Musk Turtles
If you know a good place for snapping turtles, chances are you know a good place for musk turtles too. Musks are a lot like a small version of a snapper as a matter of fact. The musks are about five inches on the carapace, and have a snapper-like head and neck extension. The musks have to white stripes across teh face, and have a smooths shell with no points on the trailing edge like a snapper. Their diet is alike (to scale that is), and the musks have powerful, sharp jaws and will not hesitate to bite when picked up. The reason they are called "musks", or even skintpot, is that when frightened, they excrete a powerful smelling liquid (musk). Some will not do this, but most will. The smell is pretty bad and sometimes hangs on your hands. Be careful of the bite too, as they are usually more than able to lacerate the skin.
