Kassie Kirk
Kassie is the daughter of General Spiker.
Posted in Derico on circuit duty in 106 ADT, she was present for the arrival of new recruits Asia and Balthazar and Wyn Lt. Raylin. A bright and cheerful young woman, she has a platinum blonde ponytail swinging about her shoulders and vibrant green eyes. Her upbeat disposition has a certain mellowing effect on the disturbed and though she was never a whiz at her studies, she did do especially well in herbal healing classes as her desire to make others feel better found it's use. Kassie makes friends easily, but sometimes she forgets that the world is not such a nice place, that everyone does not think like she does. She is naive and far too trusting, something her Bonded's wary nature tempers. She also had a crush on Lt. Raylin and is prone to blushing when a handsome man pointedly shows her attention.
Kassie stands 5'5" and has a willowy build. Straight, platinum blonde hair, she has a slight dusting of freckles across the bridge of her nose and over her high cheekbones. Prefers to dress in 'light and airy' clothes, whites, pale blues & greens. She is also epileptic, prone to seizures, a condition she used to keep hidden from her peers, but not one that she hides any longer after she seized one afternoon on a field trip and no one knew what had caused the reaction.
Born in 88 ADT to Spiker and Luisa Kirk, Kassie is the youngest of their three daughters and quite obviously the light shining in her daddy's eyes. She has often gotten the barbs from her sister Hyra, who also studied at the Academy but did not Bond. Kassie is usually too sweet-natured to be considered spoiled, but she does know who to turn too if she needs a champion and with her over-protective father and her own fiercely protective Bonded, there is little she has to fear... or so it would seem, as Kassie is never wanting or needing for anything and is able to indulge her easy-going, care-free nature.
Kassie and Goldenmane Bonded and graduated in 105 ADT. Kassie was 17 and Goldenmane was 6.
Kassie's condition:
Kassie suffers from epilepsy, a condition that she was born with, but
that did not manifest until she was 5 years old. It is caused by the sudden
onset of an abnormal, electrical discharge within the brain that in turn
triggers convulsions. These uncontrolled spasms are violent in nature,
causing her whole body to go rigid, her eyes to roll back in her head and
her muscles to jerk.
The seizures that Kassie has are called grand mal seizures and they are triggered by abnormal sensations, such as flashing or flickering lights, extreme pain or stress, or at the onset of a certain body temperature- caused by external sources or by something internal, like a fever.
Likened to running a marathon, Kassie awakens after what is called a brief, or temporary coma (lasts only minutes) feeling exhausted, confused and with a terrible headache. Usually she is also terribly embarrassed and suffers from a short spell of depression.
The disorder is controllable by taking medication to suppress it, but as is true with about 70% of these types of disorders, the cause for them is unknown.
Currently, Kassie's seizures are infrequent, even rare.

Goldenmane
Arrogant & unruly with a bad temper, a vicious & uncontrolled fighter, Goldenmane lashes out with teeth, hooves & words before he considers the consequences of his actions. He is a true believer in the 'strike first, ask questions later' mentality. Although he can be thoughtless and often careless, he is surprisingly clever and very good at solving puzzles. It is just a fact that is far too easy to overlook with his confrontational nature. Kassie is his only soft spot and he is fiesrcely protective of her, believing that his naive Bonded is far too susceptible to being taken advantage of.
His power is the ability to make living organic material, ie: People, animals or plants, invisible for short periods of time.
