VIEWING EXPIERIENCE:     I saw Shrek in the best movie theater ever. Four words: Dippin’ Dots Vending Machine. OH yeah…. too bad it doesn’t include a spoon. I had to use my fingers. Also you could buy actual food at the concession stand like chicken fingers and shrimp. Too bad this bad ass of a theater is in Chicago. Along with me was my gal pal, Lava and her brother, Adithya and sister, Tara. The only reason I went to Shrek was because Adithya and Tara wanted to but I was pleasantly surprised. It was pretty funny and shocking. I went in there expecting some kids' movie but oh no… it definitely isn’t. There was swearing and lewd jokes. Not really that bad but it was there. It was almost PG-13 material. The soundtrack consisted of older songs from the 70’s, which seems to be the trend in movies now a days. A personnel favorite of mine was "I'm a Believer" by the Monkees. As for the graphics they were superb and sometimes you forget they are rendered.
STORY SUMMARY:     The movie contains all the fairy book tales plus some new ones. It also contains an absorbent amount of pop culture references. For example things like, “Houston we have a problem.” Basically Shrek (voice by Mike Meyers) is a cranky and intimidating Ogre who appreciates his privacy. Until one day when a host of fairy tale characters including Donkey (voice by Eddie Murphy) invade Shrek’s swamp. Donkey is a wise cracking loud mouth that sticks by Shrek no matter what. You know the typical sidekick. In return for getting rid of the fairy tale characters on his property Shrek and Donkey go on a quest to rescue Princess Fiona (voice by Cameron Diaz) and bring her back to marry Lord Farquaad (voice by John Lithgow.) That’s all I can say without spoiling it. It’s funny and has its romance.
BEST QUOTES:     "I talk. I LOVE to talk. I'm the most talkingest damn thing you ever seen."
"You're in a right way for a smart bottom, Donkey."
"Just because Snow White lives with 7 men doesn't mean she's easy!"
CONCLUSION:     See it.
