Illaria Kaitarass

Illaria was born to Roslynn and Arak Kaitarass of the Rin Caad traveling troupe 'Dancing Mist', where her mother is a stage actress and dancer. Her father died in a horrific accident when she was only eight years old, the faint silver scar along her hairline being only one of the physical reminders of the tragedy. It was with the troupe on one such tour that brought the young teenager's dreams into being when she happened to be present in the city of Five Lakes as a Uen Roug herald made the proclamation. Recruitment.

Standing at 5'9" tall, Illaria has skin the color of alabaster and dimples that sink like deep pits into her cheeks when she smiles. Her hair falls like a blanket to her waist, an unruly mass of fiery curls that endlessly escape any and all attempts at securing. A most peculair aspect of her appearance is her eyes. They are a molten silver, like liquid mercury in their shading, but whereas they reflect images and light, they do not hold any semblance of 'life'. Emotions are undetectable within these pools, causing an eery effect- one that tormented her throughout her life before coming to the Academy.

Growing up, Illaria was cherished and coddled by her parents, even more so after the death of her father. But the supersticious performers and workers of the 'Dancing Mist' looked upon the strange-eyed child as a bad omen. Any mishaps were her burden to bear, any misfortune was inadvertently her doing. She was nicknamed 'ghost-girl', among other less than pleasant names, and was considered to be a speaker with the dead.

With a temper as flaming red as her hair, Illaria does not lose it often, but when she does it is much like a legendary dragon spitting fire. Usually it is much to her regret afterwards as she loses control and her tongue grows barbs... Ironically, it is just this temper that fueled a little girl into action. Always a stubborn child, she finally decided to fight back against the other children of the troupe who bullied her unmercifully. She learned to use a staff by swinging sticks and an old broom handle and very cleverly used the other childrens' fear of her against them, even going so far as to pretend that she was calling up the spirits of the dead.

Loyal to a fault, this student has a dramatic flare to her personality and a vivid imagination. This and her life spent mostly behind or on-stage has made her excel in drama classes. Riding is another very strong point for her, as is weapon's training and ancient history, but when it comes to diplomacy, tactics and leadership she fails miserably. She cannot seem to grasp the concept of steadying oneself and taking charge and responsibilty of others.

Her main goal in life was to Bond. To recieve the love, attention and understanding that goes with a soulmate and to forever more have a special friend. And so it was on the day of the Lightning Class' Graduation, that Illaria Bonded to Crossfire amidst the tremendous gathering of Roug, friends and family members, thus jokingly half of Uen witnessed their union. The Light itself blessed Illaria in yet another way with the combined love of her newly Bonded... the young woman has finally come to terms with her father's death and sees it for the accident that it was.

CROSSFIRE

Never much of a standout at the Academy, Crossfire seemed to score as pretty average on all levels: he was even tempered and friendly, but no socialite by any means, a competent fighter, intelligent but not exceptionally so, and his magical ability (his talent is that ability to control the direction and force of launched missiles - such as javelins, arrows, etc.) was fairly average, as well. In fact, poor Crossfire began to feel as though there were nothing special about him at all, and so he petitioned the Magic Department to let him participate in some of their experiments, hopefully to enhance something beyond the average. For a while, nothing happened, but just recently the scholars tied his magical essence into one of the local nodes of the Light and the side effects have been a little strange... that is, whenever he is near a node, sometimes a talent other than his own will suddenly manifest itself, only to disappear moments later, giving his name a whole new dimension and often making things quite confusing for the poor young stallion who's never sure what to expect when he invokes his magical talent. Nodes, incidentally, float perpetually in the sea of the Netherealm, and are virtually impossible to detect. Crossfire will need a resilient and resourceful young Uen Roug to keep his talents in order whenever a node is near.... something that his newly Bonded Illaria is more than willing to learn how to do.

Crossfire was awakened to the idea that perhaps he is not as average as he, and everyone else, seemed to think that he was. His recent Bonding to Illaria begs the question: if he is so plain and average, why did the Light see fit to bless him with a Bonded? And of course, he is nothing short of magnificent in the eyes of his Illaria.

STATS: 16.2h, male, bay, born @ Academy in 107 ADT, 7 ST. First listed 8/29/98.
