Moonsong was an almost ethereal silver-white stallion, so very close
to the Light that he sometimes seemed almost not present in the earthly
world
As a foal he would stand stock still, ears forward listening, listening
as though he could hear things that others could not.
He was of the first birthed generation of unicorns who Bonded with
humans, son of a pair who fought against the Demon King. When he
reached the age that most unicorns Bond he did not listen to his teachers
or tend to what they were saying to him about what he could expect.
He seemed almost distracted and gently tried to have them leave him alone.
No one knew however what he had planned but then, it is doubtful that they
could have stopped him if they had have known.
He left the Academy in an unprecedented search for the one who would
be his Bondmate. After days of searching, he found him.
In the quiet village of ............. there was an important Chapel
of the Light, protecting and keeping cleansed a powerful node. The
Chapel Keeper was tending his altar one night having been called by his
faith from his bed. He knelt by the altar in a sense of trust and
with the full moon shining down through the open door.
All at once, the silvery light grew brighter, illuminating the entire
chapel with a wondrous, magical glow. There was a sound that he would
later only be able to describe as the sound the moon makes as it rises.
In awe and sensing that something marvellous was happening to him, the
Chapel Keeper turned around to the open door.
There in the moonlight and seeming to emanate that silvered glow was
a ghost-like unicorn who regarded him with an acceptance and love that
filled his eyes, his heart and his soul.
When the Academy Uen Roug finally found Moonsong they discovered him
with his First Bonded, looking so much a part of each other that no one
present doubted that the Light had spoken.
Moonsong's talent may not have been termed a practical one but with
it he gave great joy and a sense of pease. He could draw down the
light of the moon, to limn everything around him in that magical glow.
Those who were bathed in the silvery light felt themselves to be blessed
and renewed.
The two served the Light and the people of ................. for many
long years until the Chapel Keeper was almost as frail and ethereal as
his Bonded had always appeared to be. Moonsong and his Bonded
are remembered for something they were both so fond of saying: {{The
Light is everywhere.}}
He and his Bondmate died together in their sleep one moonlit night
high on a hilltop. It is said that the local villagers were called
to the hilltop by a strange silvery glow of moonlight circling the mound
even after the day was breaking. There was a bell-like humming in
the air that reverberated around the hillside. Only in the warmth
of the summer sun did the silver light disperse and all who witnessed it
knew that the spirits of Moonsong and his Keeper Bonded had gone safely
to the Light.
