Carpe Diem??!!

Carpe Diem. Seize the day! Ever had someone screamed that in your ears? Funny how some days your eyelids just refuse to lift themselves up, even when you’re sitting in front of the television with your favourite actor plastered across the screen. Not that you have any problem drooling over him, since the muscles on your jaws would probably be far too relaxed to hold in the saliva – the only product your body seem to be able to produce in abundance despite your state of half-wakefulness. Ever felt like you accidentally pressed the slow-motion button on your remote control and everything seem to shuffle pass you at the speed of a walking snail? Remember slouching on your chair in class and looking at the teacher with half-closed eyes thinking you’d love to pound the head of the guy who invented school? After all, you have better things to do, like lying on the couch, watching TV and letting you muscles disintegrate into a pile of mush. Bingo. You’re as human as I am.

It is true that the lazy bugs have bigger affinity towards weak-minded people but heck; as long as you are human, you are susceptible. I learnt in one of my not-too-interesting-classes that in the Malay language, ‘human’ is referred to as ‘Manusia’ which essentially means lazy – a proven fact that laziness is in our general make-up as homo-sapiens and it has been known to be such since time immemorial. Like our very basic need for food and love, so is there a need for us to be lazy. So the next time you feel your muscle go slack and you vision goes blurry, don’t feel guilty; it is the primitive you telling you that you need to indulge in your need to be lazy. Maybe you think I am just looking for excuses to prop my feet up on the table with not a care to the world and have my mind rendered useless, but everyone has a right to their thoughts and mine happen to be as written. Deny that you have ever succumbed to laziness? Write me. You’d be an interesting person to know.
