The opening scene is a panoramic view around a graveyard.

*Flashback*

Craig gets his neck snapped by a huge green demon.

*End flashback*

Cut to Craig's tombstone. The ground has been disturbed. It looks like it has been dug into then filled up again.

Fade to Eve's apartment early morning in Eve's bedroom. Eve is laying in bed with her eyes open looking out her bedroom window.

Eve(voice over commentary) - It been one week. One week since Craig died. It doesn't feel real. I keep thinking he will talk through my door. But that isn't happening today, it will never happen again. His parents still don't know. Alex refuses to tell them but we owe Craig's family the truth. But in order to tell them the truth about what happened to their son, we'd have to tell them the truth about what really lurks in the dark. How can they possibly accept that an unknown evil killed their son? I can barely accept it. I can barely stand the pain. How would Craig's family get through? How will Alex?

Fade to Craig's apartment where all the furniture is covered over and there are cardboard boxes filled with many of Craig's things. In the middle of the apartment stands Alex. We fade to a close up of her face as one lone tear runs down her cheek.

Fade in to Craig's apartment. Alex is just standing in the middle of the apartment surrounded by boxes. Pan around to her face. She is staring blankly out the window, lost in her own thoughts. No more tears are shed. Behind her the door opens and Eve comes through.

Eve - Alex?

Alex doesn't answer. Eve walks up behind Alex and puts a hand on her shoulder. Alex jumps slightly.

Eve - Hey! Are you okay?

Alex - (looks at her incredulously) Define okay?

Eve - (ignores the biting remarket with a sigh and looks around) What's all this?

Alex - I'm . . . uh . . I'm just packing away Craig things. A moving truck is coming by later to pick up the stuff and move it into storage under my loft.(shakes her head slightly and picks up the packing tape to start taping some of the boxes)

Eve - You're just going to keep all of it?

Alex - What else am I supposed to do with it?

Eve - I don't know . . .maybe give some of it away to a charity, a family who could use it . . .

Alex - (cuts her off)I can't! I can't do that. It would mean accepting . . . accepting that . . .

Eve - That Craig is not coming back.

Alex - Yeah.

Eve - It might help you move on. Like telling Craig's family about . . .

Alex - No!

Eve - They're Craig's parents. They know of magic! They would understand the world being filled with . . .

Alex - They are not demon hunters! It was Craig's grandmother that got him and Chris into the magic and their family's legacy. Craig's parents didn't want any part of it.

Eve - Yeah, I remember Craig telling me that.

Alex - I can't let them know, not yet. I can't tell the people that took me in that . . . that . . (breathes in trying to keep her calm) That the only person that ever truly cared about me . . is . . . is . . .

Eve - (understands)Craig was your family after your parents died. And now its like you've lost your family all over again. All that pain is coming back.

Alex - (sits down on one of the boxes) You don't ever really get over your parents dying. The Summers were friends of my family and they took me in, treated me like one of their own and . . . well, I was pretty rotten kid.

Eve - I'm sure that's not entirely true. They probably understood that you were hurt and grieving. People deal with their pain in different ways

Alex - I was horrible Eve. And Craig was always there sticking up for me. He was the only one I could count on. The only one I trusted. And we spent all our time together. We would sneak out late and go to some abandoned lot where we stashed boos and drink ourselves into a stupor. It was a way to escape.

Eve - Adolescence is a painful period. In any century.

Alex - I started the drinking. I started it but Craig was the one who got addicted. And then he was moving at a pace so fast even I couldn't follow. Then when Craig came back that morning with blood all over him. His parents finally realized what was going on and decided to get him help.

Eve - And that when he went to rehab, that's where he met Jeff.

Alex - Yeah. 6 months he was gone. And I had to see the look of disappointment on his parents faces every day, bear the weight of their sorrow over what I pushed him into. After everything they did for me, I almost made them lose a son. The guilt was unbearable. When he came back I vowed to change. I was not going to lose him again. I promised his parents I wouldn't lose him. (bows her head) I broke my promise.

Eve - Craig made his own choice. He made the decision to save Jeff's life by sacrificing his own. It is a sacrifice worthy of the path he walked.

Alex - I can't go through seeing that look on their faces again. I just can't.

Eve - I understand but you can't keep this from them Alex. They deserve to know the truth about everything.

Alex - I know but I just can't right now. I'm trying work through this Eve, I really am, but I got to do it my way.(looks out the window) The moving truck is here. You got class?

Eve - Yeah, I should be back by the after noon though. Will I see you at the centre?

Alex - Yeah.(picks up a box and heads out the door) See ya.

Eve sighs and waves goodbye. She shakes her head and heads out the door.

Fade to the afternoon. Inside the centre. Eve walks in and finds Alex at the juice bar, she's just staring at her drink.

Eve - Hi

Alex - (looks up from her drink) Hi. How was your classes?

Eve - Good.

Alex - Good. (nods in an awkward moment)

Eve - Alex . . . um . . about this morning . . .

Alex - You've got mail!

Eve - What?

Alex - Upstairs in your apartment. You have mail and if you want to see what kind you should go check

Eve looks at Alex strangely for a moment then curious to see what she is talking about goes upstairs.

Cut to Eve's apartment. Eve walks in the door and finds James sitting on the couch. He waves the envelopes in the air

James - Hey.

Eve just stares at him dumbfounded for a minute.

James - (stands up) Alex told me what happened. I'm so sorry.

Eve runs over to him and hugs him tightly. He hugs her back and kiss to top of her head

James - How are to holding up?

Eve doesn't answer. She just squeezes her eyes shut and buries her face in James chest.

James - Eve? (pulls away and looks at her) Hey?

Eve - I'm coping. (pulls away and moves over to the stove to put the kettle on) Death has always been a part of my life. Sometimes in the most brutal of ways.

James - So you don't feel anything?

Eve - Of course I do and I hurt. But I've accepted he's gone. I've accepted that he's not going to walk through that door . . . that he's not going to be around anymore to explain to some ridiculous 21st century ritual that I just don't get.

James - Well, I think I can help there at least.

Eve - (smiles) I'm trying to be strong especially for Alex. She's having trouble. She's in a lot of pain.

James - Is there is anything I can do to help?

Eve - Funny you should mention that. There is something we could use a little more help with. Jeff hasn't quite got the hand of it yet.

James - Just name it

Cut to James being thrown over a great distance into a tree

James - AHHHHHHHHH!!!!

Gets up slowly

James - Ow! Never again!

Jeff - AHHHHHHHH!

Jeff lands right beside James. James helps Jeff up

Jeff - Thanks.

James - Explain to me how you got roped into this again

Jeff - I owed it to Craig. I finally figured out all this is real when he saved my life. The least I could do it fight what he died from. . . What about you? I can't believe Eve just told you about this all out of the blue

James - Uh, well its a little more complicated then that. I actually got abducted by a love cult.

Jeff - What?

James - Long story.

Jeff - (takes a deep break and winces as he holds his ribs) Man, when I agreed to do this I didn't think it would involve so much pain.

James - Yeah, likewise

James and Jeff look over to Eve and Alex

Jeff - How do they do it?

Pan over to Eve blocking and dodging the swipes and punches coming from an orange demon with very long claws. Eve flips back kicks the demon in the chin. Eve then takes it's arm twists it and sends the demon flying head first into a tree. Eve then picks up her sword summersaults over and chops the head off. Just as another demon comes up behind Eve, Eve jabs the demon in the stomach with her sword and spins around and kicks it in the face then spins around again slices it's head off.

Cut to Alex who heads butts and demon then picks it up over her head and throws it into a tree. She kicks another demon in the stomach. She flips over it and then snaps it's neck. She ducks the punch of another demon and then electrocutes it.

Pan over to Jeff and James who are being charged at by another yet another monster. Jeff brings out his gun and starts firing at it but it still keeps coming. Just as it's about to jump on them Alex comes up from behind the demon and snaps it's neck

Alex - Bullets don't work on demons, remember!

Jeff- I'm a cop Alex. Force of habit.

Alex dodges kicks from two other demons and electrocutes the both of them then she picks up one and snaps it's neck. Alex swings around and punches another demon then continues to beat it until it's well past dead. Alex continues beating.

COMMERCIAL

Alex - Motherless Son of a bitch!!!!

Alex continues to beat the demon

Eve - Alex!!! Alex stop!! (runs over with Jeff and James)

Eve Jeff and James drag Alex off the demon but Alex continues to kick at

Eve - Alex! ALEX!! I think you got him. It's dead

Alex - (shrugs everyone off her) Not dead enough!(walks away)

Eve puts her hands on her head in frustration takes a deep breath then follows Alex out of the wooded area.

Jeff - (Out of breath) I don't know how you guys do it every night. Was this like a nightly thing in Rome?

James - You told him you were from the past?

Eve - If he's going to be helping us, he has a right to know.

Jeff- I can't believe Craig gave up being a cop for this

Eve - Craig wanted to be a police officer?

James - Craig? The professor? He wanted to be a cop?

Jeff - Yeah, we were planning on entering the academy together after rehab but he changed his mind

Alex - (annoyed) It's because of his grandmother.

James - I don't get it

Eve - Craig told me once that he was really close to his grandmother. She was the one who taught him all about the magical arts and the black arts and demons and witches.

Alex - His family on his grandmother's side were all demon hunters and protectors of the Phoenix Sword. Craig's mother was never one to believe but Craig listened to all the stories. It was his grandmother's wish that he would take up the task of fighting evil.

Jeff - So how'd you get involved?

Alex - (turns around sharply to face Jeff who stops abruptly) I would have followed him anywhere. Even into hell.

Eve - Actually it Hell we're trying to stop this world from turning into. And it all starts which choice. Embracing the power to choose and knowing there is a better path. Craig taught me that I can fight for that. I can protect choice by fighting those who would take it away.

Jeff - And I'll help. If that's what Craig believed in then I'll honour his memory and fight by your side

James - Me too.

Jeff, Alex, James and Eve all walk up to the entrance of the centre.

Jeff - Okay I got to split. The captain put me on an early shift so I got be up. I'll see you tomorrow.

Eve - Bye Jeff

Alex - Yeah I better go too. (Alex walks off)

Eve - Alex! Where are you going? Your loft is in the other direction

Alex - I'm going to visit Craig's grave first

Eve - Alex, wait!(walks over to Alex) Why don't you come inside. Maybe we can talk.

Alex - (rolls her eyes) I told you Eve. I'm trying to get through this but I'm not just going to forget him

Alex walks away. James comes up behind Eve and wraps his arms around her.

Eve - I don't want her to forget. I just don't want her to bury herself in her grief.

James - You can't force her to move on.

Eve - Craig would know what to do. I wish he was here

James - I think Alex does too

Cut to next day in the afternoon inside the centre. Eve walks in and drops her bookbag on the juice counter and James walks over and pours her a juice smoothie.

James - Have one on the house. You look like you could use a bit of a sugar fix

Eve - (smiles) Thanks

Jeff - You think you could pour one of those for me.

Jeff walks in looking very tired and plops himself down on a stool. James slides a smoothie down to him

Eve - Tough day?

Jeff - Every bone in my body aches from last night

James - (rotates his shoulder) I hear that!

Eve - You get used to it.

Jeff - I say we take a break and do something fun tonight. Go out for an "all you can eat" dinner, stuff our faces, then we'd go rent the cheesiest movies we can find and make fun of them all night.

Eve - (smiles)Alex, Craig and I used to do that!

Jeff - I'm not surprised. Craig and I used to do that too.

Eve - It sounds like fun but . . .

James - Come on Eve, you can't go patrolling every night. I don't think Craig would want you to give up having fun.

Eve - (rolls her eyes then gives in) Okay, I'm in. Movie night tonight

Jeff - Maybe we can make it like a weekly thing to sort of unwind from (looks around and lowers his voice) fighting evil

Eve - That's a good idea! Where's Alex? I'll run it by her

James- She left early. Said there was some thing she had to do

Eve -(gets up from her seat) I'll call her, see what's going on.

Cut to Eve's apartment upstairs. She's about to pick up her phone to call Alex and sees a note. She reads it out loud

Eve - ~Eve, I've gone out. Don't bother calling, Alex~ . . . Great. Just great.(slams the note on the counter)

Cut to the centre in the evening. Eve comes walks in wearing a short sky blue dress and James and Jeff who were waiting for her whistle

Jeff - Wow!

James - Hey watch it. That's my girlfriend you're talking about!

Eve just smiles as she, Jeff and James head out but Alex walks in. She looks at them confused

Alex - What are you guys all dressed up for?

Eve - (sighs) We're going out. I was going to call but you said not to bother. Where were you anyway or need I ask?

Alex - Don't.

Eve - (ignores the quip and puts on a smile) Well come on! We'll drop by your place and you can put on something nice

Alex - Where are you going?

Eve - "All you can eat" at a Chinese restaurant then back here for some cheesy movies

Alex - Why are you doing that?

Eve- Because we decided to have a little fun tonight

Alex - We have to go patrolling

Jeff and James groan.

Eve - Alex, they need a break.

Alex - That's their problem.

Eve - We all need a break.

Alex - Just because Jeff and James can't keep up you want to blow our whole mission off?

Jeff - Now, hold on!

James - Alex, maybe you should calm down

Alex - And maybe you should shut up. You're all just so ready to forget about Craig like he never even existed.

Eve - That's enough! I never said to forget about him!! Nor would I ever. He was my friend too but I'm not going to wallow in pain and vengeance. Craig wouldn't want that.

Alex gives Eve an evil stare then walks away into the backroom of the centre.

Jeff - Do you think we should go talk to her?

Eve - Just leave her be for now. She needs time

Jeff- So what do we do now?

Eve - (sighs) What we intended. Let's try to have some fun.

Eve smiles at both Jeff and James trying to lighten the mood. They smile back and loop there arms with Eve's and they walk out the door.

Cut to the backroom where Alex is sitting on a box thinking. She makes up her mind about something and goes up to Eve's apartment.

Cut to Eve's apartment. Alex busts the door open. and goes over to the closet where Eve keeps all her weapons. She finds the case where they are kept locked. She can't pull the lock off with her god like strength. She leaves for a moment then comes back with a crow bar and begins hacking and pulling at the lock.

COMMERCIAL

Cut to the centre later in the evening. Alex comes out of the backroom with a sword in her hand. She hears voice from the outside. She quickly stashes away the sword out of sight. She gets behind the counter and brings out some paper work. Jeff, Eve and James walk in laughing.

James - On man I'm stuffed!!

Eve - I don't think I've ever eaten that much!

They all see Alex as soon as they get in and stop laughing

Eve - You're still here

Alex - It was quiet. I thought I'd get some paper work done

Eve - (looks at Jeff and James) Why don't you guys go upstairs and put on the movies. I'll be up in a second

Jeff and James leave and Eve just stands there for a minute looking at Alex who is still writing things down

Eve - You put me in a really awkward position earlier. Demanding me to choose between my friends.

Alex - I wasn't "demanding" anything. We have a job. We have a mission. Its hard, its thankless but we do it. We owe it to Craig that we see this through.

Eve - Our mission doesn't stop because we stopped demon hunting for one night. Even if all the demons were gone tomorrow our work would not be finished because its not about the fighting!

Alex - And yet while you're out filling you face the problems are only getting worse. People could be dead right now from some demon. We should be out there. Fighting! Killing every demon. Making them pay for what they did to Craig!!

Eve -The demon that killed Craig is dead! What more do you want?

Alex - I want Craig back!!

Eve - He can't come back!

Alex - I know that! But I am prepared to settle for every demon on this earth burning in hell. At least I'm doing something! All you want to do is move on and forget about Craig so you can forget about your pain

Eve - AND ALL YOU WANT TO DO BURY YOUR PAIN WITH VENGEANCE!!! And you dishonour Craig that way.

Alex - How dare you! You make it look like getting on with your life is so easy. Well it's not!

Eve - I know that! I am taking it one day at a time trying to work through the pain. The very reason why I go on, why I can get by is because he lives on in my heart. But you, instead of us helping each other you keep causing more pain.

Alex - I don't have to listen to this

Alex grabs the sword from under the counter and points it at Eve. Eve is shocked. She puts her hands up and backs away

Eve - Alex, please. I don't want to fight.

Alex - Then get out of my way!

Eve - What are you going to do?

Alex - What you should be doing. Wiping every demon from this earth, even if it takes all night. Even if I have to start with you.

Eve is shocked but she sees the fury in Alex's eyes. Eve stands aside. Alex charges out the entrance. Eve runs quickly upstairs.

Cut to Eve's apartment. She runs in and opens the closet

Jeff - Hey what's wrong?

Eve finds the lock to the chest where she kept her weapons on the floor broken off.

Eve - No!

James - What?

Eve - Craig put a spell on this lock so it would be spell proof, demon proof and god proof. No one could get at these weapons and only I knew where the key was. (Eve spots a crowbar stashed at the back) And Alex broke in.

James - What's the deal?

Eve - Alex stole a sword. She's going to hunt demons by herself and get herself hurt if not damned. You two grab a weapon. We have to find her.

Eve picks up her chakram and runs out her apartment. Jeff takes a gun out of his coat and follows Eve out while James grabs a sword from the chest and runs out of Eve's apartment

Cut to the outskirts of the cemetery. Alex is standing at the foot of Craig's grave with the sword in her hand

Alex - Why did you leave me Craig? Why did you leave me alone.

Male voice - You will never be alone

Alex spins around her sword held high

Alex - (looks wildly around her) Craig?

Alex hears the muffled sounds of someone screaming. Alex runs toward the sound

Cut to the cemetery. An elderly woman is struggling against a large blue scaled demon with horns. Alex hurls the sword at the demon like a javelin and it strikes him right in the back. He lets the woman go.

Alex - Run!

The woman doesn't hesitate she runs away from the cemetery. Alex runs over and grabs the sword out of the demons back. It turns around and knocks the sword out of her hands. It then backhands Alex sending her flying. Alex lands with a thud, her head inches away from a tombstone.

Alex - Whoa! That was close!

Alex looks up to see the demon with her sword in his hands about to bring it down on her head. Just then a chakram hits the sword right out of the demon's hand. The chakram then sails back to Eve.

Eve - Get away from her!

Eve runs up to the demon who turns around. She is about to punch it when it grabs her hand. He throws her away on to the ground ripping her dress in the process. Eve gets up and looks at her dress. She narrows her eyes.

Eve runs over to the demon and ducks the punch he swings by rolling under it and kicking him where the sun don't shine. He doubles over and Eve gives him an uppercut punch sending him flying on to his back. He gets up again only to have Eve kick him in the back of the knee sending him down on one knee at Eve's height.

Meanwhile, Alex has gotten up and is looking around for the sword that was knocked out of the demon's hand.

Cut back to Eve who is in the process of swinging around to do a round house kick on the demon but it catches her leg.

Eve - Oh that can't be good

The demon lifts Eve over it's head. Alex sees this. The demon throws Eve far

Alex - Eve! No!

Alex at the speed of light runs and catches Eve. As she catches her both of them fall to the ground. Alex shakes her head slightly and then looks to Eve. Eve's eyes are closed

Alex - Eve? Eve!?

The demon screams at the top of his lungs and charges at Alex and Eve. Just as the demon reaches them. A sword comes down upon the demons head slicing it off. The head rolls over beside Alex and Eve. Alex looks up seeing Jeff holding the sword.

Jeff - You're right. A sword is much more effective than a gun.

James come running up behind Jeff he sees Eve

James - Oh no!

Alex looks back to Eve

Alex - Eve?

Eve groans slightly and looks back up at Alex

Eve - You owe me a dress!

Alex laughs and hugs Eve who hugs her back

James looks at the demon head on the ground and grimaces

James -(Looks to Jeff) Did you do that?

Jeff - Yeah

James - Nice!

COMMERCIAL

Cut to the centre. Jeff and James walk in followed closely by Alex and Eve who have their arms around each other

Alex - Hey Jeff!

Jeff turns around

Alex - Thanks for what you did back there. I owe you my life.

Jeff - It's okay

Alex - No it isn't. Look, I know I've been a real pain in the ass . . .

Jeff - Your best friend died. You've got a pretty good reason

Alex - That doesn't excuse the way I treated you. You're trying to be my friend and I've been a bitch. I'm sorry.

Jeff - It takes a lot to admit that and a lot to say you're sorry. Apology accepted

Alex - And James . . .

James - No words needed. I get where you're coming from. There are no hard feelings! . . . Also, you are my boss . . . so there's that.

Alex - Thanks.

Eve - Why the change?

Alex - I thought I was alone. That all I had left was pain to remember him by. But I'm not alone and there is more than just pain. There's you and Jeff and James and doing things that Craig loved . . .not only the things he felt responsible for. I'm not ready to give up his stuff or tell his parents just yet but maybe in time I will.

Eve - And I'll help every step of the way. I'm sorry I pushed you as hard as I did. I deal with death differently and I wasn't helping you deal with your pain. I was trying to make you adopt my way.

Alex - You were right though. I was burying my pain in vengeance.

Jeff - I can't tell you that it's going to stop hurting but I promise it will get easier if you deal with it head on.

Alex - I know.

James - So . . . Anyone up for a cheesy movie?

Alex follows James Eve and Jeff upstairs

Alex - What movie?

Eve - Piranhas

Alex - Oh super cheesy horror flick!

Cut to Eve's apartment. James, Eve, Alex and Jeff are sitting on Eve's couch watching the movie and eating popcorn. James throws a piece of popcorn at Eve but it hits Alex. Alex looks over and she throws a piece of popcorn but it hits Eve. She throws a huge handful of popcorn at Alex but she ducks and it hits Jeff. Jeff just sits there for a minute. Then he starts throwing popcorn and everyone gets in to a big popcorn fight. Popcorn is flying everywhere and everyone is jumping around and laughing

Eve -(voice over commentary) Truth. It hurts. But it can also set you free. One thing is for sure, the truth of Craig's passing will most certainly change our life.

Fade to a dark room. The only light in the room is one shining on an elaborate urn. Lucifer walks up the urn with a cloaked henchman beside him.

Lucifer - Is this it?

Henchman - Yes my lord

Lucifer - And both souls are inside.

Henchman - Yes my lord. They are well protected in the urn.

Lucifer - And you have the body? Everything is ready to go?

Henchman - Everything!

Lucifer - Then proceed.

Fade to black
