Tengu

Intro Bio

Tengu was found in the wilderness, at the age of three, by Heron; a wandering ranger. Having no children of her own, and no way to get the child back to its parents, she took care of the waif as her own.

During the following nine years Heron taught Tengu how to survive in the wilderness. The lad proved to be bright & was a quick study. Tengu proved to be an apt, though unorthodox, pupil. He learned how to hunt, fish, track, tell the time by the sun, chart weather by the wind & clouds, and many other things.

The elder woman also taught the boy to fight like the animals he shared the wild with. He learned to strike with the flexibility of the snake, to attack with the fierceness of the tiger, and move with the grace of the crane. Heron taught Tengu to fight with whatever came to hand, and more importantly, when not to fight. Because of his training at the ranger's knee, Tengu has grown strong and straight (6' 180lbs). He continues to work his body to keep its tone.

Three years ago Heron took ill. To speed her recovery she brought Tengu into the city of Pallanhade, and consulted with several healers. She sent the boy to various shops for items she required to create a cure for herself. In the course of these errands Tengu had many adventures and learned the ways of the streets & townsfolk.

One day Tengu came back to their rooms to find Heron gone. She left word for him to stay in Pallanhade & make her proud. Heron had recovered and could no longer stand to stay in the closed places of the city. The ranger had longed to be in the open wild spaces, so she had left. Because she loved the boy, Heron asked him to find his place in the world. He had learned all she could teach him, and she knew there was more out there to learn.

Tengu's mischievious ways and curious mind has kept him busy the last two years. The youngster has worked both sides of the law, changing sides as fortune & survival dictated. He continues to seek the answers to the puzzles life has given him. His past most of all. He considers Magick to be the greatest mystery.

Earlier this year Tengu applied to, and was accepted by, the Uen Roug Academy. He is now turning his talents and energy to becoming a Wyn.
