Sunday Night Heat
--during the show, Spike Dudley
along with Molly Holly, demands a match against his brothers, The Dudleyz.
Regal actually laughs and asks if he's sure he wants to make it a handicap match.
Spike says yes, he just wants them in the ring. Molly is worried about Spike,
but he says he'll be ok. Regal says ok, and just to give something for Spike to
look forward to, he'll make it a tables match for the tag team titles. Spike
walks off, and Regal just laughs with Tajiri about Spike going to the slaughter
--in the middle of the show,
Albert walks into Regal's office, and demands a title shot. Regal asks against
who, and Albert says Kane. Regal swallows hard, saying that the ppv is pretty
booked. Albert says he wants a title shot against Kane. Regal says he'll have
to see, and he'll get back to Albert. Albert leaves, and Regal asks Tajiri what
should he do. Regal then says he knows... he'll send Tajiri to ask Kane. Tajiri
looks bothered by this, but goes anyway.
--Tajiri finds Kane, and tells
him. Tajiri shakes his head and shoves Tajiri away, and walks toward Regal's
office.
--Kane storms into Regal's office,
which causes Regal to call for Tajiri, but then he realizes that Tajiri isn't
there, and quickly backs away. Regal says he's sorry, he didn't sign the match,
he didn't sign the match. Kane asks what match. Regal says Albert wanted a
rematch, but he's not going to let it happen. Kane says if Albert wants the
match, let him have it. Kane then shoves some stuff off of Regal's desk and
leaves Regal's office. Regal slowly sits back down, still worried, then the
door swings open again, causing him to jump up again, only for it to be Tajiri
stumbling back in. Regal berates him for not being there.
and so that brings us to King of
the Ring...
Lightweight Title
Jeff Hardy (c) vs. X-Pac
--the match starts off fast and
furious. Lita came down with Jeff, and Justin Credible came down with X-Pac.
During this match, the ref goes down. Jeff Hardy goes for the Swanton, but
Justin knocks him down, allowing X-Pac to get an X-Factor on Jeff. The ref is
still down though. Justin climbs into the ring, and they begin to double team
Jeff, until Lita comes out of nowhere, and nails Justin with the HurricinLita,
and knocks him out of the ring. This distracts X-Pac, who goes after Lita, but
Jeff nails him, and once again goes up for the Swanton, just as the referee
comes up. Jeff nails the Swanton, and gets the pin. Jeff is still the
Lightweight Champion.
King of the Ring Tournament
Kurt Angle vs. Christian
--Kurt Angle comes out first and
does his little speech about being a superhero, and about repeating the King of
the Ring, and about defeating Shane McMahon later on the show. Then Christian
comes out, looking really pissed off because he doesn't like having to face the
toughest competition in this King of the Ring tournament.. first Kane, then Big
Show, and now Kurt Angle. This match starts off with Angle dominating, but
Christian comes back too. Then it goes back to Angle dominating. Suddenly,
Shane McMahon's music hits, and Shane slowly walks down to ringside. Angle
starts yelling at Shane, but Shane just shakes his head. Out of nowhere,
Christian rolls Angle up and gets the 1, 2, 3! Angle was just beat, and this allows
Christian to go to the finals. Shane smiles, and then takes off as Angle takes
off after him. Christian celebrates briefly, before stumbling into the back.
Intercontinental Title
Kane (c) vs. Albert
--This is a power match between
the two guys. Both X-Pac and Justin Credible come out after the ref goes down.
The three of them beat down on Kane for a little while, and then suddenly, The
Hardy Boyz come down to the ring, and fight off X-Factor, and fight them into
the back. Kane nails the chokeslam and goes for the pin, but the ref is still
down. Kane walks over to the ref, and tries to wake him up, but when he turns
around, Albert has the IC belt, and nails Kane across the head with it, and
then throws it out. Kane doesn't go down, but Albert nails Kane with the Baldo
Bomb, and gets the pinfall. Albert is the new Intercontinental Champion!
King of the Ring Tournament
Edge vs. Rhyno
--Edge uses his speed, where as
Rhyno uses his power. This match it is the Spear vs. the Gore. Christian comes
down and watches this match from halfway down the ramp. In the end, Rhyno goes
for the Gore, but Edge leaps out of the way, and Rhyno slams into the ring
post, and stumbles out of the corner. Edge turns around and nails the Spear on
Rhyno, and gets the pinfall. The King of the Ring final is set... Edge vs.
Christian!
World Tag Team Titles
The Dudleys vs. Spike Dudley
Tables Match
--The Dudley's come out first, and
aren't taking this as a joke. They want to hurt Spike. Then Spike comes out
along with Molly. At the top of the ramp, Spike tells Molly she should go back
to be safe. Molly is reluctant, but does any way. Spike then runs down to the
ring and goes after his brothers. The Dudleys have to tag during this match. Spike
actually starts out pretty good, but the Dudleys get the better of him, and
begin to take him down, but Spike refuses to give up, and comes back time and
time again. Molly is seen in the back talking to the Holly's. She's begging
them to help Spike. They don't seem to care. Molly is really distraught, and
runs back toward the arena. Spike is really getting man handled, and he looks
like he's in pain. The Dudleys finally pull out a table and set it up. They
start to set Spike up for the powerbomb from the top rope, but they decide
against it, and continue to beat him up. Suddenly, Molly comes running down to
the ring, and climbs into it with a chair. She nails Buh Buh from behind with
it, that causes him to shrug it off. He slowly turns around, and grabs her by
her hair. Buh tells D'von to set-up for the powerbomb through the table. They
move over to the turnbuckle. Suddenly, the Holly's come running out and they
begin to attack the Dudleys with chairs, taking them out completely. The
Dudleys fight back, and Buh Buh succeeds to throwing Crash out of the ring, but
as soon as he turns around, Spike is up, and nails the Dudley Dog on him, and
through the table. Spike wins, and is the new World Tag Team Champion! Spike
and MOlly hug as Spike celebrates. He then thanks the Hollys, who don't seem to
willing to take it, but then shake Spike's hand.
Undertaker / DDP Confrontation
--The Undertaker comes out to the
ring, and says he's ready to head DDP's request about making him famous, so get
his ass out to the ring. DDP's music hits and out comes DDP. He slowly makes
his way down the ramp, but Taker doesn't wait for him to get to the ring, and
the two start brawling at ringside. There is no ref for this match, this is
just a good old fashioned fight. They brawl back and forth around the ring,
through the crowd, into the ring. They use weapons whenever they can get ahold
of them. They go back and forth during this entire fight, but Taker starts
taking control and beating DDP down. Taker is showing his anger. It looks like
he is really about to put a hurting to DDP when suddenly the Titantron goes to
static, and DDP's voice comes over it. Taker looks down at DDP and then up at
the screen. DDP says that he got himself a little insurance policy for this
thing. Suddenly there is a black and white shot of a hotel room where Sarah is.
The camera gets closer and closer, and then it goes to where Sarah is looking
in the mirror, and she screams as she sees DDP in the camera, and there is
static. Taker is staring at the screen, and when he turns around, DDP is up,
and nails Taker with a large blunt object. Taker goes down, and DDP circles
him. DDP then begins to just hammer Taker over and over with the chair, until
Taker is busted open good, and not moving. DDP then grabs a mic and says that
it looks like he just made the Dead Man, live up to his name. He then drops the
mic, and nails him one more time for good measure and walks off, leaving Taker
out cold, and not moving.
Kurt Angle vs. Shane McMahon
Street Fight
--Kurt goes right after Shane, and
this is an interesting match, where Shane capitalizes on Kurt's mistakes, which
there aren't many of. Shane does take it to Kurt for a little while, but then
it looks like defeat is imminant for Shane as Kurt begins to just pummel him.
The two go into the crowd, and out of the crowd someone begins to nail Kurt
Angle. It's Booker T...Booker T! He's nailing Kurt Angle and going at him with
everything he's got. Angle and Booker T fight back into the ring, and are just
going at each other with everything they have. Shane is recovering from the
beating Angle has given him, and slowly moves back to the ring. Angle nails
Booker T down to the mat, when Shane comes up behind Angle and nails him from
behind. Shane begins to get some back on Angle, but Angle eventually gets back
on Shane, and drives him to his knees. Booker T is getting back to his feet.
Shane delivers a huge low blow that doubles Angle over. Booker T comes off the
ropes and nails Angle with the ax kick that drives Angle down to the mat. Shane
covers Angle. 1...2...3!!! Shane is the winner. A beaten Shane celebrates with
Booker T.
King of the Ring Final
Edge vs. Christian
--This match starts off with a few
words by each, about why they each deserve to be King of the Ring. Edge starts
off in charge of the match and gets a near pinfall, but Christian kicks out.
The two begin to go at it. They go back and forth and back and forth. They both
do the cheap shots on each other. Towards the end of the match, Edge goes for
the spear, but Christian leaps over the top of Edge in a leap frog, and Edge
slams into the corner, much like Rhyno did earlier. Edge stumbles out of the
corner, and Christian goes for the UnPrettier, but Edge breaks out of it and
pushes Christian into the corner. Christian bounces out of it backwards, and
Edge runs at him, and goes for the Spear. As Edge does the Spear, Christian
grabs Edge, and drops straight down, reversing the Spear and turning it into a
modified UnPrettier. Edge is down, Christian turns over and covers. 1...2...3!!!
Christian is the 2001 King of the Ring!
World Title
Steve Austin (c) vs. Chris Jericho
vs. Chris Benoit
--This is a back and forth match,
where Benoit and Jericho start off working together, but then it starts to be
every person for themselves as Jericho and Benoit go at each other, turning
this into a true three way match. All three of them have their moments of being
on top, and of teaming up with the other. All of them do their usual big spots
during their match. Jericho nails Benoit with the Lionsault, but Austin breaks
the pinfall. Austin then nails a Stunner on Jericho, and goes for the pin, but
Benoit breaks that up, and knocks Austin out of the ring. Benoit goes to the
top rope, and nails Jericho with the top rope head butt. Benoit goes for the
pinfall, but Austin once again breaks the pinfall. Austin begins to beat down
on Benoit, and kicks him down into the corner, stomping a mudhole in him.
Austin stops and turns back to Jericho, who kicks him, and then grabs his legs
and immediately locks on the Walls of Jericho in the center of the ring. Austin
is screaming in pain. Benoit crawls over to the painful Austin, and also locks
on the Crossface. The crowd is on their feet, thinking this is the end for
Austin. Austin is screaming in pain, but he's refusing to tap. Jericho looks
down at Benoit, and then suddenly turns and just goes off on Benoit, beating
him down. Austin slowly gets to his feet, as Jericho and Benoit begin to go at
each other with blow after blow. Austin slides out of the ring and grabs a
chair. Benoit drops Jericho with the Crossface, but then sees Austin bringing
in a chair. He lets go of the Crossface and nails Austin before he can use the
chair. Austin drops the chair on the mat and begins to get hammered by Benoit.
Jericho picks up the chair. Benoit turns around, and Jericho nails Benoit with
the chair that sends Benoit down. Austin looks down at Benoit and then at
Jericho. Austin then tells him to hit him again, and Jericho does so by nailing
Benoit again and again. Austin then does a lazy cover and tells Hebner to
count. 1...2...3! Jericho has a smile on his face, and him and Austin shake
hands, and walk up the ramp, with Austin holding the World Title.
