It is early morning at "NEW DAYS" Centre. We pan the interior of the centre and see Alex and Craig putting up a banner while directing some guys where to put balloons at the same time. We pan over to the juice bar where Eve is talking to James. They are smiling and laughing with each other. Eve motions to him that she will be just a minute. As he nods she walks over to where Alex is descending from the ladder.

Eve - Hey! Do you have a minute?

Alex - Sure. What about?

Eve - It's about James

Alex - Yeah! You and James are looking pretty friendly! Are you going to ask him join you at the party tonight?

Eve - That's what I wanted to talk to you about! Should I ask or am I being too forward?

Alex - Go for it! It's a great opportunity to get to know him better. And really, its the perfect day for it!

Eve - (confused)I don't get it. What's so special about this day?

Cut to a radio alarm clock going off. The radio announcer speaks

Radio D.J. - And a happy Vale . . . .

We see a hand slam down on the radio shutting it off. We see the mid section of a man as he sits up in bed. He stands up and we hear him grumbling and moaning

We cut to see his feet walk past. We pan up a wall and see a calendar. February 14 is circled on the calendar in red

We now cut to a mirror and see a familiar face scowling into it. We pan out to see that this man has angel like wings

Cupid - I hate Valentines Day!!

We cut to a big pent house suite. Cupid is in his traditional gear and he his strapping on his arrows. He grabs his crossbow. He looks into the mirror and gives his hair one last fluff. He tries to smile but his expression sinks into a scowl

Cupid - This is the worst day of the year!

Cupid walks over to his balcony window and opens it wide. He steps out on to the balcony of his pent house apartment. His wings spread out and he jumps off the balcony to fly over New York City.

Cut to the centre people are walking about mostly hugging and kissing and giving presents. James, Eve, Alex and Craig are over by the bar

Alex - Look at them. All this love sick crap.

Craig - Why are you throwing a party then?

Alex - To cash in! Like Hallmark. We all know Valentine's Day was created as an excuse to sell more cards

Craig - It's a feast day honoring a Christian martyr named Saint Valentine who performed weddings for Christian soldiers who were forbidden to marry.

Alex - (sarcastic)Thank you professor.

Craig - You're just bitter because you don't have a boyfriend to celebrate with.

Alex - Shut up. Besides, I am right. It may have meant something once but now its a stupid commercial holiday. I bet Cupid is rolling over in his grave

Craig - I don't think Cupid died at twilight! Do gods even have graves?

Eve looks to Alex and Craig shocked at them speaking out loud about Gods in front of James

Alex- (shrugs) Details

To Eve's surprise James laughs out loud

James - You guys are weird! (looks to Eve) Hey, uh . . . are you going to the party tonight?

Eve - Well I live upstairs so I'll be here either way

James - I mean, are you going with anybody? Cause if you wanted to go with someone and you're not going with anyone, I could be that someone who could escort you to the dance even if you only live upstairs. You know, if you want.

Eve - Was that the long winded way of asking me out?

James - Is that a yes?

Eve- (smiles) Yes

James and Eve smile at each other and Alex and Craig look on at this cute picture. Alex smiles but Craig gets cautious

Alex - Aww that's sweet!

Craig - Do you think this is a good idea?

Alex elbows Craig in the stomach and he doubles over clutching his stomach in pain

Alex - (smile still plastered to her face) Shut up Craig.

Craig scowls at Alex while rubbing the sore spot on his stomach. We pan around the centre and through the window to just outside.

Cut to outside the Centre as Cupid lands

Cupid -(looking around) I guess this is a good a place as any to scout for future couples. It seems like a lively place. (sees all the decorations inside) Aww a Valentines Day dance . . .Gross.

Cupid looks inside. At the far end of the centre near the bar he sees Eve and James. Cupid does not recognise Eve. He sees them talking and looking very friendly.

Cupid - (sighs) Potential couple 12 o clock. I guess I better do my thing

Cupid opens up the window slightly and aims the crossbow at Eve. He shoots the arrow

Cut to arrow as we follow it as it shoots into Eve's arm and vanishes into sparkles. Eve looks at her arm and rubs her arm a bit wondering what she felt. Eve then looks at James and falls madly in love. Eve smiles and grabs James by the shirt and kisses him passionately.

COMMERCIAL

Alex and Craig hear a slight mumbling from James and look up to see Eve kissing him passionately. Their eyes widen and their mouths drop open.

James pulls away from the kiss gasping for air

James - Wow!!

Eve - Oh James! I'm soooo happy you asked me to the dance. We're going to be soooo happy together. You know this is a day of love don't you? It was planned to happen this way! It's destiny!

Eve jumps into James' arms and hugs him tightly. James just stands there stunned then begins to make choking noises

James - Eve, I'm losing air

Eve let's go quickly and lets James catch his breath

We pan back over to Alex and Craig and their mouths are still hanging open. Craig then shakes his head and cringes slightly.

Craig - Whoa. That turned really fast

Alex - Ya Think!

Craig - You might want to talk to Eve about toning it down a little bit. Maybe try playing hard to get.

Alex - Oh, that ship has sailed.

Cut to outside where Cupid stands there looking into the window at the centre. He rolls his eyes

Cupid - Yuck!! Talk about sappy. But I'm right on target as usual.

Cupid blows over his cross bow and loads another arrow in. He now aims in at James

Cupid - Now it's your turn loverboy!

Cupid shoots the arrow. We follow this arrow the same as we did the last one. We follow it right into James' arm. James looks down at his forearm and James scratches it a bit. As he does this, Eve accidentally knocks a glass off the counter. In slow motion, as she bends down to pick up the glass, James looks back and his eyes settle upon . . .Alex

Eve gets up and James pushes her out of the way and walks straight over to Alex

Eve - James!?

James - Alex, have I told you how beautiful you look today?

Cut to the window where Cupid is looking in from the outside. His mouth drops open

Cupid - Ooops!

Cut back to inside the centre

James - You are the most beautiful creature I have ever laid eyes upon

Alex - What!?

Eve - James?!!

James - Come with me to the party tonight!!

Alex - You know, I really don't like to repeat myself but, WHAT?!!

Eve- James, what about me? I thought we were supposed to go together

James - You're way to sappy sister. Someone needs to hose you down(turns back to Alex) But you and me, we can make beautiful music together

Alex - Have you lost your mind?

James - What mind? I can't think anymore

Craig - I'll buy that

James - When you're around Alex, all logic is erased from my mind. My heart is what screams out

Alex - Then tell it to shut up. (walks away from the bar)

James - Alex, how can you say that?(follows her)

Alex - (voice off screen) EASILY!!

Eve sits down at the bar

Eve - Oh

Craig comes over to her and hands her a glass of juice

Eve - How could this happen?

Craig - Well, you did pour it on kinda thick Eve. What's gotten into you?

Eve - Me? What about James?

Craig looks over to James. He is on his knees crawling after Alex who is trying to whack him away with a clip board

Craig - Okay, something weird is going on

Eve - OH NO!

Craig - (looks back to Eve) What!

Eve - (in a whiney voice)This is the juice that James made me the first day he started working here

Craig slaps his hand to his forehead and drags it down his face

We cut over to where Alex is. She is signing a delivery and James comes up behind her

James - Hi

Alex - AHH!! James!! (starts hitting him with another clipboard) Will you knock it off?

James - Ow! But . .Ow! I can't OW! I love you! OW!!

Delivery Guy - Excuse me, I'm going to need that clipboard back

Alex - Sorry (hands guy the clip board)

Cut to outside where Cupid is

Cupid - Okay don't panic . Minor set back. Fine, I'll just make that tough girl fall in love with that guy and we'll call it a day. Yeah. That sounds good!

Cupid loads another arrow into his cross bow

Alex walks over to the wall and tightens the rope that is holding up the banner

James - You still haven't answered my question. Will you go to the dance with me?

Alex - What are you 12? No! Why don't you ask Eve? Weren't you going with her in the first place?

James - Eve? why?

Alex shakes her head and puts her hand up to cease the conversation

Alex - You know what? Never mind. Forget it!

Slow motion. We close in on Alex's head. As she turns away an arrow goes flying past her head and into the rope that is holding up the banner

Alex stops for a second then turns back to James

Alex - What was that?

James - The beating of my heart?

Alex - No no no. Something just whizzed past my head

Cut to where the arrow got stuck in the rope. The arrow vanished into sparkles and leaves a big hole in the rope. The rope breaks

Cut back to Alex and James just as the banner falls over them

Alex - (voice muffled) Okay, something is definitely wrong here.

Cut to Eve and Craig. Eve is sitting down nursing the juice. Craig is just looking at Eve shaking his head

Craig - Eve, I brought you that drink so you could drink it

Eve-(holds drink up to Craig) No! Don't you see? This is the only thing I have left of him

Craig - I really thought Alex was kidding when she said you get over dramatic.

Alex walks over to Craig, James following closely behind. Eve starts dancing with her drink in the background behind the bar

Alex - Craig I think . . . (James bumps into the back of Alex when she stopped suddenly) Ooff (Alex turns around) Would you stop that!!(turns back to Craig) There's something really weird going on.

Craig - No kidding. Eve is treating that drink like a holy relic

Alex looks at Eve cherishing and carressing her drink. Alex shakes her head

Alex - Yeah . . . well that included. But think about it for a second. You said it yourself, Eve turned fast. She went from being shy and uncertain to dripping with love in a spilt second. And James, first he was all for Eve now he's . . . (James starts stroking Alex's arm) . . .He's touching me!! STOP IT!!(James backs off scared)

Cut to out side Cupid looking upon this scene.

Cupid - Oh this is not good. Not good! In fact this is bad, very bad. Alright, we'll try it one more time.

Cupid watches as Eve sits down. And Craig tries to put some distance between Alex and James. They are in a line. Eve, James, Craig then Alex.

Cupid - Okay, they are all lined up. All I have to do is shoot this one arrow at the blond guy and he falls in love with the girl with the long brown hair. How it should have been in the first place!

Cupid loads another arrow.

We cut to the viewpoint of the arrow being aimed at James's right arm. The arrow is shot and we see it swerving to avoid hitting other people. Slow motion. Just as the arrow is about to hit James. James takes Craig's arm and pulls him out of the way to stand by Alex.

The arrow shoots in to Craig's chest and vanishes into sparkles. Eve begins to cry. Craig looks at Eve. He falls madly in love

Craig - Eve don't cry. It's okay. I love you

Cut to outside. Cupid slaps his forehead

Cupid - DOH!!

COMMERCIAL

Craig - Eve! (moves into hug her)

Eve - (recoils back) What are you doing?

Craig - Eve, I love you

Eve - What?!

Alex - What?!

Craig - I love you Eve

Eve - But I love James

James - But I love Alex

Alex - Oh no you don't!!!

Craig walks to James and pushes him

Craig - How dare you play with her emotions! Making Eve cry like that!

Alex - (Grabs Craig and pulls him away) Craig, don't.

James - What about you? You have Alex's affection

Alex - Wait a minute! What? He doesn't have my affection.

Eve - James, I love you

James - Leave me alone

Craig - Oh that's it! (pushes Alex away) I will fight you for Eve's love

James - (pushes him) You will never get away with Alex's love. I will have her!

Alex - I've had just about enough of this!

Craig grabs James by the collar and pushes him down to the gym area. James falls on his stomach. He stands up and takes off his shirt and Craig does the same. The people gather around and start yelling, egging the both of them on.

People - FIGHT! FIGHT ! FIGHT!

Craig and James begin to dodge and wield blows

Alex and Eve look upon the fight from the bar area

Alex - Eve we've got to stop this! They're going to tear each other apart

Eve - Come on James! Hit him!! Yeah!! Win this one for me Babe!!!!

Alex -(looks to Eve astonished) What the hell?!! What is going on?!!!

Alex looks back to James as he delivers a mean right hook to Craig's jaw. He falls back to the ground. Eve jumps up and down excited

Eve - Whooo!!! YEAH!

Alex - (shakes her head) Oh my . . .

Alex looks over to the window and squints. She's not sure what she sees but slowly comes to recognise the wings and relises Cupid is standing right outside

Alex - God of love!

Alex looks at Cupid keeping her eyes on him as he is shaking his head looking at the mess he created. Alex edges slowly toward the door. Cupid makes a move to leave. Alex, seeing this, breaks into a run and runs out of the Centre.

Cut to outside.

Cupid - I think I better split

Cut to Alex outside the centre. She runs around to the side where Cupid materialised to the roof.

Alex - Hey!!

Alex runs over to a tree and quickly climbs up and uses her god like strength to jump the rest of the way to the top of the centre on the roof.

Cut to the roof. Cupid is about to take off

Alex - Hold it Fly Boy!!

Cupid stops and turns around shocked

Cupid - You can see me? How can you see me? You're just a mortal!

Alex - Wrong again! I've got some God in me too.

Cupid - Impossible!

Alex - I don't have the time to fill you in the story. There's a mess down there and I think you're behind it

Cupid - Who are you?

Alex - (sighs and rolls her eyes) Persephone and Evander's daughter

Cupid - (looks closer at her) Yeah. You do kinda look like Persephone! Hey! We're kinda like cousins!

Alex - Brilliant deduction! Now let me make one of my own. You have something to do with the madness going on down there.

Cupid - (gets indignant) It's not my fault. You all keep moving. If you'd just stay in one spot you wouldn't be in this mess!

Alex - Maybe you should stay out of other people's love lives

Cupid - People expect me to be in their love lives, espessially on this day! Love is my business

Alex - So do your job and fix this?

Cupid - I messed up. Me! Cupid! I make matches not mess them up. It's embarrassing.

Alex - Are you kidding me?

Cupid - Besides, why should I fix things?

Alex - Because you messed up!! DUH!!

Cupid- You mortals did this! You turned it into a commercialised day. Love can't be bought or tied up with bows and ribbons. Love comes from inside. Its pure and it comes with trust and caring. I don't make matches so people can get shiny rocks . . . or get their rocks off

Alex - Gross

Cupid - The love is already there. I just open their eyes to it. But its changed. Everything's changed! It would really show people who's the boss of love if I did mess things up. Maybe then people would realize love isn't about showing it one day of the year

Alex - Hate to burst your bubble Cupe, but most people don't think you actually exist. And as much as I hate to admit it, as commercialized as this day is, for a lot of people its not just about what you can get out of it. People these days just don't have the time to show their loved ones how much they mean to them. They use this day to celebrate love. And for some of us its a day to remind us how much work love actually takes!

Cupid - I just make people see what's already there. Lasting love does take work.

Alex - Why don't you just do what you used to. Make people fall in love when it's right. Then you can take Valentines day off and appreciate the work you've done.

Cupid- (thinks about it for a moment) That doesn't sound like a bad idea. I'd love to get my passion for this kind of work back. (nods) Yeah today I'll just let things be.

Alex - Right! There you go!

Cupid - (nods his head) Yeah!! Thanks Cuz! Well I'm off! See ya!!

Heads to the ledge to take off but Alex grabs him by the wing

Alex - Not so fast. First you're going to fix the mess you made.

Cupid - Ahhhh! Way not Fair! Hmph!!!

Cupid begins to sulk and stomps his foot

Alex - (looks at him disgusted) Now I know why you're portrayed as a big baby.

Cut to inside the centre. James punches Craig in the stomach. Craig doubles over for a minute then delivers an upper cut to James's chin sending him on his butt. He gets up and tackles Craig but Craig holds his own.

Alex and Cupid enter the centre and Cupid sees Eve and recognises her for the first time.

Cupid - Hey! I know that chick!

Alex - Forget her for now! First, bring those two out of it before they kill each other!

Alex points to Craig and James who have each other in a head lock.

Cupid - Sure. You want to break it up?

Alex walks down to where they are fighting and pulls them out of the head lock

Alex - Alright boys, that's enough!!

Craig doesn't listen and goes to tackle James but Alex punches him and sends him flying back then turns around and does the same thing to James.

Alex - Alright people! Show's over, nothing to see here.

Alex pushes all the people away and they go back to what ever they were doing before the fight

Cupid walks over to Alex. As James gets up, Cupid moves his hand across his face. James shakes his head slightly as Eve runs down to hug him

James-(smiles) Hey! How's it going Eve? Oh man, my head. I don't know what came over me (sees Craig getting up) Craig! I'm sorry!

Craig - I'm not

Craig goes to tackle James again but as Craig runs forward Cupid just lifts his hand over Craig's face and Craig stops short. He shakes his head

Craig - What am I saying? Hey, I'm sorry too. What happened? I'm acting like a complete jerk

Craig and James shake hands but Eve is still holding on to James

Eve - You won!!!

Alex - (whispers to Cupid)Her too

Cupid - But she actually likes him

Alex - (still whispering) Let her experience love on her own terms. After the trouble you've caused, she deserves that.

Cupid - Oh fine.(waves a hand over Eve's face)

Eve realizes she is hugging James a little too tightly and lets go abruptly

Eve - James . . . I . . I don't know what's going on. I'm . . I'm so sorry!

James - Hey don't be. I kinda liked it

Eve smiles and blushes

Alex - That's it? You just wave a hand and the love is gone

Cupid - (shrugs) Easy come, easy go

Craig - Alex, who are you talking to?

Alex remembers that they can't see Cupid

Alex - Uh . . . no one. Forget it.

Eve - Alex, sometimes, you can act very strange.

Eve Craig and James walk away

Alex - That's nothing compared to what just went on today. Thanks to Cupids little arrow.

COMMERCIAL

Alex stands at the bar over looking the dance at the centre in the evening. Cupid walks over to her. Only Alex can see him.

Cupid - Nice little shindig you got going on. People seem to be in love. And I didn't have to do a thing. You know, I think I'm going to like taking this day off. I can see my work all year around taking shape on this day.

Alex - Well there is nothing worse then a disgruntled matchmaker, so maybe it is for the best

Cupid - Thanks. Maybe someday there will be a way I can repay you.

Alex - What's that's supposed to mean?

Cupid - Ohhh I don't know. It might mean nothing at all. Later Cuz (dematerialises out of the centre in a poof of sparkles)

Alex smiles a little and shakes her head and sees a single red rose fall in front of her face. She turns to see Craig just standing there holding it out for her

Craig - For you.

Alex - (takes the rose) What's this for?

Craig - For just being you (gives Alex a light kiss on the cheek)

Alex watches Craig as he walks off to talk to some of his other friends. Alex closes her eyes and smiles. Then her eyes snap open in shock. She begins hitting her self in the head

Alex - No, No, No! Out, Out, Out. Out of there. I am so not thinking about Craig right now.(sighs) Whoa, I just hope Eve is doing better then I am.

We pan away from Alex and move though a door it leads to the backroom.

We manoeuvre around a shelf and see James and Eve locked together in a passionate kiss.
