Taniquel is a slender, graceful woman, close to 20 years old, rather old to be admitted to the Academy. She has frittered most of her life away as a dilettante in the high society of Rin Caad. Then she saw her first unicorn: "a magnificent black stallion with a single horn spiralling from his forehead." As trite as she knew it was from singing countless songs in which a person's life is changed by a single, pivotal moment she suddenly had a purpose in life.

Taniquel is quick rather than strong and likes to play music and sing songs. In fact, she apprenticed as a Bard with Master Andath recently. She has a ready wit and a somewhat mischievous sense of humor. She has a temper but usually hides it. She can play the role of young lethargic noble or mimic others to amuse her friends. She has now left that life behind her and is struggling to fit into the life of the Uen Roug in training and hoping her instructors don't realize they made a terrible mistake and send her home to a life that would now be meaningless.

Mirage

A charismatic and charming stallion, Mirage is a flashy lady's man and born leader with style and flash to spare....literally. Probably one of the most strikingly colored stallions on campus, Mirage's coat is a glowing metallic/pearlescent color in the light that is so radiant it's often hard to look at. Most of the scholars believe that it's a direct effect of his talent: that of mirage, or that of creating shimmery, bleary, heat illusion that, although lacking the substantiality of a true illusion, has a certain mad compelling quality that true illusion doesn't. Despite his outward peacock behavior, however, Mirage has a secretly insecure side and is very uncomfortable in one on one relationships as he is a little fearful to bear his true self. A "thrust and parry", derring-do sort of fighter who employs many of the fancier, fencing type moves in battle prep classes.
