Jeremal Echevart
Jeremal Echevart was born 1 Ombra 38 ADT in the then-small town of Lake Briston. His parents, Jycob and Emeleine Echevart, were leather and fur merchants and maintained a local store and trading post which served primarily as a main stop along a trading route established by Emeleine's father and brothers who had long before established themselves as the top fur and leather merchants in Derico. Jeremal was the third child of eight, and the first son. His two elder sisters, however, were more than five years his senior and, by the time he was old enough to consider his future, had already begun to share the responsibilities of his parents' business. Jeremal's aunt had attended the Academy as a girl, but had never Bonded. As a boy, however, he had often listened to her stories of unicorns and of whenever she came to visit, and was intrigued by the thought of becoming a dashing and heroic Roug! His mother encouraged him to apply at the Academy and in 53 ADT, at 15, he decided at last to leave his home in Lake Briston and travel to Pallahade.
Once accepted at the Academy, Jeremal proved to be an apt pupil, excelling especially in swordfighting, history, and leadership, and diplomacy/languages. At age 18, with one year left of schooling, he Bonded to the Academy superstar, the enormous stallion Titan, whose impressive powers, outstanding charisma, and maturity, even at the age of 4, were enough to stamp him in the eyes of his Elders and peers as destined for success. After graduating with the Iron Class in 57 and completing their training mission, Jeremal and Titan were assigned to circuit duty in Aedelfar where they very quickly (and not surprisingly) rose to the rank of Station Commander in 59 ADT. There they fostered many new policies and public initiatives and together with the local government were able to change the once crime-infested tourist trap into an economically-flourishing, clean, safe place to live. The Station also became a very popular post for young Roug, as Jeremal was known for being a charismatic and even-tempered leader also very sensitive to the needs of his charges. The parties he threw for his men and women in those days, are still legendary. In 68 ADT he married one of the Aedelfar-stationed healers, the Wyn Lt. Lyrissa Bane.
All his success, of course, attracted a lot of notice from both the Elders and the current Roug higher-ups, and in 71 ADT Jeremal and Titan were awarded the commission of General of the Northwest Region, whereupon he and Lyrissa moved to Pallahade where she obtained a job teaching herbal- and magical-healing at the Academy. There she gave birth to their first son, Koby, in 72 ADT, and their two daughters, Emelyn and Jaris, in 75 and 78 ADT. After another highly successful stint, this time as General, Jeremal was chosen in 82 ADT by the Elders to succeed Commander Belson and Rhapsody after their untimely death in 81. After a highly productive 22 years as Commander, Jeremal announced his retirement on his 66th birthday, 104 ADT, so that he might spend time with his grandchildren and tend to his failing health.
He now lives in Pallahade with his wife and Titan's Mate, and both are frequent visitors to the Academy, as well as trusted advisors to both Amaris and Starlight.
In his prime, Jeremal stood 5'11" with neatly-combed, fine brown hair and dark, smiling eyes and an average complexion. With tall, arching brows and a somewhat-squarish but not unattractive nose, a tapering jaw, medium build, and a confident walk, Jeremal was always somewhere between average and attractive, although his confidence and charisma have always added tremendously to his appeal.
With a warm sense of humor and a wit much quicker than his Bonded, Jeremal has always been immediately likeable, talkative, and friendly to everyone. He is a strong tactician with a strong sense of social justice and a progressive spirit, his main concerns while in office included both just punishment for criminals and equal citizen's rights. He sometimes had (and still has!) a tendency to let his mouth get ahead of his mind, speaking a little too freely on occasion, but he has learned, over the years (and perhaps under Titan's influence), to be discreet if necessary. He always had a somewhat uneasy relationship with Pados, though was quite close with the other Generals and still is. He was especially happy that Amaris was the General chosen as his successor.
Now in his 70s, Jeremal retains his good-humor though he has put on
a few pounds and lost a great deal of his hair. He has a heart condition
which makes it difficult to maintain any kind of physical activity for
very long. He sleeps a lot and plays lots of chess with his wife and grandchildren.
In the past few years he has also begun to show the first signs of senility,
much to his Bonded's alarm, forgetting sometimes where and when he is.
His hobbies have always (and still) include birdwatching, rock collecting,
cooking (he is a fine chef!), chess, and hiking with his Bonded (though
more strenuous hikes now are, of course, out of the question).

history & personality: Titan was born at the Academy in 52 ADT to a young wildborn-convert stallion and the current Headmaster's Bonded. Physically impressive, charismatic, friendly, and powerful -- Titan was the superstar of the Academy in his day, the "golden boy" who seemed to master effortlessly everything he tried. Intelligent, though uncomplicated in manner and mindspeech (Titan never had any pretension towards or ability for art, poetry, or anything intellectual!), Titan proved over the years to be a fine battle technician, diplomat, and leader. After his and Jeremal's training mission, they were assigned to circuit duty in Aedelfar where they very quickly (and not surprisingly) rose to the rank of Station Commander in 59 ADT. They were awarded the commission of General of the Northwest Region in 71 ADT, and in 82 ADT were chosen by the Elders to succeed Commander Belson and Rhapsody after their untimely death. With a deep, resonant mindvoice and a commanding air, Titan always managed to be straightforward without being pushy -- his leadership inspiring rather than demanding. Always in good humor, slow to provoke but quick to act, Titan was ever the ideal-Commander's Bonded: emotionally and physically rocksteady. A valiant but uncomplicated fighter; a careful and thorough thinker, with wit to spare (though somewhat un-quick in his thinking).
After a very successful and landmark 22 years as Commander's Bonded, Titan has accompanied his aging Bonded in retirement since 1 O 104. They live in Pallahade with Jeremal's wife and Titan's Mate, and are frequent visitors to the Academy, as well as trusted advisors to both Amaris and Starlight. Titan is still in the prime of his life.
Titan's hobbies include: adventuring in the Khalakopf and moonlighting from time to time as the Unicorn Battle Instructor at the Academy, when they need him.
