My Asturias classical guitar
purchased at Guitar Solo in San Francisco, CA. This is really a marvelous
instrument, with great tone, exceptional playability, and lots of range as
far as dynamics and timber. Fingernails are a must with a delicate
guitar like this, and the metronome is close by for a reason: Classical
music is very demanding! I prefer to play impressionistic and rag
time style classical, as well as solo blues and jazz oriented pieces. |
My Takamine model EF 108K
purchased at Owens Music Co. in Santa Maria, CA. Made mostly of Hawaiian
Koa wood (giving it that rich, dark red color), this guitar looks as
beautiful as it sounds. The thin body and sleek neck makes it remarkably
playable (seeming more like an electric than an acoustic), and the tone
through a P.A. is balanced and full. The onboard Takamine pre-amp keeps
the controls within my reach. It's sweet guitar that sounds great
contrasting Sloan's Martin D-1 in our band, The
Sloan Tash Acoustic Trio. |

First of all, my Epiphone
custom. I bought her used from Knight's Music in Diamond Springs CA nearly
ten years ago. It's a nice electric guitar that needs new pick-ups and
some fret work, which will happen soon. The bottom amp is a late 80's
Acoustic brand 60 watt tube amplifier which at present is acting as an expensive extra 12 inch
speaker cabinet for the amp above it, a Peavey Delta Blues 2x10. I recently
bought
this amp at Sound Source in my hometown of Chico, CA, and it's a great
sounding amp for it's price range (around $500). The lead channel sounds
killer, and the extra 12 helps to even out the focused sound of the two
ten's. This amp is the 30 watt little brother of Sloan's Classic 50 2x12. |

A little Bach on a warm spring day? This
photo was taken in the Sierra Nevada foothills near Lake Tahoe. I am
playing a Bach lute suite on my Asturias classical. |
