Milk Snakes are one of my favorite snakes. They have a great coloration, with there reddish-brown and white markings. From my experience, the best place to find milks is on lesser traveled roads next to fields. Dirt roads are even better. These snakes love to bask on roads, and will often not even try to escape when approached, until you touch them. When grabbed, most will try to bite, and I know from experience a large one can do a good job of it. The current record eastern milk was 52" long. Last summer I found a 48 incher. New Jersey has some of the largest milks on the East Coast, probobly a record length one somewhere.
