Unicorns mate when they are fully mature - generally when they are in
an older age group.
It is unsafe for a young mare to breed before her legs have become
strong enough to
support the heavy burden through the 11 month gestation period.
They are not a highly fertile species and it is quite common that a
pairing does not
produce offspring for many years after the pair become mates.
Even then, they may
only produce one foal. Twins are not common and large families
from one pairing
are very rare indeed.
Their is a rare circumstance that occurs called a 'Tri-Bond' or a '
Quartet'. It's the *very* rare
Bonding that takes place between two Roug pairs who are also mated.
