Title: The Golden Ring Author: Sky Fairy E-mail: ejdaly@earthlink.net AIM: LitiaSkyFairy Chapter: Two- A Royal Death Rating: PG Timeline: After Stars Setting: Tokyo “ “ = Speech ‘ ’ = Thoughts << >> Flashback {{ }} = Authors Notes ~*~*~*~ = Next Scene Disclaimer: I (obviously) do not own Sailor Moon. She, (as we all know,) belongs to Naoko Tekuchi. I do wish I owned her though, as you do too, but I don’t. Darn it! Note: This is one of my “Soul Inside” story with the Legendary Sailor Scouts. I have become quite attached to them through my writing of the Sailor Moon L fan fiction… So I hope you don’t mind them. Oh, and they are in their “Cosmic” form in this fiction. Also, the first characters to die in this story were not because I don’t like them, they were randomly chosen out of a hat, because I couldn’t decide which to use. It, however, will not change the story, which is mainly about Cosmos and the Legendary Sailors. Oh, another thing…some things may be a bit hard to understand, so I will draw pictures to go along with it, and if you can’t find them on the site where you found this fan fiction, E-mail me and I’ will be glad to send them to you! Oh, and like I always say, although the Legendary Scouts were based after my best friend, my sister, and I, WE ARE NOT THE SAME PEOPLE! Although we did use the same features, we are not quite as tall, and are not, unfortunately super heroes. So please, don’t think that we are bragging, cause we’re not. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ The first morning ray of sunlight shone in upon the quiet sleepers of the marble palace. The day came in like a lamb, and due to the situation in this place, no one knew how it would end. But they knew what the day would be like. Although the sun shone a beautiful red, it rained a little. It was not a heavy rain, but more like the tears of girl, when she is far from home, and has nothing. The light reached Beth in her opal room. She opened her eyes slowly, and stared out the glass that led to her balcony, which looked over the many beautiful gardens. “I can’t even imagine how much fun Sailor Moon had here with Darien. If only…” she looked down at her bare hand. There wasn’t anything on it, not a scratch, not a mark, not even a ring… She shot up in bed. “That’s it!” Beth jumped out of bed, and transformed into her cosmic uniform. Then, she raced out the door, and down into Cosmos’s marble room. Cosmos still slept, but it was not a quiet sleep. She was tossing and turning, and mumbling things like, “No!” and “Stop!” Beth raised her glass staff and waved it, then pointed it at Cosmos. A small speck of light drifted into cosmos’s head, and she immediately calmed down. “Cosmos! Cosmos wake up! I know what to do!” Beth whispered to the sleeping beauty. “What?” Cosmos slowly rose, her eyes adjusting to the intense light of the sun. “What do you mean?” “Get up and come to the sapphire room, we need to go on a search.” Beth left the room, to go wake up the others. Cosmos slowly rose and she changed into her cosmic uniform, and headed sleepily down the stairs. By the time she got to the conference room, the other three were already there. “About time!” said Katy. “We really need an elevator,” mumbled Cosmos as she sat down at the head of the table. She put her head in her hands and rubbed her eyes. “Now, what did you say about a search, Beth?” “A long time ago, a ring was created. It had the power to give it’s owner awesome powers, but, since no one knew it’s creator, no one knows if the powers are dark or good. It was made for one person, and no one knows who it is, but if we find it, we should be able to figure it out.” She had the attention of the whole table now. All three pairs of bright eyes sparkled with wonder and imagination as Beth continued the tale of this ring. “What does it look like?” inquired Cosmos, trying to remember if she had seen a ring while outside in the debrief. “It is said to be gold in color, with its owners name inscribed on the inside.” “Beth!” Cosmos stood up. “I saw such a ring. I was searching for the locket tat Darien gave Serena back in the silver millennium, but I found a gold ring. It was slightly dirty, and had something inscribed on the inside, but I couldn’t read it.” “What did you do with it?” Beth stood up with Cosmos. “I tried to put it up into its crystal. But the first time it didn’t work, so I tried it again. It only went up about five feet, and the other things worked…” Cosmos said in sort of a pleading voice, for she was worried about the mixed look of anger and deep thought Beth got when something like this happened. Her eyes would darken to almost black, and her eyebrows would knit together in concentration. It seemed ads though she was staring at something, but she wasn’t really seeing, she was thinking. After about a minute of tension between the four scouts, Beth finally said, “Did it go back into the crystal?” All attention turned to Cosmos. “I…I…I don’t know. I was blinded by my tears and…” she started. Beth raced out of the room. She almost broke her staff, too, but Katy caught it as Beth ran out the door. The three ran after her, to find her opening the ruby crystal room’s door. They caught up with her, just before the door closed. “Damn-it! I need my staff…” Beth said as she realized she had left her staff in the sapphire room. Katy walked up slowly, unsure of the look in Beth’s eyes, and handed it to her. “Oh, thanks, Katy.” Beth waved her staff, and with it pointed towards the ceiling, a beam of rainbow light shot out of it, and the light came in touch with each crystal. Nothing happened. Beth was about to give up hope, and look for it outside, but then her now dark brown eyes saw a small glittering thing only a few meters away. She hurried over to it, and jumped in excitement. Her eyes returned back to their normal deep brown, and sparkled, just like the piece of gold in her hand. “This is it!” she cried, rushing over to the others. “This is the ring that I was talking about! Now all we need to find is it’s owner, and…” “But how will we know who it’s owner is?” said Eve. “If Cosmos had it first, then you found it, who knows whom it was meant for.” Eve watched the eyes of her older sister; they stayed the same. “Eve! That’s easy, we do a test. We each practice battling in the Emerald training room, and who ever it works for is the one who will wear it.” “But isn’t the emerald room only accessible, even for you, when there is direct danger nearby? Plus, if it is an evil ring, and if we use it here, it would harm the palace, which is the only safe place for us anymore. Shouldn’t we try it in real life?” “Well, we’re open to any suggestions as to where, when and on whom,” said Katy irritated. “Besides, I too know about the ring. I read about it once in a myth book. Whoever finds the ring first is it’s owner, and Beth, didn’t you walk exactly where Cosmos walked? And you didn’t see anything. And doesn’t it just make logical sense that the leader of all of us should wear the ring? Cosmos, did the ring fit your finger?” “Yes, it did. It fit perfectly,” she replied. “Well?” said Eve. “Doesn’t it work?” All attention again turned to Beth, who began to mumble something… "...She finds a ring, small and gold, To wear upon her hand, She led with it, she ruled with it, She ruled upon all the land. "The ring was made for her only, It only fit her finger, would fit no one else’s… "Darn it! I can’t remember the last part. But I think you are right. This is the ring in the poem and it says that it will only fit the finger of the one whom it was made for. And the person who wore this ring ruled and was a leader, and she changed the world with it. And obviously, this ring fits Cosmos, so it’s owner must be her!” “Wow! Who would make a ring for me though? Where is that poem from? It sounds familiar, at least the rhythm,” said Cosmos. “It was the part of the poem the maker of this ring enchanted it with. That is all that was in the book. The end was never written in words, only spoken by the people who lived in the land of its maker,” Beth said. Then, she turned around, and faced Cosmos Beth walked over to her, and took her hand, and slipped the ring on to Cosmos’s finger. The ring did nothing; it acted as any other ring she had put on. Cosmos felt no difference. “Are you sure it is for me? It does nothing to me, I feel nothing.” “No, I am not sure it is for you. You could just have a finger that fits it. But, for sure, no one else in this room fits the description of it’s owner, you are the closest one, but we still have no end to it…” “Okay Beth, now what? We have the ring, and it’s owner, what now?” Eve said impatiently. “I don’t know. But, if you want something I just remembered, I can tell you. The disaster hit during the realm of Eternal Sailor Moon. Because of it, we had no Crystal Tokyo, and we went forward in time to where we are now…that’s all I know. Oh, but, I also know a way that might save us,” Beth said. “Come with me,” Beth waved her staff, and they entered into the garnet room, with the scouts’ crystals. They stood and looked up at the five, large crystals. Beth’s e yebrows knit together in confusion. Then, she stepped back, and the others followed. All of a sudden, a pink light speckled with pink sparkles started to gather in the center of the room. A sound got louder and louder. Then, a light pink crystal formed, and floated with the other five. The four scouts gasped. Cosmos dropped her staff and dashed up the stairs into the pink quartz room where Rini lay. The three legendary scouts dashed up the stairs after her. They bumped into her and fell on the floor, because she stood frozen in the doorway. Her body shivered and she turned as white as snow. “RINI!” She screamed and she ran over to the bed. A cold, stiff body lay upon the satin sheets, and the young maidens cheeks were no longer pink. Cosmos shivered and shook, her eyes dripped with sparkling tears, and they stained the dress of the young Rini. “RINI! Come back to me, PLEASE?!” Cosmos was once again hysterical. But, the young Rini did not awaken, not even through all the screaming. The faces of the legendary scouts also whitened and they bowed their heads, while their eyes, too, filled up with crystal tears. Cosmos grabbed the body of her young daughter, and held her close. But then, like all the other scouts, her body began to sparkle with the same light the pink crystal was made of. She became almost transparent. “Rini? Rini!” Cosmos held her daughter tighter, but it was no use. Within a matter of seconds her body disappeared and the pink light faded away. “NO! RINI! Come back! Don’t leave me!” Cosmos shrieked. Her daughter was now gone, and all that remained of her was her soul, locked away in a pink crystal in the Garnet room. “Beth! Katy! Eve! Bring Rini back! I want my daughter back!” Cosmos shrink to the floor and used her hands to cover her red stained face, due to all her tears. None of the scouts said anything. They just walked over to Cosmos, and helped her stand up, and walk back to the Sapphire conference room. They then sat her down. And began to think about how to end the death and sadness of one to many people. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Well, that’s the second chapter! I hope you liked it. I know it is MUCH shorter than the first, but this seemed like a good stopping point. Oh and I am sorry if this is a bit dark, but this event has to happen in order for…something else to happen. Chapter 3 coming soon!
