The object of this contest is for the participants to round a course, clear all the obstacles and do it as fast as possible. The base unit is a human - unicorn pair, in case a pair of mere friends compete against bondeds they get some discount on the time. Use of magic is strictly forbidden and both the human and the unicorn has to have passed the finishing 'gate', in between two marks, to have finished their race.
To crown a winning pair the judges first sum up the number of faults they've done on the course - if there is a draw, the finishing time is compared.
Common obstacles are ordinary jumps, things to balance on and crawl under, rings and balls to pick up and place in a basket or on a pillar. The course is reflecting the imagination of the creators, one year it included four buoys to swim around - of course it was freezing cold and rained all the time. Some years, the gate race has been done as a masquerade and there has been a price for the best costume. Sometimes it has been held as a relay race with several pairs in each team.
The games are quite popular, also some of the teachers and finished roug use to participate. To win this contest, which is held one or two times a year, is considered quite a high honour among the students.
