Scene from "Old Friends New Beginnings"
Kevin - sticks out his hand to shake)I'm Kevin.
Alex and Craig look at each other with curious looks then back to Eve and Kevin
Eve - (shakes his hand a little confused) Eve.

Out of nowhere a demon pops up behind the bench Kevin was laying on. It jumps out to try and attack Kevin. Kevin screams but before the demon has a chance to attack Ares throws a sphere of blue fire engulfing the demon. The demon screams and growls and sprawls around on the ground in pain before nothing is left but ashes. Kevin stops screaming but looks up panting and breathing heavily clearly frightened
Kevin - WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!!!!
Eve - Kevin wait!Calm down!
Kevin - (looks to Eve really scared and points to her) FREAK (points to Ares) FREAKS!! JUST STAY AWAY FROM ME!!

Scene from "Let's Talk About It"
James - You know, what really hurts in all this is that I don't know if you were with me for me or if you've been with me all this time because I remind you of Virgil.
Eve - Wait James . . .
James - Stop! Just stop. I'm not him Eve. I can't be him, I can only be me and I don't think that's what you want.
James walks out of the centre. Eve runs up to the door that leads out to the hall. Realizing she may have lost him Eve leans against the door frame and puts her head back. She takes a deep breath closing her eyes.
Fade to Black

Open with a pan across some city streets in New York city. Pan over to the centre. Fade to inside the Centre in the late morning

The television is on and Alex is all over the place trying to open the centre. She is looking very annoyed going through inventory and cash. As Craig walks in Alex slams the till on the counter

Craig - Hey! Are you ever going to open? It's after nine. There are people waiting and they're getting pissed!

Alex - No. You know why? Because Eve didn't close properly last night and I have to open by myself with everything unorganized. And on top of all that, when I went upstairs to drag her butt out of bed I find she's not even there!

Craig - She must still be upset over James.

Alex - She needs to get over it already!

Craig - Alex!

Alex - Well! She's been like this for the past week. Moping about just because she got dumped!

Craig - Well, I suppose you wouldn't know what it feels like since you're the one usually doing the dumping.

Alex- Right, this coming from the guy who hasn't had a stable relationship in nearly eight years

We hear whistles coming from outside and in walks Eve. Her hair is shorter now, layered just above her shoulders, with red streaks.

Alex and Craig mouths drop open as their eyes widen

Alex - Where the hell have you been? And what the hell did you do to your hair?!

Eve - I wanted to try something different, more modern. You don't like it?

Alex - You went all "Felicity" on your hair!

Eve - (disregarding the modern analogy) I'm just trying to move on and let go.

Alex - (looks at her unbelieving) Oh please!(to Eve) You just want to convince James that you've let go of who he was in the past so he'll go out with you again! We told you this would lead to hurt, we tried to warn you something like this could happen! But apparently we're just alone and miserable!

Craig - Speaking of letting things go . . .

Alex - Shut up!!

Eve - (sighs) I'm sorry about what I said to you two. I didn't mean that.

Craig - Look Eve, (gestures to her new look) all this is not going to help you let go. You know that facing your issues and working through it helps you let go. I know you're upset about James but is there something more going on?

Eve - I just feel very alone. I've always felt alone. Mother and Gabrielle always had each other to turn to. Like you. You two have each other.

Craig - You have us too

Eve - I feel like a third wheel. I'm a person out of time. Maybe at first I wanted to be with James because he was a connection to my past but being with him I finally felt like I belonged in the here and now. James just made me realize I have to put the past where it belongs. I can't let it haunt me anymore and this is a step in the . . . .(Eve fades off as she sees the news report on television)

Alex and Craig turn around to the T.V. Alex turns it up

Reporter voice - Kevin Matthews was released yesterday morning from the Psyche ward in New York after being committed by friends and family in September after being arrested for creating a disturbance and obstructing justice. Several months ago he came running into the street screaming and claiming demons attacked him.

Scenes of Kevin being arrested and then being released from the ward.

Reporter voice - We caught up with Mr. Matthews yesterday.

Cut to on the television with Kevin walking through the crowd of reporters with a blank expression on his face.

Reporter - Mr Matthews is it true you were sent here because of your claim of seeing demons?

Kevin - (smiles in a creepy way and speaks in an eerily calm voice) Demons? There is no such thing as demons

Cut to Centre

Eve - (watching the news report) Kevin! It's Kevin! I knew I shouldn't have left him. I should have helped him!

Craig - You did. You guys got attacked and you saved his life. He just couldn't handle it. He tried to convince other people of what goes on out there. He got himself into that situation.

Eve - If it wasn't for me he would never have been in that situation.

Alex - With the way demons roam the streets nowadays he would have been attacked eventually and the exact same thing would have happened. And if not him it would have been someone else. People are content when they're in denial. They don't like to think there are things beyond their realm of understanding. When they're confronted with it, they freak. That's what happened with Kevin! That's not your fault, you tried to protect him!

Eve - I rushed right into something without even thinking of the consequences. I wanted so bad to be apart of this time, I thought I could I forget who I was. I thought I'd have a clean slate here and I just end up ruining lives just like in the past. First Kevin now James.

Alex - Kevin's a jerk. He would have got his ass handed to him sooner or later and if not by a demon definitely by me. But he went to the nut house, now he's out and back in denial where he belongs. All's right in the world . . .sort of.

Craig - Alex!

Eve - Thanks a bunch!

Alex - Well hello! You're not even listening to me. Kevin is not a problem anymore

Eve - But what about James?

Alex - (throws her hands up in frustration)And here we are again!

Craig - We know you're upset Eve and we understand (looks to Alex and sighs) Well I understand but this is the life we lead, relationships don't work in this type of life.

Eve - (sighs) I know. I guess it just wasn't meant to be

James - (voice) Maybe it is

Pan over past Eve and we see James standing in the doorway. Eve turns around

James - Hi

Eve - Hi

Alex - You're late

Craig - Alex!

Alex - What!

James - Can we talk? . . . . Alone.

Eve - (looks to Alex and Craig and nods)Yeah . . . sure. Do you want to go upstairs?

Alex and Craig watch them exit to the backroom

Alex - (calls out) This extra time is coming out of your pay!

Craig - ALEX!

Alex - WHAT!

Cut to Eve's apartment. There are clothes thrown all over the floor and the place is a mess. Eve opens the door and James comes in behind her. Her eyes widen in sight of the mess. She begins to pick a few things up, embarrassed at the mess.

Eve - I uh . . . uh . . . I've just been really busy the last few days. I haven't had much time for cleaning

James - (laughs) It's okay. My apartment is like this all the time!

Eve - (smiles a bit) I know (realizes she still has clothes in her hands and throws them in her room and closes the door then gestures to the couch) Would you like to sit down?

James sits down on the couch then stands up

James - Eve, I'm sorry

Eve - What?

James - I had to get that out. I'm sorry.

Eve - I'm the one who should be saying that.

James - (sighs and tried to gather his thoughts) I still have these visions. They freak me out sometimes but it also feels right somehow, like I was meant to have them. I see you often and what you do for people and I realize what I said to you was way out of line.

Eve - No, it wasn't. You were right to say those things.

James - I have visions of the past as well. You really loved Virgil didn't you?

Eve - Yes and no. I did love him but there were things that I did to him that could have never let us be together. And in light of my destiny here, Virgil and I just weren't meant to be.

James - Did you think you could have something with Virgil through me?

Eve - (shakes her head) You look like Virgil, you sound like him but you are different from him. There are things about you and only you that I love so much

James - I thought you were just using me

Eve - In a way I was. I've been really homesick lately. You look so much like Virgil and I grabbed on to that because it was a little piece of home, it made my homesickness bearable.

James - 2000 years from home, I can't really blame you.

Eve - But somewhere along the line though I forgot about the past and started embracing wonderful possible futures and it was when ever I was with you. You made me see I have to live in the now and let go of the past. And the now is definitely worth being in especially when I'm with you.

James - (smiles) That's good to know.

Eve - I'm sorry I made you feel like didn't I care for you. I do and I'm sorry it took me so long to tell you. . . about everything

James - I understand why you didn't. But maybe we can start forgetting the past, our past, and live in the now like you said. (takes Eve's hand) I'd like to give us another shot.

Eve - (smiles and nods)Destiny does come to pass in strange ways.

James - So Messenger of Eli huh?

Eve - Yeah, that's another long story

James - You'll have to tell me sometime. (sees Eve hesitate) Don't worry I won't tell anyone. Oh and Eve . . .

Eve - Yeah?

James - I like your hair.

Cut to downstairs in the centre. Alex is by herself now but the centre is open and people are starting to come in. From Alex's pov. We are seeing the resumes she is looking at and one is put down on top of them. She hears a familiar voice

Voice - I'm here about a job

We pan up from Alex's pov and see Kevin.

Alex - AHHHH!

Kevin - Hey! Whoa! calm down. And people call me crazy. (looks at her for a moment confused) Hey, do I know you?

Alex - (shakes her head) No no no no. You don't know me

Kevin - Saw me on the news huh? Look, I'm better now. Don't worry about it.

Alex - Worried, Ha! Who's worried! . . . So you wanted a job huh?(takes the resume) I'm sorry to inform you that all we have right now is an opening for a janitor

Kevin - I'm looking for anything right now. I need some money until I can get re admitted in to NYU

Alex - (nods still looking nervous) Really.

Kevin - Hey wait a second! I do know you. You're Alex (eyes glaze over voice becomes calm) Is Eve here?

Alex - um . . .

We hear voices coming from the backroom. It's Eve and James. They walk out

James - A time transferring spell? Sounds complicated

Eve - Hey, I don't know how it works, it just . . .

Kevin - Eve

Eve stops short the smile is gone from her face and she turns her head to see Kevin

Eve - Kevin!

James - Who's this guy?

Kevin - (gets a scared crazy look on his face)YOU! (points at Eve and tries to scamper away he falls. Eve tries to help him up as does Alex) NO NO NO!! STAY AWAY FROM ME (Everybody is looking at Kevin he turns to Everyone) FREAKS THEY ARE FREAKS!!!(runs away)

Alex - Oh that can't be good

Fade to the centre later on when Alex walks back up to the bar area from where a big group of people are just starting to scatter away.

Alex - Okay I finally got everyone calmed down. That guy is going to bad for business. He really is nuts!

Eve - What was he doing here?

Alex - Looking for a job

James - Would someone like to tell me what's going on here?

Eve looks away from him but he grabs her arm

James - Don't keep things from me. Not now

Eve - (sighs) Kevin is a guy I went out with a few months ago.

Alex - Just after she got here in fact

Eve - We went on one date and got attacked by demons.

Alex - And he freaked out.

James - Kevin? The guy on the news that went crazy.

Alex - It wasn't her fault!

James - I believe you!!

Eve takes a deep breath and lets it out slowly

Alex - He probably convinced himself you weren't real along with demons. Seeing you brought back all those things he was trying to repress. I suggest you stay low for a little while. He's a walking time bomb about to go off any minute.

Cut to NYU. Craig's class is just ending and people are leaving. Kevin walks in. Craig has his back to him. Craig turns around and sees Kevin. He gets a startled look in his face then regains his composure

Craig - Kevin! I didn't see you there.

Kevin-(eerily calm voice) Hello Mr. Summers

Craig - How are you feeling?

Kevin - I'm fine. I'd be even better if people would stop asking me that

Craig - (being cautious) What are you doing here?

Kevin - Oh I just came to see if I had been re admitted. So I thought I would go in and check up on my favourite teacher Mr. Summers. Mr. Summers, a teacher of ancient religions and civilizations

Craig - It's called history

Kevin - (walks over and picks up a book and leaf's through it) Ah yes history. We all have history don't we? Even with people. You have a history with Eve. I have a history with Eve

Craig - (takes the book from him and puts it down on the desk) What about Eve?

Kevin - Oh nothing. Tell me Mr. Summers, what do you know about demons?

Craig - (being cautious)That they're mostly myth unless you're talking about inner demons, that's a whole different story.

Kevin - (picks up another book and reads the cover) Ancient Demons. You teach history and you have a books on "myth." Interesting. Well I think I'll just borrow this book. Perhaps I can make sure history doesn't repeat it's self

Kevin walks out of the classroom with the book. Craig gathers his stuff together and then runs out of the classroom

Cut to the Centre. Eve and Alex are at the counter.

Alex - I don't think you should go out tonight

Eve - James and I are going to keep on the down low. We just want some time to rebuild our relationship

Alex - Yes, you deserve a nice night out! But Kevin . . .

Eve - James knows about Kevin, he knows about my past and knows about demons. Maybe it's the visions but he's handling this with courage and clarity. I'm not going to hide away. I'm not going to let the past haunt me anymore.

Alex - Says the girl with the world's biggest guilt trip. I know New York is big and there's a hundred and one places you could hide out but you could bump into Kevin at any one of those places!

Eve - You said he wasn't a problem anymore

Alex - That's before he went psycho on the gym floor.

Craig runs in nearly out of breath

Craig - I think we've a big problem

Alex - Kevin's back and is pissed with Eve

Craig - How'd you know?

Alex - He came here in the morning looking for a job. He flipped out when he saw Eve.

Craig - Eve I think you should . . .

Eve - Lay low? I know.

Craig - No I think you should leave town for a while

Eve - Why?

Craig - I think he's going to try to hurt you. He came to see me in the afternoon. I don't think he's happy with being called crazy when what happened to him is real. He took a book from my classroom. I didn't realize it before but it was one of my personal books. There are spells to summon demons in there! You're in danger.

Eve - I thought spells couldn't be done by just anyone

Alex- They can't but this is a Crazy with a grudge!. He might even get himself into even more trouble.

Eve - How do we suggest we deal with this?

Craig and Alex think for a minute coming up with nothing.

Alex - Right now I got nothing

Eve - Then let's figure this out tomorrow.

Craig - But Eve . . .

Eve- But nothing! I am devoted to my cause and to this mission . Let me have this one night, these few precious moments with James where I'm not Livia of Rome or Eve the Messenger. I'm not Eve, daughter of Xena or Eve from the past! I'm just Eve. Tomorrow, I promise we'll figure something out.

Craig - You really want this don't you?

Eve - For tonight I'll be fine. I've dealt with war lords, devils and demons, gods and cult leaders. I don't think one guy is going to be much trouble.

Cut to an apartment room floor. It is dark. There are some candles lit illuminating books spread out across the floor. The books that are open have pictures of demons on them. We now here chanting. We pan over to Kevin. He is kneeling and is chanting in some strange language. He is kneeling in a circle made up of ashes as he is chanting the ashes turn into smoke and rise up and out the apartment window. He stops chanting and watches the smoke drift out the window. A smirk spreads across his face.

Kevin - Let's see if myth can stop history from repeating itself.

COMMERCIAL

Cut to the centre. James walks in with flowers. We see Eve walk up to him with a big smile on her face. He smiles back at her and gives her the flowers.

Eve - They're lovely. No one has given me flowers since . . . . since . . . . Kevin.

James frowns and Eve shoves the flowers into Alex's face

Eve - But let's not talk about him

James smiles

James - Right, this night is about us.(takes Eve by the hand)

They walk out of the centre. We pan over to Alex still holding the flowers in her hand. She sneezes

Cut to the street. It's night. Everything seems to be reminding her of Kevin. She walks along side James and they walk past the restaurant where her and Kevin had their first and only date.

James - Eve?

Eve - Huh?

James - You seem a little distracted

Eve - What, no!(looks up to the stars) I'm just thinking about the night. It so beautiful out but a little cold

James takes off his jacket and puts it around Eve. She smiles

James - I hope that's better. So for dinner I was thinking we could get a little take out. You know, from a fancy little Italian place. They can do it up in a tin foil swan.

Eve - NO! (regains composure)I mean . . . I'm not in the mood for Italian

James - Eve are you sure you're . . .

Just then Eve knocked down by a stranger in a dark coat. James's is coat is knocked off her on to the ground

James - Hey! Watch it!(helps Eve up) Are you okay?

Eve - (looks around her) This isn't right! It's just like . . . (sees a demon about to attack) James look out!!!

A green scaled demon jumps up and is about to land on James when Eve rips the side of her skirt open and does a roundhouse kick to send the demon flying back. It just bounces off the wall and jumps on Eve send her crashing to the ground. She is able to flip the demon off of her but it land on it's feet. Eve gets up and James runs over to help her. As the demon moves its hand to scratch Eve. James pushes her out of the way and he is scratched in the chest.

James - Ah!

Eve takes the demon by the head and snaps it's neck.

Eve - James ! (helps him up) Oh no you're hurt

James - It's okay. it's only a flesh wound. But I think I should take you home

Eve - No way! I'm taking you to a hospital

James -I'll be fine, I promise. Let me take you home

Eve helps James straighten up. After Eve picks up James' jacket she takes the handkerchief from him holds it to his wound

Cut to outside the centre Eve is looking at James's wound.

Eve - Well it's stopped bleeding but I want you to go to a hospital and get it checked for infection and get it bandaged right away

James - Yes ma'am!

Eve laughs and pushes James away slightly

James - (laughs a little them becomes serious)As long as you're safe here

Eve - I'll be fine. I'm worried about you though. I'm sorry our date was ruined

James - There will be plenty more. Don't worry about it

James gives Eve a light kiss on the lips and walks off. Eve watches him walk off then walks in to the centre still with his jacket on her arm. She sighs

Eve walks in and the lights are off but there is a slight illumination let in by the windows from the light out side. Eve is about to go up to her apartment when she hears a scurrying

Eve - Hello? Who's there?

Kevin(voice) - (we hear him loud and clear but he is no where to be seen) SHE LOVES ME . . .

Eve looks all around everywhere in the eating area. She can't see Kevin

Kevin (voice) SHE LOVES ME NOT!!

Eve runs down the gym area and looks all around the equipment. She still can't find Kevin

Kevin(voice) - SHE LOVES ME . . .

Eve runs in to some of the conference rooms she runs back out to the gym obviously she couldn't find him

Eve - Kevin!!Kevin there is no need for this !!!!

Eve runs in to the bathroom looking for him and not finding him. She is becoming really panicked now

Kevin(voice) - SHE LOVES ME NOT!!

Eve runs in to the back room

Kevin(voice) - SHE TRIED TO HAVE ME KILLED THEN GOT ME SENT TO AN ASYLUM . . .

We see Eve runs up the stairs clearly panicked

Kevin(voice) - SHE LOVES ME NOT!!

Eve gets in her apartment and locks the door behind her. She has her back to the rest of the apartment as she leans her forehead against the door takes few deep breaths. We pan out a little to see Kevin standing right behind her

Kevin - Hello lover

Eve turns around shocked

Kevin punches her right in the face knocking her out

COMMERCIAL

Kevin picks up an unconscious Eve and slams her against the door to wake her up. She groans and looks up at Kevin

Kevin -(sickly sweet baby voice) Oh, is poor Evie all sleepy after her date? Did you have fun or did demons ruin it all?

Eve - That was you in the trench coat? You knocked me down. Like on our first date . . . .Did you . . ?

Kevin - Send a demon to attack you? Maybe I did, but that's sort of impossible isn't it, since demons aren't real. Are they Eve?!? TELL ME THEY AREN'T REAL!!!

Eve winces at him yelling at her and he throws her on to the floor

Kevin - All I ever did was think about that night when we went out. The green scaled demon that attacked me. That lightening bolt that fried another demon. All I wanted to do was warn people. But they were frightened Eve. They were scared of me. OF ME! Do you know where they put me Eve? DO YOU?

Eve looks up at Kevin with sorrow in her face

Kevin - DON'T LOOK AT ME LIKE THAT. THEY LOCKED ME AWAY BECAUSE OF YOU. THEY THINK I'M CRAZY.

Eve (stands up) I'm sorry Kevin. I'm sorry that the person I am put you in danger. I should have realized you were not meant to handle this. But hurting me and hurting James and scaring people will not make anything better. It won't help.

Kevin - ! I lost months of my life thanks to you! I WANT THEM BACK! I'M GOING TO BE CRAZY FOREVER! NO ONE'S GOING TO LOOK AT ME AS NORMAL EVER AGAIN!

Eve - I wanted to help you that night, I still can if you let me. Please Kevin.

Kevin - NOOOOO!!!!(runs over to Eve and backhands her)

Cut to James. He is walking down the road. He shivers slightly and realizes Eve still has his coat. He turns around and goes back to the centre.

Cut back to Eve's apartment after Kevin backhands Eve. Eve looks back at Kevin unfazed.

Eve - Do you feel better?

Kevin - You don't get it do you? You ruined my life. You do that quite a bit don't you? I met Ronin. That guy who you sent to the psyche ward. Well he doesn't like you very much either

Eve - He was different and he was dangerous. It was his choice. Don't be like him Kevin. You have the power to change

Kevin - I know I have the power. I proved that on the little date you went on. I'm just trying to protect James from you.

Eve - You got him hurt

Kevin - I'm going to save him from you Eve and save a whole lot of other people in the process (takes out a gun)

Cut to the out side the centre. James keeps ringing the button for Eve to come down and let him in. There is no answer. He finds that the door is open.

Cut to inside the centre. James walks inside and it is dark. He looks around just as he is struck by a vision.

Kevin backhands Eve.

Kevin - I'm going to save him from you Eve and a whole other lot of people in the process

Kevin take out a gun and points it at Eve

James is jolted out of his vision. He then hears a gun shot coming from up stairs

James - Eve!!!

James runs into the backroom and up the stairs

Cut to Eve laying face down on the ground. She looks up at Kevin. She gets up and looks at the bullet hole in her wall.

Eve - I hope you plan to pay for that

Right then the door is kicked open and there stands James. Kevin turns around and fires the gun on James. he dodges out of the way. Eve then kicks the gun out of Kevin's hand.

Kevin - No!!

He turns around to strangle Eve. Eve takes him by the arms and flips him over her shoulder. James runs up to Eve

James - Are you okay?

Eve - I'm alright

Kevin gets up he sees his gun on the floor and picks it up before Eve or James have a chance to get their hands on it.

Kevin - Damn you!! Damn you to hell!!!!!

Kevin aims to shoot at Eve put James tackles him. This gives Eve enough time to grab her chakram. Kevin pushes James off and is about to shoot at him when Eve throws her chakram. The gun is whisked out of Kevin hands before being embedded in the wall. Kevin is startled him so much he falls back into Eve's Eli shrine. At he falls over knocking everything down and a small statue of Eli falls down and hits Kevin over the head knocking him out.

James get up and sees Eve's chakram in the wall. He looks back at Eve surprised

James - You saved my life!

Eve - Actually, I think Eli saved both of our lives(looks over to Kevin with the Eli statue that had fallen in his lap after knocking him out)

James and Eve walk over to Kevin. She picks up the statue and puts is pack on her small alter. Kevin wakes up

Kevin - Wha . . .??? Where am I?

James helps Kevin up. He looks at James then looks at Eve

Kevin - Who are you people? What's going on???

Eve - You were . .uh . . . mugged . . out side. We saved you and brought you up here to take care of you

James - Uh . . Yeah .You were hit over the head and knocked out. You were hurt pretty bad. Are you okay?

Kevin - I guess so. Is that what happened?

James- Yeah. Why don't I take you to a hospital

Kevin - Okay

James leads a dazed Kevin out of Eve's apartment. Eve looks back to her Eli statue

Eve- (to the statue) Nice work

COMMERCIAL

Cut to the centre the next morning. Eve and James are standing next each other as James is making a smoothie. He pours it in to a glass and hands it to Craig as Alex walks over.

Alex - Did you hear the news? Kevin has partial amnesia. He knows who he is and who his family is but he can't remember the last eight months. I don't think he will be much of a problem anymore.

Eve - He's much better off this way.

Alex - Nice and tidy the way things worked out. I wish more things would

Eve - I feel so selfish. I hurt Kevin, I got you hurt James, all for the want of a normal moment.

Craig - You know, you don't have to be a part of this James. It gets pretty crazy

James - I don't know, I think there's something pretty special about all of you and what you do. I want to help if I can.

Eve - Well, you did save me last night. How did you know?

James - Visions! I'll figure out how to control it.

Craig - That's a big decision to make, being a part of this life.

James - I can't turn away. Not after all I know now. You guys need someone on your side.

Eve - You might not say that after a few nights demon hunting. You might want to go back to your normal life. I feel so stupid to think I could have a normal life if I just bury my past and forget who I am.

Craig - Eve, I don't know if you've noticed but have a stellar destiny that you've been ripped out of time to complete. But it's not a crime to want a normal life and experience love.

Eve - I let it interfere with my mission

Alex - Better that then selfish desires like lust or wealth. We know we gave you a hard time about all this Eve. We just didn't want you to get hurt because we didn't know if James could deal.

Craig - But the reason we fight the demons in the first place is because we want love and life and normal moments, for everyone. Your past made you who you are and it's because of who you are that we need you. You're special.
