RATING:     5 penguins out of 5 would be delighted after seeing this movie.

VIEWING EXPIERIENCE:     I really like this movie. I had heard that it was horrible so I didn’t expect much. But it really delighted me. Delight is the perfect word for the effect of this movie. First of all the scenery, the costumes, the whole setting, just everything was perfect. From the makeup on Jim Carry’s toes to the top of the Whoville Christmas Tree, everything fits. It’s awesome how well done it is. Also the camera work is really cool. The director, Ron Howard a.k.a. Richie from Happy Days, did a very good job and also the acting was superb. Jim Carry was great as the Grinch. He let his own humor shine through but he didn’t forget the essence of the Grinch or make him too disgusting or rude.

The original How The Grinch Stole Christmas was of course much shorter than the new movie version. So the writers had to stretch the story line and mold it so that it was the right length. I really think it was well done. The rhyming scheme was carried out through it and the added stuff wasn’t too Hollywoodish and fit the Seuss mentality and moral message. The only part that was added that I didn’t like was when the small Cindy-Loo sings a special Christmas song. It thought it was kind of corny and her voice brought bile to the back of my throat. Other than that the story line was wonderful and I love the humor. It was soooo random and weird. This movie is good because adults can watch it and get some of the more inside jokes meanwhile it’s good for children too. It’s chalk full of pop culture references too. This movie is fun for the whole family.

STORY SUMMARY:     The basic story line of the movie is the same as the old version only with more insight. Basically everyone in Whoville hates the Grinch. And Grinch feels the same way about the whos and Christmas. But little Cindy-Loo sees something different under the Grinch’s harry and rough exterior. And she makes it her mission to expose the Grinch for what he really is… a big softy. This story also analyzes why the Grinch hates Christmas and the story of his origin. Can you say childhood trauma and mental baggage?

BEST QUOTE:     *a taxi passes up the grinch* "That's because I'm green! Isn't it!"

                                "This isn't pudding!"

CONCLUSION:     See it whether you are old or small, fat, or tall. See it! See it everyone!
