The Five Basic Points of Wiccan Belief

In Wicca, regardless of tradition, regardless of theology or cosmology or ritual form, there are five sets of Gods. To some groups, these are all seen as one God. To others, they are distinct beings.

Gods of The Ancestors

The gods of the indigenous religions of one's blood, including those indigenous faith lost to history. Invoked at Samhain and at times of family change. These are the Gods that have historically protected your blood kin, and should be honored as such.

Gods of the Clan (or of the Coven)

These are the Gods that your current kin hold as one. The Gods that protect and shelter those who you worship and grow with everyday. Invoked at Beltane and whenever growth or change happens.

Gods of the Individual

These are the Gods that speak to you, work with you and work through you, your Patron and Matron gods, or those you serve. Invoked in every ritual.

Gods of The House (or The land)

These are those gods which protect and defend the house and its inhabitants, and those of the land the house is built on. Even if they are not known, they should be invoked at every ritual, prayer and rite in that house.

Gods of the Wicca

The Lord and Lady as the forces of masculine and feminine energy. Invoked in every ritual.
