Bradshaw runs to the ropes and nails O’Haire with the Clothesline
from Hell, which drives O’Haire to the ground, but as soon as he turns around,
Test drives a huge Big Boot right into Bradshaw’s face, which takes him down.
Test pulls O’Haire over Bradshaw, and wakes the ref up. The ref counts 1…2…3!
Pulumbo and O’Haire win. Test begins to beat down on Bradshaw, when the WWF
lumberjacks slide into the ring to protect him. Test leaves with the WECW, with
a big smile on his face.
WWF – 3 / WECW – 5
--Vince is in the back. He’s
looking worried. They are down by 2. He walks to Steve Austin’s lockerroom and
says that they have to win. Austin gets into Vince’s face and flicks him off,
telling him to get the hell out of his lockerroom, because he’s going to go
into that ring and open a can of whoopass like he always does, and if Vince
gets into his face again, he may have to start a little early. Vince leaves,
but he has a slight smile on his face as he does.
Earl Hebner vs. Nick Patrick
--the announcer is on the mic and
says “ladies and gentlement…the special guest referee for this match…THE BIG
BOSSMAN!” Big Bossman comes down in a referee jersey. He grabs the mic, and
says that in the past, he may not have been the fairest guy around, but he’s a
new man, and he’s going to make sure that this match is damn fair. Nick Patrick
comes down, and then Earl Hebner. Nick Patrick starts this match off early,
taking control, and then Earl Hebner takes control. This isn’t a scientific
match, but does have some descent brawling. Big Bossman is exactly what he said
he was, fair. Nick Patrick gets into his face and pushes him, and Bossman
pushes right back. Hebner gets control because of this, but doesn’t pick up the
win. Nick gets back control again, but out of nowhere, Earl Hebner nails a
stunner, and covers. 1…2…3! Earl Hebner is the winner, and the referee for the
night. Big Bossman raises Hebner’s hand, but Nick Patrick comes from behind and
nails Earl. Bossman stops him and orders him to stop, but Patrick nails
Bossman, which doesn’t phase him. Bossman counters with a few punches of his
own, and then nails the Bossman Slam on Patrick, and then leaves with Hebner up
the ramp.
WWF – 4 / WECW - 5
--Shane is pissed that Nick
Patrick isn’t the referee of the Main Event. Booker T says no worries, because
it doesn’t matter who the referee is, they are going to win, because they have
the talent.
--Vince catches Earl as he goes to
the back. He asks Earl if he’s going to be rooting for anyone in the match
tonight. Earl says he wants the WWF to win, but he just fought Nick Patrick to
make sure that the Main Event is a fair match, and that’s the way he’s going to
call it.
Trish Stratus and Lita vs. Stacy
Kiebler and Torrie Wilson
--Trish and Lita come out, much to
the delite of the fans, and then Stacy and Torrie come out. This isn’t a
technically sound match. It’s your basic cat fight. All four are at least
stripped to either their bras and panties, but in the end, Stacy and Torrie are
the ones that get to both their bras and panties, leaving Trish and Lita the
victors.
WWF – 5 / WECW – 5
--Vince is in the back with Kurt
Angle, Undertaker, Kane, and Chris Jericho, he is riling up the troops. He
hypes them up. Austin isn’t with them.
--Shane, Stephanie, and Paul are
with their team: Booker T, DDP, Dudleys, and Rhyno. They are having the same
pep-talk. They say that it’s all tied. It comes down to one match. There is no
tomorrow for them if they don’t win this match. They gave up everything for
this one opportunity, and they will never get this chance again. So it is time
to show the WWF who the better wrestlers are.
Inaugural Brawl
Steve Austin, Kurt Angle,
Undertaker, Kane, Chris Jericho vs. Booker T, DDP, The Dudley Boys, Rhyno
--Angle, Undertaker, Kane, and
Jericho come down to the ring with Vince McMahon with the WWF music. Then the
glass shatters and out comes Steve Austin. He stands on the turnbuckles, but
pretty much ignores his teammates. Then it is WECW’s time. They come down from their
set with Shane, Stephanie, and Paul. The match starts out with Jericho and
Rhyno going at each other. This has multiple tags. Earl Hebner is totally fair
in this match. Things go back and forth, and then all hell breaks loose, with
all five guys in the ring at the same time. The Dudleys and DDP are fighting on
the outside of the ring with Jericho, Taker, and Kane, and they literally
disappear into the back, leaving only Austin gets knocked out of the ring. Paul
is yelling at Vince McMahon, when Jerry Lawler stands up, grabs Paul, and nails
him hard, taking him down. Vince and Shane start getting into it, with blows
back and forth. Booker T is knocked down, and Angle nails Rhyno with the
Olympic Slam, which also hits Earl Hebner, knocking him down. Angle starts to
cover, but Booker T comes over. Angle drops him with a move, and then locks on
the Angle Lock. Booker T begins to tap, but Earl is down. Angle lets go of
Booker T and walks over to Earl. Austin rolls back into the ring. Vince drops
Shane McMahon, and then looks to see what is going on in the ring. Angle starts
to get Earl moving again. Austin yells at Angle. Angle wants to know what.
Austin lifts Booker T to his feet, and leaves him staggering there. Angle looks
like he doesn’t care, and suddenly Austin turns, kicks Angle in the gut and
stuns him. Vince’s mouth drops, and so does JR and Lawler’s. Booker T crawls
over and covers Angle. Earl is still droggy, but begins the count, not
believing what happened, but still counting. 1…2….3! WECW is the winner. Shane
nails Vince from behind and rolls him into the ring. Vince slowly gets to his
feet. Austin just has a sick smile on his face, and then kicks Vince in the
gut, and stuns him. Austin is hugged by Shane. Who holds the WWF World Title
up, and Booker T holds up the WCW title. The crowd can’t believe it.
Reason: This sets up The Rock
coming back to bring the WWF Title back to the WWF. It gives WECW their main
eventer that is needed, plus it gets Austin back to being a heel.
