Turak

Second youngest of four brothers, Turak grew up in the countryside near Lake Briston. His father is a moderately prosperous land-owning farmer, whose fortunes are on an upturn due to his two older sons' marriages to the only daughter of the closest village's wealthiest merchant and a minor nobleman's favorite child and heir. His younger brother is a spoiled rotten brat, who is of course his mother's pride and joy. Turak spent much of his childhood alone, with his father's attention focused on his older brothers and his mother's on his younger. He wandered the countryside surrounding the farmstead and village whenever he could get away from the dreary chores that always seemed his lot in life to perform.

One autumn at the harvest festival when he was about 10, Turak entered the young men's archery contest on a whim. To everyone's (including his own) surprise he managed to win a spot in the finals, beating out several older boys. For a brief time, he managed to capture his father's attention. Desperate for more of the same, Turak spent every waking moment he could practing with the bow. He became very good, and regularly won the young men's contest and placed well in the adult's. Turak was enjoying life, and had more time to himself as his younger brother grew up and began to take a share of the chores. Unfortunately, it didn't last for very long. In late summer of the year Turak turned 14, the talk of the village was whether
or not he had a chance to finally win the archery contest after coming within one shot of doing so the previous year. The younger sister of the current champion did not want to see her older brother disgraced and convinced her daughter to lead Turak on. After being ignored in favor of his brothers by all the girls for years, Turak became infatuated with the young woman. When she broke it off the night before the contest, Turak was so crushed and in despair that he couldn't even come close to the target from the shortest distance. With his parents' attention focused on the preparations of his older brothers' weddings anyway, Turak was all alone again.

He resumed his wanderings of the countryside and spent more time away from home. In one of the outlying villages, he saw an Uen Roug for the very first time. In awe of this magnificant pair, he noticed the great respect that the entire population had for them, and made a decision. "If I was an Uen Roug, everyone would want MY attention!" he thought to himself, "I'd be the most respected person in my family for sure then." After speaking with the Uen Roug, he left immediately for Pallahade and sought admittance to the Academy.

Now, at 16, Turak is a very ordinary looking young man, about 5' 10" with dark brown hair and eyes, rough skin and is stocky. He's not in the greatest of shape, but has very powerful arms and legs. When he plants his feet, knocking him down would be like trying to push over a wall. He has a very serious staring expression almost all the time, it especially hardens when he's aiming and shooting at something, but softens up whenever a woman talks to him (which has been rarely in the past). He doesn't small-talk and says exactly what he is thinking.

Spirit

A quiet and gentle stallion, especially for a wild-born, Spirit was driven from his herd because of his radical sympathies towards humans and the Uen Roug, especially considering his station. Spirit was the keeper of the histories of his herd, a storyteller and historian, chosen for that position because of his talent: that of conversing with ancestor "ghosts" in the Netherealm. Spirit was was probably the most promising historian the herd had ever had, far more precocious than his father (who died before his birth) had been at his age. He can, however, only contact "ghosts" of his own bloodline, and sometimes cannot establish contact at all. Usually mild mannered and kind, though has been known to erupt on very rare occasions. Spirit is known for his eloquence and valiant fighting ability.

STATS: 16h, male, black/white overo pinto, wild-born in 106 ADT.
