Reading: Revelation 12:1-18
Dear friends,
A new day dawns upon the world to begin the New Year 2008. Let us place it into the hands of the Lord.
I will concelebrate Holy Mass this morning in Immaculate Conception Church, Palmer Road, with the parish priest. Today is the great Solemnity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God and it is a day to pray for peace.
I spent my time of prayer today with our Blessed Mother on her feast day. She said, Melvin, my son and believer in my Son Jesus, your Saviour, I love and embrace you. I love all my sons and daughters living in the world, especially those who have a devotion to me. I intercede for all of you that you will receive the graces to turn totally to Jesus, my Son, and to follow Him.
Today the Church celebrates the Feast of the Mother of God. This is a title given to me by the Church in her early years. By calling me the Mother of God it was clear that I am the Mother of Jesus, my Son, who is God, the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity. I gave birth to the long-awaited Messiah, the Saviour of the world whom the Father sent for your redemption.
We have begun a new year and there are dark clouds hovering over the world at this time. The people are acting similar to the people of Noah's time, eating and drinking without a thought for God. You know what happened because of their evil ways; pray that the people of today will not be obstinate but that they will repent of their sins and return to their Saviour before it is too late.
In order to call all people to repent, the Father will give the people of the world certain unmistaken signs that the chastisement is near. My words to you today are a call to you to pray even harder and to go to church often to receive the Holy Eucharist, and to pray your rosary every day.
As Jesus defeated the evil one, you too with the power of your Lord and Saviour can defeat him completely. I will remain close to all of you, my faithful children, during this new year that begins today. I love you and Jesus loves you too.

Sunday, Solemnity of the Epiphany of the Lord—Jan. 2:
"`They fell down and worshipped Him' (Mt 2:11). While the Magi acknowledged and worshipped the baby that Mary cradled in her arms as the One awaited by the nations and foretold by prophets, today we can also worship Him in the Eucharist, and acknowledge Him as our Creator, our only Lord and Savior" (Pope John Paul II, August 6, 2004).

MEDJUGORJE DAY BY DAY
Jan 1 - SOLEMNITY OF MARY, MOTHER OF GOD
In October of 1981, the Blessed Virgin gave the following message:
I am the Mother of God and the Queen of Peace (First Years Oct 12, 1981).
And on New Year's Day in 1987, she said:
Dear children, today, the first day of the New Year, I invite all of you to live the messages which I give you. You know, dear children, that because of you, I have stayed here this long in order to teach you to walk on the road to holiness.
Therefore, dear children, pray without ceasing and live the messages I am giving you, for I do it with great love towards God and you. (Weekly Message January 1, 1987).
Living anew the messages during the New Years speaks of fresh beginnings. From Paul's letter to the Colossians:
You have stripped off the old self with its practices and have clothed yourselves with the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge according to the image of its creator (Col. 3:9-10),
And from 2 Corinthians:
So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new (2 Cor 5:17).
Reflection:
It's appropriate that on this New Year's Day, Our Lady calls us to live her messages anew, for she knows they are the key to the spiritual gifts we so desire, an abiding peace and happiness, a spirit of love.
Living the messages of prayer, peace, penance, and fasting means, as St. Paul says today, to be formed anew in the image of the Creator over time. It means a new perspective, a new attitude toward life and death, where, as Revelation says, "He shall wipe every tear from their eyes", and make all things new.
On this feast of Mary, the Mother of God, let us recommit ourselves to her messages and her plan of salvation, which she is giving us, as she says today, "with great love towards God". In the words of the poet Joseph Krauskoph:
Dawns another year,
Open it aright;
Thou shalt have no fear
In its fading light.
Application:
Today, offer Our Lady a special prayer of commitment to living her messages in this new year. If you have difficulty in living some particular message, ask for the special grace you need to practice it in the year ahead.
This is also the World Day of Prayer for Peace. Offer a rosary for this special intention which Mary emphasizes so much in Medjugorje.

My very dear ones, I am your Immaculate Mother, the Holy One of God, your
constant companion in these days of struggle and strife and new danger in the
world.
Be aware of My presence, My dear ones. I wish to help you. I wish to
strengthen your prayers, and your praying, and your desire to pray. How I love
you, My children, My faithful ones! Please think often of how much you are
loved by all of Heaven. This will strengthen you and encourage you, My children.
It is a time of weariness from added chores because of these celebrations, this
wonderful feast of My Son's birth and, today, the glorious feast of the Holy
Family.
I remind you again, My little ones, that we are your family, that you
belong to us as child of the Father; as relatives in the great Communion of
Saints; related in Our love and gratitude to Jesus; related in love and

My children, do not dwell on events. O, become aware when there are tragedies

happening for you, My dear ones.
You are becoming the open, humble servants the
Father needs you to be, to be the vehicle of miracles, the vehicle of grace, the
vehicle of mercy, the vehicle of the Fatherâ??s Will for the entire
world. Think of it, My children. Think of it and rejoice. Rejoice with Me,
with the Holy Family of which you are a part.
My dear ones, you can hear and feel the love in My voice; and, in your hearts,
you know how much I love you. Thank you for loving Me. Thank you for your
devotion to My Jesus, all of the hours of adoration that have added up
throughout this year and all the previous years. You have become a mighty
nation for your Lord, a new creation in His Will.
I and all of Heaven rejoice
for you and about you, My dear ones. Believe My words. We will have success at
every turn at the proper time. I ask you to live the victory now, to live in
greater joy in spite of struggle. Think of the many gifts you have been given;
and you know, My dear ones, it is not because anyone is worthy but because of
the great love and mercy of our Father and Creator.
My children, we go forward; and we shall overcome and the darkness will
disappear and all will become light and be light, the Light of My Son, our
Jesus.
Amen, My dear, dear, dear, dear ones. Remember how much I love you.
How grateful I am for you. How much I pray and praise the Father for each of
you. You are My own, My dear ones. Amen, Amen.

-and now I see The Holy Spirit as a ‘DOVE’ on the-wall … and It’s coming from –the-wall- and is going around the room, and It’s going “through” everyone’s heart …
