Born at the Academy to a pair of wildborns-turned-Roug, Nightshade has always felt she was a little different from the other young Academy corns. Her childhood filled with her parents' tales of the wild herds, she has grown up idolizing the romantic wildborn ideal.  Though she knows in her heart that she's not a true wildborn and doesn't really fit in with them on campus, she considers wildborns more her "people" than Academy corns, and part of her is even now questioning her place at the Academy. But though she may feel like an outsider among her Academy playmates, deep down she's all Academy 'corn and she may be in for a surprise when she finally does meet up with a wild herd and see that they're not all she's romanticized them to be.

Nightshade tends to keep to herself, feeling that she doesn't really fit in wherever she goes, though she tries to be friendly in social situations.  She believes in herself and doesn't mind speaking her mind, though she wishes others would treat her more seriously.  Perhaps part of her believes that if she were a wildborn, they would.  Nightshade has a close relationship with both her sire and dam (both on circuit duty), and keeps in mental contact with them whenever possible. She also loves music, and has a secret crush on the dashing songster Vertigo. She has just recently started to write her own music. Nightshade's power is the ability to create a globe of darkness, up to 20 feet across, totally blinding anyone within. She can center this globe onto one creature so that wherever they go, the dark globe moves with them, and can also adjust the intensity of the darkness - from moonlit to pitch black.  Each increasing intensity takes increasing levels of energy to maintain. An average fighter.
