Rabid
The words have fallen; the hopelessness is out
I wish I could fix it but I don't know how
A simple goodbye; another embrace
I can't seem to forget your face
Lay down the guns and stand in awe of the stars
I wish I could see you for what you are
I love the saltiness but fear the scars
Another casualty in this useless war
We greet the end by pointing the blame
Whatever I say it'll be the same
From time to time I feel the chill
On cold - hearted days I feel you still
The perfect ending isn't always a fairy tale
You don't need the cross to feel the nail
Word for word and pound for pound
The fact is you're just not around
Sleep on the anger, but don't pollute the bed
All in all I guess it's all been said
One more socket and one more turn
The ice can't extinguish the burn
Naked from the neck up, I'll no longer wear my face
Wash my wings - I can't forget the taste
