Troll History
The progenitors of the trolls, small ape-like creatures who were
in the service of the High Ones, travelled to the world of Two Moons on the
Palace-ship along with their elfin masters and the Preservers. Some of the
proto-trolls, however, caused an accident which sent the shapechanged ship
spiralling out of control -- and once the Palace crashed in the early primitive
days of the world of Two Moons, the little 'diggers' (as they were called)
escaped into the surrounding wilderness. Unlike most of the elves, they fled
underground from the humans who might have slaughtered them. As centuries
passed, the trolls grew bigger and stronger as they began to hone their
mining and forging skills, until they became the creatures portrayed in the
_Elfquest saga.
