Dreamchaser
Dreamchaser, a young paint stallion was born at the academy, the son
of two wild borns. Dreamchaser's
sire, a big rugged stallion left the academy not long after Dreamchaser
was 6 months old, returning to the
wilds after deciding he did not want to chance being bonded.
Dreamchaser's mother, already bonded, remained at the academy with her
son until he was a year old, then she too left. To go on circuit with her
bonded, leaving Dreamchaser alone. Feeling abandoned by both
his parents, Dreamchaser is a quiet, painfully shy stallion. He's hesitant
at best to socialize with others and avoids others when ever he can. Part
of his problem being he fears being left behind and abandoned again if
he lets anyone to close.
Seeing how bonded unicorns and their riders act with each other, a part
of Dreamchaser aches to bond also. To have that kind of close companion.
One he knows will never, could never, abandon him. Because of this strong
desire, Dreamchaser can often be found lurking around where ever unbonded
students are,
though he's never come to close to them.
Dreamchaser has the ability, when someone is sleeping, to enter their mind through their dreams. The Elders wonder what will happen when this 'corn Bonds and how the mind sharing will expand his natural talent. There is speculation as to whether his talent might be employed to enable him to interact with the dreamer and perhaps even affect the dreamscape. It is possible that, given time and practice that the link into the dreamers mind might enable him to sift through the thoughts, emotions and memories that have created the dream. Of course, this level of ability is unlikely to develop before many years of training and practice have gone by. The potential for mind healing - and for harm - with this is formidable and the Elders are watching him closely to see how this develops. They are concerned about this lonely stallion with this potentially intrusive talent and are anxious to see him Bond and develop the sort of close natural ties that won't lead him to seek company only in the dream world.
