street jesus

i lost my way
walkin' down the street
i wonder why this day
feels so incomplete

i met a man
he had two left feet
dining with the rich
in the gutter of the weak

and i wonder why
i even bother to speak
when the
conversational topic
is just the flavor of the week
it's kinda low, but
it's kinda peaked

and it's you and me
and you and me and

an utopian home
with a dysfunctional theme
and insincere motives
come from cannibal dreams

we're all fed by a spoon
that's never been cleaned
no wonder we ask for
an end to our means

and i wonder why
i even bother to speak
when the
conversational topic
is just the flavor of the week
it kinda bad, when
it kinda reeks

and it's you and me
and you and me and

a thousand sons of god
walkin' down the street
they act sorta rude
to everyone they meet

i bow my head
and smile in defeat
the only one
who can feel the heat

and i wonder why
i even bother to speak
when the
conversational topic
is just the flavor of the week
i'm kinda loud, but
i'm kinda meek

and it's you and me
and you and me and

i'm clingin' to life
by the soles of my feet

and it's you and me
and you and me and

us.
