Evander - (sadly but sternly) Ares was killed at the hands of a mortal who held the Hines blood dagger

Craig - Where did you get the dagger stained with Hines blood?
Ronin - A man gave it to me. I don't know why but he just gave it to me and gave me a way to escape

Eve picks Ronin up and grabs the dagger out of his hand and throws it into a tree.

From "All's Fair. . ."

Eve - (breathless) I knew it was you. You're supposed to be . . .
Aidan - Dead? Oh yes Tristan is dead. You killed him long ago Livia. It's Aidan now

Jeff - Jeff - We're dealing with more than a murderer here. We're dealing with . . .
Eve - An immortal.

Aiden - You, like the demon you are, tempted me, used me to gain my homeland and then . . . then you ruined me.
Eve - Tristan . . .
Aidan - TRISTAN IS DEAD!!! And that's all thanks to you and that bastard Ares. But I took care of him.

Aidan -If we want to destroy Eve we have to do it through her friends. I will do it your way now. I can get to Alex.

Fade from black to a sunny Sunday morning as we pan over Central Park. We fade to outside the centre then fade to inside on the main gym floor. Alex is in the gym area. She is poking and prodding at the gym equipment making sure it's safe then making notes on a clip board. Pan over to Eve who comes out of the backroom also holding a clip board. She sighs sadly and walks down to where Alex is and hands the clip board over.

Eve - I double checked our inventory.

Alex - (glances at Eve) Okay.

Eve - (stands there waiting for Alex to say something else) When are you going to stop being mad at me?

Alex - I'm not mad

Eve - Then why are you acting like I took something from you. I didn't want things to turn out the way that they did.

Alex - I know Eve. Its just . . . I can't stop thinking about him.

Eve - He's a murderer . . .

Alex - (throws a clipboard at the wall) Don't you think I know that?! I saw him try to kill you! But . . . (calms her self down and speaks in softer tones) The way he looked at me . . . It affected me and all I can think about now is what if he could have been saved.

Eve - He has to want it.

Alex - Did you want to change? You were about to kill your own mother before you were saved from on high!

Eve looks taken aback by the comments. Alex sighs with regret

Alex - I'm sorry

Eve - No, you're right. A miracle happened and it stopped me from doing something terrible. I was saved and I've been earning that second chance ever since. That's not going to happen with Aiden. He has to want to change and I don't think he does. He was using you to get to me.

Alex - I really thought there was something.

Eve - I wish . . . I wish a lot of things never happened but they did and I can't take them back. I'm sorry Alex

Alex - I get it. He's the bad guy (looks to Eve) Um . . . I need to be alone. Do you mind?

Eve nods sadly and walks through to the backroom

Alex sighs and walks back up to the bar area. She opens a drawer and brings out a picture of her and Craig. She looks at it for a moment but then frowns and puts the picture back in the drawer slamming it shut. She closes her eyes and takes a deep breath trying to regain calmness and clarity.

Aidan's Voice - Have you ever had an image burned in your mind that you wish wasn't there?

Alex turns swiftly around to see Aidan standing there.

Alex - I thought I told you I'd kill you if you ever came back

Aidan - And I would rather see Livia dead then be in this place again but I can't stop thinking about you and the way you looked at me that night

Alex - Do I look stupid?

Aidan - I don't want to fight.

Alex - No, you want to kill my best friend.

Aidan - The world does not revolve around Livia! Although I am sure she has poisoned your mind to think otherwise

Alex - Her name is Eve and I think for myself.

Aidan - Then you'd let me say what I need to. I just want to talk.

Alex walks around the juice bar to the front and sits down on a stool.

Alex - So talk

Aidan - As you held that sword ready to strike me down, you hesitated. In that moment I could have ripped that sword from your hands and struck you down.

Alex - Really? You're going with that approach.

Aiden - But I couldn't. Your eyes, that look, it shook me to the core, I couldn't move. And now that image is burned into my mind. After I left I couldn't stop thinking about you.

Alex - So?

Aidan - I started thinking about my life . . .a life before Livia. I haven't felt anything in a long time but when I think of you, it stirs something deep within me. I look at you and I remember a time when I was a good man. I want to be that way again.

Alex - That's a nice sentiment but you've murdered people Aidan. That sort of thing is not easily forgotten.

Aidan - (becomes harsh and dark) And what about the things Livia has done! If you truly knew the monster that she was, you wouldn't judge me!!

Alex backs away from him scared in the moment but then her looks harden and she stands her ground.

Alex - You don't want to change. You want to kill Eve. You still would if you had have the chance.

Aidan - I don't want that anymore. I just want you.

Alex - (looks at him shocked) What . . .

Aidan - I want to change, to be the man I once was, to let go of all my bitterness and hate for just a few more moments with you (grabs her by the shoulders with urgency) Tell me you feel nothing and I'll leave. Tell me that when you look at me it does not stir any feelings within you!!

Eve bursts into the centre from the backroom and throws a knife past Aiden's head.

Eve - Get away from her!

Aiden lets go of Alex and glares at Eve. However, he looks to Alex again and just walks away

Eve - (startled for a moment then goes over to Alex) Are you okay?

Alex - I don't know

Fade to later on in the night. Alex is in a cemetery. She has a sword in her hand but she's not really looking for demons. She sits down on a head stone. She looks to her side and then rolls her eyes

Alex - What? Are you following me now?

Aidan comes into view and stands across from her.

Aidan - Perhaps we can talk uninterrupted.

Alex - (looks into Aidan's eyes)What's there to say? It all just seems a little too good to be true. How do I know this isn't to get at Eve?

Aidan - That night I almost killed Livia, I was so close to my revenge, I thought I would finally be fulfilled but even with my hands around her neck I felt hollow. And then you. You could have killed me. You could have ended it right there, but you stopped. Why?

Alex - I don't know.

Aiden - You showed me mercy when I deserved none. That night, I realized there is something more to this life then just revenge. Its the past that needs to die and I should stop living in it. If you can make me feel again, I'll forget about Livia, I'll . . .

Alex - You can't forget about her. Eve used to be Livia. She is my friend. If you want me to believe you've changed, you have to believe that she has.

Aidan - How?

Alex - You can start to refer to her as Eve because that's who she is.

Aidan - I . . . I can do that. What else?

Alex - I'm not an expert. . . . I don't know if this is a good idea. This is way too fast . . . way too good to be true.

Aidan - This is new to me too. I want to take things slow. I want to remember what it's like to feel things. Have dinner with me. Tell me how I can change. Let me convince you that what I feel is true.

Alex - I can't. I've got a lot to do.

Aiden - What are you doing here?

Alex - I'm supposed to be . . . demon hunting

Aiden - I can help.

Alex - Are you serious?

Suddenly a demon jumps down from a tree and Aiden elbows it in the face. He looks to Alex and smiles.

Cut to later in the centre. Alex walks in smiling and puts the sword down on the counter. Eve comes in just after her. She sees Alex's happy look

Eve - I guess you made out pretty well. A smile like that on your face means you kicked a lot of demon butt.

Alex - (shrugs her shoulders) Well . . . I had a little help

Eve- (curious)From who?

Alex looks away from Eve and goes behind the bar to do some more work

Eve - (worried now) Alex! Who?

Alex - Aidan

Eve - He was there? Are you alright? He could have killed you!

Alex - But he didn't! He just wanted to talk.

Eve - Don't tell me you believed the things he said!

Alex - He wants to change Eve. He even helped me with hunting tonight. We made a great team! And no one has ever said to me the things that he's said and it was real! He's for real! I felt it.

Eve - Did you really feel something? You said it yourself Alex, you like the feeling of being liked and right now it's clouding your judgment. I'm sure he said all the right things but you're falling for it because you want so badly for it to be true. Any girl wants to believe that she is the centre of a man's universe. He knows this. He's manipulating you.

Alex - I'm meeting with him tomorrow. We're going to talk some more. He wants to be a better man

Eve - He's not a man. Not anymore

Alex - You said it yourself, you've been earning your second chance. Give him a chance to earn his. I can help him. And what if this works out? We can have an immortal fighting on our side. You should have seen him Eve, he was great.

Eve - I know, I used to fight beside him. I don't like this, Alex. It doesn't feel right.

Alex - Please, Eve. Let me try (looks at Eve with pleading eyes)

Eve - This is all very noble and . . . it's great that you want to help him change but don't you think it's suspicious?

Alex - It's just coffee Eve. If he tries anything, I'll take care of it.

Eve - Are you sure?

Alex - I'll be fine. Trust me

Eve - (sighs, giving in) I trust you.

Cut to Jeff and Eve in Jeff's car looking out the window

Jeff - I can't believe you don't trust her

Eve - Would you be quiet! Of course I trust her. It's Aidan I don't trust. He's up to something.

Jeff - So you're spying on your best friend?

Eve - She would do the same thing for me

Jeff - Spy on you?

Eve - You don't know Alex very well do you? (Eve watches Aidan and Alex in coffee shop. Aidan takes Alex's hand and she let's him) I don't believe this! She's falling for him. Maybe we can get something on him. Can we . . . (looks over to Jeff who is avoiding Eve's look) Oh no, what is it?

Jeff - Eve, we've been over this. Don't you think I brought up these questions two years ago when I found out all those connections to him and past murders. There just wasn't any practical evidence and I couldn't pursue it further. And immortals don't exist. At least there not supposed to in the real world.

Eve - He tried to kill me! That should be enough evidence for Alex!

Jeff - I know what you're saying Eve. But maybe we can give the guy the benefit of the doubt. Alex obviously likes this guy and she trusts him enough to talk with him.

Eve - And people call me naïve.

Jeff - Eve, you told me that when you changed, people didn't believe, didn't want to believe. You had to work twice as hard to earn people's forgiveness. Having one person on your side made you believe it was possible. Maybe Aiden hasn't had that until now. Maybe he does want to change

Eve - I want to believe that! For Alex more than anything. I know Alex wants some sort of companionship. She's felt so alone since Craig died. I'm afraid I just can't understand her like Craig did. But Aidan is not the man to fill that void. He's not what he seems.

Eve looks back at the window at Aidan and Alex. Alex bursts out laughing

Cut to inside the coffee shop to the table where Alex and Aidan are sitting. Alex in laughing

Aidan - (laughing as well) I'm serious! My guts were literally being spilled onto the ground. I had to gather them up and put them back in before I would heal. The lesson here is . . .don't steel from Huns.

Alex - (laughs harder and tries to catch her breath)I haven't laughed like that in a long time.

Aidan - You should more often. You have a beautiful smile. (he smiles at Alex blushing) I've never had anyone understand me like you do. We are very much alike you and I.

Alex - Yeah well, I've seen some pretty interesting stuff.

Aiden - But last night, demon hunting . . . you heal as I do. Are you an immortal?

Alex - (smiles fades) Of a sort. I will die eventually and I do have a weakness.

Aidan - What?

Alex - I shouldn't tell you that.

Aidan - Because you don't trust me?

Alex - I want to, it's just . . .

Aidan - Your weakness could very well be mine. If I know, I can protect myself.

Alex - Well, it's not like there's any around anymore. . . Hines blood. My weakness is Hines blood

Aidan - Hines blood? Are you a god?

Alex - We should go some place a little more secluded.

Cut to outside the coffee shop. Alex is walking away as fast as she can. Aiden runs out of the coffee shop throwing on his coat then runs after Alex and grabs her by the arms pulling her to him.

Aidan - What is going on? What are you?

Alex - It's a long story but . . . I'm part God

Aiden - (backs away from her) Like Ares . .

Alex - No! No, nothing like Ares!

Aiden - Do you know what he did to me?

Alex - Aiden . ..

Aidan - Hines blood. Golden Hines blood!(looks around quickly) I don't . . .Is there any left!

Alex - (rolls your eyes) You've been beaten to the punch. Ares is already dead. And the Hines blood used to do has been lost in Central Park.

Aidan - I . . I have to go

Alex - What!?!?

Aidan runs off

Cut to Eve and Jeff just before Aidan is about to run by the car.

Eve - Get down!!

Eve and Jeff crouch down as Aidan runs past not noticing them.

Eve - (looks up) Where's he going?

Alex - Hi

Jeff and Eve, shocked, turn around to see Alex at the passenger side window looking pissed

COMMERCIAL

*Flashback*

Cut to a mental hospital. There are people in robes and hospital gowns walking past muttering to themselves. We pan through the people to a man with dark hair sitting in a chair rocking back and forth. It's Ronin.

Ronin - Ares. Ares. Ares. Ares.

A dark haired man in a business suit walks up to him. We recognize him as Aidan

Aidan(Scottish accent) - Are you still praying to that fool?

Ronin - Lord Ares will come. He will come. He will come

Aidan - (grabs Ronin by the hair)He has left you here to rot! He let you get caught and he'll never come for you. And no one believes you here, they think you're crazy. You can never go home to your family. Your life is ruined. All thanks to him. But I believe you when you say you were in league with him.

Ronin - (snaps out of his craziness a little)You do?

Aidan - (let's go of Ronin and straightens his own tie) Yes but he is evil. I know this and you should realize it too. He used you to further his own ends and then dropped you here when you were no longer of any use.

Ronin - (gets a crazy gleam in his eye) Yes. He left me here to rot that bastard!!

Aidan - You can have revenge!

Ronin - How?

Aidan - (drags Ronin to a secluded room and takes a dagger stained with blood from his jacket and hands it to Ronin)This is from Greece. It is stained with Golden Hines blood. I've heard recently that Ares has come back to New York in search of someone. Conceal the dagger within your robes. On the next wash day hide your self within the laundry. You can make your escape from there.

Ronin - (nods and conceals the dagger) Yes Yes!! He will pay for betraying me! He will pay for ruining my life!

Ronin walks off muttering to himself leaving Aidan smiling

*End Flashback*

Cut to Aidan in the forest during the night. Demons are scurrying around. They are scanning and examining every tree looking for the dagger. A demon walks up to Aiden

Demon - We've narrowed it down. (points) It's in that direction

Aidan - Good and nice performance last night by the way. Your attacks were so convincing I almost believed you.

Aidan walks in the direction and scans the grounds. Both the demon and Aiden are looking at the trees. Aiden goes past one tree but then walks back over. He looks at a knot hole more closely and recognizes the hilt of the dagger. He beckons a demon with razor sharp claws over. The demon cuts down the tree revealing the dagger. Aiden picks up the dagger and looks at it satisfied. He looks over to the demon

Aidan - Your work is done. Tell the rest of them to get out of here

Demon - Our master is not pleased with your lack of progress. This plan better work. Our services are not for free.

Aidan - I have no master! And I assure you this plan will work. I've already set it in motion.

Fade to Alex's loft. Alex walks in with Eve and Jeff close on her heels. Alex throws her jacket on the couch

Eve - Oh come on Alex. You would have done the exact same thing if I were in that situation

Alex - You are from Ancient Greece, you can be taken advantage of. I however, have grown up in this time. I can handle myself with jerks.

Jeff - She has a point Eve

Eve - Aidan is not a normal jerk. He is a two thousand year old immortal murderer with a grudge against me!

Jeff - She has a point too Alex

Alex and Eve both turn their heads to glare at Jeff. Jeff puts his hands up in defense

Jeff - I'm just trying to mediate the argument here

Alex - The spying is just the straw that broke the camels back.

Eve - If you mean Aidan running off . . . what did happen there exactly?

Alex - He got freaked when he found out I was part god

Eve - You told him?

Alex - It kinda came out. He was asking about why I heal so quickly .

Eve - He doesn't exactly like Gods

Alex - (sarcastically.)Yeah, I actually found that out when he ran off.

Eve - He blames both me and Ares for "ruining his life."

Alex - He told me his side and he used to be a good man Eve. He wants to be that way again.

Eve - Tristan was an ambitious man. I know, I saw it first hand when I fought against him in Britannia. He wanted to take over Rome. But he had no idea of political intrigue and deals of power. He believes that Ares set out to deliberately turn me against him and his people. If it hadn't been for Ares, Tristan believes he would have been Emperor of the known world and not an immortal and a traitor to his clan.

Alex - (looking a little guilty) He failed to mention that part.

Eve - Oh I'm sure. He has been carrying around his guilt and hatred for 2000 years, waiting for the opportunity for revenge. How did he take it when you told him you're Ares granddaughter?

Alex - (hesitating) I didn't get a chance to.

Jeff - Wait Wait Wait!!! (points to Alex) You're related to Ares God of War! Okay That's it! I'm sick of being out of the loop. It's time for you to give me your life story! Sit!

Cut to next morning. It's a busy day at the centre. Alex is in the gym area spotting for this big muscle bound guy and Eve is up at the juice bar serving drinks. Aidan walks in. Eve tells a waitress to take over for her. She walks over to Aidan

Eve - Get out of here.

Aiden - I need to speak to Alex . . .

Eve - She's busy

Aidan - (takes a deep breath) And I came to apologize to you.

Eve - What?

Aidan - I've held on to the past for far too long. It is time to bury the hatchet

Eve - What is this?

Aidan - Alex makes me feel different. Like how I used to before . . .before Livia. I want to be with her. If that means forgiving you, so be it.

Eve - I don't believe you

Aidan - Believe what you want. All I know is that I'm done with this feud.

Eve - How can I believe you after all you've done and said? Alex is a god, her heritage is . . .

Alex walks up to the bar area interrupting Eve

Alex - Aidan! What are you doing here?

Aidan - I wanted to talk to you. I shouldn't have run away. But its hard to come to grips with that fact that someone you love is apart of something you hate.

Alex - Love?

Eve - Love!

Alex - Um . .. Come with me. We can talk in the back room. Eve stay here

Eve stares in disbelief as Aidan and Alex walk to the backroom.

Cut to the backroom.

Alex - Look, I know your history with Gods. I understand why you ran off.

Aidan - But you don't understand. Ares helped Livia ruin my life. He is the reason she turned against me and my people. The Scottish would have been rich but instead we were raped of our lands, divided and conquered, we had to beg for help from the Irish . . .

Alex - Don't! I know this part.

Aidan - Even the fruit of the gods made me an outcast. Because of a golden apple I was looked upon as a demon. Over time I learned to hide my new found gift and conceal my identity as not to arouse suspicion. I never wanted to kill but it became necessary. Its been a hard and lonely life.

Alex - And you're going to have to work hard to atone for some of the things you've done too. You have to own what you've done. You can't just run off because you don't like dealing with it. I'm trying to help you

Aiden - I know and I was scared last night. If I got involved with a god it might lead me down that path again. But you are the reason that I want to change. I need to be with you to learn how to be a better man (takes Alex by the arms) Make me a better man.

Alex - Aidan, there's something else you should know about me . . .

Before Alex can say another word Aidan brings Alex to him and kisses her with a passion. When she breaks away from the kiss she looks at him with dreamy eyes.

Aidan - (cups Alex's cheek in his palm) Have dinner with me tonight.

Alex - (breathy)Okay

Aidan - (smiles and gives Alex a light kiss on the cheek) I'll pick you up at your loft.

Alex nods as he walks away. Alex just stands there and leans against the wall. Just then Eve walks in

Eve - Alex! Are you okay? What did he do to you?

Alex - He kissed me. Wow, what a kiss!

Eve - Even after you told him about Ares?

Alex - I didn't

Eve - Oh Alex!

Alex - Does he have to know?

Eve - You can't trust his intentions unless he does. And even then I'd be cautious.

Alex - Eve, he wants me to help him be a better person.

Eve - I can't believe you are falling for his bull!

Alex - (glares at Eve) When the hell did we switch places? When did you become the distrusting one and I started believing that people can change!

Eve - He doesn't want to change! He's just saying that so you'll trust him. He is using you as a way to get to me.

Alex - You know what? The whole world does not revolve around you!!(pushes past Eve to go out to the centre)

Eve - Alex! You are acting like a lovesick child! He's a murderer!!

Alex (whips around) How is he any different from you!!

Eve - Excuse me?

Alex - You murdered people and you changed. Why can't he?

Eve - I want to believe he's changed, especially when he apologized to me . . .

Alex - He apologized! He's taking the steps to change and you won't see it simply because he's not interested in you anymore

Eve - Alex that is not it at all! Doesn't any of this seem wrong to you? Use your head!

Alex - If you can't forgive him how can you ever expect anyone to forgive you?

Eve is shocked at this statement

Alex - I have to go. I have a date to get ready for.

Alex leaves the backroom and the centre leaving Eve frustrated and upset.

Fade to a fancy restaurant in the evening. The lighting is dim but each table has candles lighting them. We pan through all the tables with glamorous people smiling and laughing over to where Alex and Aidan are sitting in a secluded corner. Aidan looks like he is ready for a business conference and Alex is dressed in a simple black dress. She is picking at her food looking uncomfortable. Aidan notices this.

Aidan - Food not good?

Alex - No it's fine. . . . (smiles weakly and puts her fork down) I'm not used to all this fancy stuff.

Aidan - That's not it is it?

Alex - (sighs) Eve and I had an argument. Actually it was more like a big fight. We've been having a lot of those lately ever since a friend died. But I feel really bad about this one.

Aidan - What was it over?

Alex - You. She doesn't believe you want to change.

Aidan - I made my peace. I wanted to start over but she wouldn't have it

Alex - She believes you still hold a grudge against her

Aidan - She betrayed me. She burned my village and my family, she even burned the villages that didn't resist Roman invasion. Innocent men, women and children died and I was blamed. Who wouldn't still hold a grudge? I wish you knew what she was like back then. Then you'd understand the way I feel

Alex - Eve has been very candid with me about the things that she did in her past.

Aiden - Hearing about it is not the same as living it.

Alex - She feels deep shame and regret about the things she's done. She is trying to repent, trying to do good. She knows she can't change what happened and maybe never even atone, all she tries to do is balance the scales. She won't let anyone forgive her (casts her eyes down in shame) And then I go and call her a murderer and a hypocrite in not believing you could change. I said if she couldn't forgive you then no one should forgive her.

Aidan - She was seduced. Corrupted by power. It's not completely her fault

Alex - Eve doesn't pass blame. She accepts responsibility for her actions. She believes in love and redemption.

Aidan - Oh please. She hates me. Changing her name does not change cold hard facts. That son of a bitch Ares seduced her and she fell for it because of her own greed.

Alex - Like how you fell for Livia's offer?

Aidan - What did you say?

Alex - Eve told me how it was your plan to use her to try and take over Rome.

Aidan - That was different! I was doing that for my people! Greek gods are pathetic and petty just like Roman Dogs. They are only concerned with their own interests, willing to screw anyone to get what they want.

Alex - (shakes her head and grabs her purse and coat) This isn't going to work (she leaves the restaurant)

COMMERCIAL

Cut to Eve's apartment. She sits on her couch not saying anything. Jeff leans on the wall across from her

Jeff - You hurting? Cause I imagine Alex is too. I don't think she would say those things if she wasn't. From what I've heard, you two have been through a lot and that's including Craig's death. Are you're going to let some dick come between you now? I know you have a bad feeling Eve and maybe you're right and maybe you're not.

Eve looks up at him

Jeff - Give him the benefit of the doubt. He might just be able to change. But if you are right you can be there to help Alex. That's what friends do.

Eve - You're right. (gets up) I want to find Alex and Aidan. I want to tell both of them that I'm sorry.

Jeff - I know the place they're at. I'll drive you there

Eve - I'll still think he's up to something though

Jeff - Yeah but if I were you I'd bite my tongue before I say that to them.

Cut to the street outside the restaurant. Alex wraps her coat around her and walks away. Aidan runs after and catches up

Aidan - What is your problem!!??

Alex - It's your problem Aidan. With gods!

Aidan - You know I how I feel

Alex - How am I supposed to look past all you've done if you can't look past it yourself?

Aidan - You don't understand what they did to me.

Alex - No, I do understand. Are you even listening to yourself? You say you're letting go and but its obvious you can't. You're not even trying to change. This could never work out between us.

Aidan - Why? Tell me why Livia is worthy of forgiveness and patience but I am not!

Alex - No . . . no I have to go.

Aidan - (grabs her) NO! I am not letting you go until you tell me

Alex - You hate Greek gods! My parents were Greek gods!(pushes him off)

Aidan - You can't help who you're parents are

Alex - It doesn't mean I'm ashamed of who I am. I am a daughter of Evander who was a son . . . of Ares

Aidan - Ares . .. You are Ares granddaughter

Aiden looks at Alex in disgust then slowly takes the Hines dagger out of his coat pocket

Aiden - Well then that just sweetens the deal for me. I get to kill someone who lives with such disgusting blood running through their veins.

Alex sees and recognizes the dagger. When Aidan slashes it at her she ducks

Alex - That knife? How did you get it?

Aidan - From Greece. Oh I had to lend it to Ronin to kill off Ares for me. I can't believe the moron actually pulled it off.

Alex - You! You gave that knife to him!

Aidan - (Aidan slashes at Alex again and she dodges to the side. He's beginning to back her into a secluded area) It was stuck in a tree. Now I don't usually like demons but my partner provided them for my little hunt and they did a fabulous job of narrowing down the search.

Alex - Partner?

Aidan - Oh yes. Someone who hates Eve just as much as I do. And he has connections. I wouldn't have helped him actually but I do owe him. He was the one who gave me that gold apple. Marked with his symbol, a black X. He and I have teamed up to get revenge on Eve

Alex - You wanted us to fight.

Aidan - Smart girl (laughs) but you're a lovesick fool

Aidan slashes at her again and Alex flips back managing to miss the slash but just barely. Alex beings to run back farther into the wooded area. Aidan catches up quickly though and flips over her to catch her. He flips her around to hold the knife to her throat

Aidan - You're such a pretty girl and I'd love to have you but my partner needs you dead. I was going to kill you anyway, you know, after . . . but now that I've found out your heritage, I'd rather sleep with a snake. Killing you will destroy Eve inside and kill off Ares bloodline. Win Win.

Alex's hand glows blue with energy and she grabs Aidan's face burning him. He stumbles back screaming letting Alex go. Alex whips around to see Aidan's face healing quickly leaving no scars.

Alex - Eve was right. You are consumed by hate and you were using me

Aidan - (laughs)And you fell for it, you pathetic twit! I've vowed revenge on Ares and Livia for two millennia. I'm so close to achieving that goal there is no way in hell I'd change now.

Alex blasts him with another energy ball and runs off while Aidan gets flung back into a tree. He gets up and throws the knife at Alex's retreating back. Close up on a hand as it catches the knife. Pan up to Eve's face

Aidan - YOU!!!

Eve - Yeah!

Alex turns around and sees Eve and Jeff and smiles.

Alex - How'd you find me?

Eve - We were coming to apologize.

Jeff - But we saw blue flashes in the woods and Eve says that's your calling card

Aidan kicks the feet out from under Eve and catches the knife as if falls out her hands. Eve propels herself up with her feet and flips over Aidan. She runs up and does her trademark move on him. He lands on his feet and as Eve gets on her feet and turns around, Aidan kicks her in the face.

Aidan - Please. I taught you that move Livia. I know how to counter it.

Eve - It worked before when I beat you in Scotland.

Aidan screams and attacks Eve. Eve jumps up and kicks Aidan in the face. He stumbles back a few steps. Eve then kicks the feet out from under him. While he's down Eve kicks him in the face. She stands up to kick the knife out of his hands. Eve jumps over Aidan to try and retrieve it but he grabs her foot sending her crashing to the ground. He drags her away but as he tries to get over her to get the knife Eve kicks him in the chest sending him flying. Eve summersaults backward and gets the knife and tosses it to Alex

Eve - Alex destroy it!

In slow motion as the knife moves through the air Aidan runs to try and get it at the same time Alex throws an energy ball. Aidan jumps but just before his hand reaches it the energy ball blows it to dust. Aidan falls to the ground and we're back to regular motion.

Aidan - NO!

Alex - (kicks him in the face) That's for calling me a pathetic twit, Jerk face!

A dark figure comes from out the shadows and Aidan turns around clearly scared. Eve and Jeff make a move to protect Alex.

Aidan - No!! No I didn't fail. Don't take away my immortality. We can still kill her. Just do it now!

The dark figure lifts it hand and a glow begins to appear around Aidan. He begins to scream as an X is burned into his forehead. The glow disappears and so does the figure and Aidan just lays on the ground motionless.

Jeff approaches and feels for a pulse. There is none

Jeff - He's dead (pulls out his cell phone) I'll uh . . .call this in. You two make tracks

Eve runs over to Alex and gives her a hug and they walk away.

Jeff stops for a minute and looks at Aidan forehead.

Jeff - An X?

COMMERCIAL

Cut to Eve's apartment. Alex is sitting on the couch and Eve comes over to her with a glass of water and some aspirin.

Alex - (takes them) Thanks I have a monumental headache. Why can't this god blood stop those?(looks at Eve who's just standing looking at her) Eve I'm sorry. I never should have said those things to you. You were right. He's was playing us. Playing me. He wanted us to have a fight. He was planning to kill me

Eve - I wish I wasn't right. And the things you said weren't exactly false. I should have never tried to stop you from loving and believing in good. It's those kinds of things I'm trying to bring back to this world and instead I tried to hide you from it.

Alex - But you were right about Aiden so go on. Say it.

Eve - Say what?

Alex - Well we have switched places these last couple of days. I'd be all over the place with 'I told you so'

Eve - Well I'm not going to say it. I guess after Craig's death I've been trying to fill everyone's shoes. Be like he was, supportive and protective. But I can't be like he was with out boarder lining you. Or so it would seem.

Alex - Eve, don't worry about trying to be the team. Just be you. That's why he brought you here in the first place. Craig and I just weren't enough

Eve - But you two were everything to me. I've been so scared with Aiden around. I can't lose you too. I don't think I'll ever be whole without Craig around but Jeff fills Craig's shoes pretty well.

Jeff - I don't fill his shoes we're just the same size.

Eve and Alex look over to Jeff who's standing by the door.

Jeff - I took care of the 'mishap'

Eve - Thanks Jeff

Jeff looks over to Alex who is looking rather sullen. He walks over and sits down beside Alex. Eve sits down on the other side

Jeff - Something wrong?

Alex - I just feel really stupid falling for Aidan. Again!

Eve - Alex I know you just want someone to fill that void, to understand you like Craig did

Alex - And in searching for that I always seem to be going after the wrong guys. And I always know ahead of time that I'll never love them because I will always love . . .

Eve - Alex?

Alex - (looks down and sadly whispers) I never told him.( looks up to Eve as a tear slides down her cheek) I love Craig

Eve pulls Alex in to a hug and Jeff just sighs sadly as he hangs his head

fade to black
