Vestibule

Drawn by curiosity, you enter a darkened chamber. The carpet is deep and dark green, the walls are of plain red brick, and the only illumination comes from firepots spaced strategically about the room. After the heat of the summer sun outside, the cool within the Vestibule is a welcome relief.

There are no seats. You are required to stand, so stand you do.

There are receptacles for shoes on your left. A notice beside the double doors reads "HALLOWED GROUND - PLEASE REMOVE YOUR SHOES." You do so, thankful for the insulating properties of the carpet, and place your shoes in an empty receptacle.

This, place, too, seems to be unoccupied, although someone had to have lit these firepots recently. You can either head back outside, now, or move forward through the double doors into what lies beyond ...
