Luke 2:39-40 Dear friends, When they (Joseph, Mary and the child Jesus) had fulfilled all the prescriptions of the law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee, to their own town of Nazareth. Luke 2:39 

 I spent a half-hour in prayer this morning and I was with Jesus, Our Lord, who said, Melvin, My brother and friend, I love you.

I have a message for you and for all My brothers and sisters living in every country in the world. It is well known that I grew up in the little town of Nazareth in Galilee.

I lived in a home where love reigned. Joseph, My foster father, was a good man who took care of My Mother and me with great love.  

My Mother Mary is the greatest example of a loving Mother the world will ever know. Her every action was done out of pure love.

She taught Me all about the Jewish religion and the ways of praying of My people. How I wish that every child would be brought up in a religious family like My family!

My great desire is that every family be built on love, love between the parents and love of father and mother for their children.  The children also have to love their parents in return.

It is in the family that children are to learn about My love for them and how necessary it is for them to follow Me. They are to learn their prayers and pray every day.  

The parents are to bring their children to church and when they are of age, they are to send them for instruction about My teachings as explained by the Church. Children need solid teaching about their faith and they need a good example by their parents of people of prayer who go to church regularly. 

Today the faith of many youth is very shallow because they were not taught at home and they did not have the example of parents who prayed regularly. Parents should pray with their children every day.  

I want to be enshrined in every home and live in the heart of every person living in that home. If you have a home blessed by Me, I will shower everyone with My graces and you will live in peace.

Medjugorje Day By Day Jan 03 - PERSEVERE IN FASTING "There is a mystery, the greatest of all mysteriesnot that my adored Lord is in the Blessed Sacrament of the Altar His word has said it, and what so simple as to take that word which is truth itself?

Mother Teresa  - The commitment spouses profess in their marriage vows is important. They accept each other in good times and in bad times.

I think that this is something that we should always try to do with a smile.

O God, how I desire that souls come to know You and to see that You have created them because of Your unfathomable love.

PERSEVERE IN FASTING Our Lady has a special request for us in the new year: Pray as much as possible and fast.

You must persevere in prayer and fasting. I wish that the new year be spent in prayer and penance.  

Persevere in prayer and in sacrifice, for I will protect you and always hear your prayers (First Years December 31, 1982). 

Fasting was an ancient practice among the Israelites. The following passage from the Book of Ezra dates from 500 B.C.: 

Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river Ahava, that we might deny ourselves before our God, to seek from him a safe journey for ourselves, our children, and all our possessions (Ezr 8:21). 

Reflection: Fasting is perhaps the most difficult teaching from Medjugorje, but its fruits are so astonishing that it deserves our special attention.

Consider the following: Through fasting and prayer, one can stop wars, one can suspend the laws of nature (First Years July 21, 1982). Pray and fast that the kingdom of God may appear in your midst (First Years March 14, 1984). 

Dear children, today I call on you to begin fasting with your heart (Weekly Message September 20, 1984). 

Live the message of fasting, for by it you will achieve God's plans in Medjugorje (Weekly Message September 26, 1985). 

Pray and fast, for I wish to purify your hearts completely. I wish to make you happy (Locution Jelena & Mir Jana February 14, 1984). 

We will look at fasting again later in the year, but for now, it is important for us to recognize it as one of the primary messages of Our Lady of Medjugorje, a message that brings extraordinary gifts of grace to all who practice it. Application: 

Today, make a decision to fast next Friday. It is perfectly all right to begin small perhaps by skipping one meal, foregoing a favorite food, or drinking tea instead of coffee; the important thing is to make a start.  

Don't forget to offer your fast for one of your prayer intentions.

JANUARY 1, 2008 AT 4:10 P.M. Anna Marie: My beloved Mother, I hear you calling. 

 My Lady, may I ask you please will you bow down and adore your beloved and holy Son, Jesus Christ, Savior of the world who suffered and died on the Cross for my sins and the sins of the whole world? 

Mother of God: Yes my dear one.  I your holy Mother Mary, will bow down and worship Jesus Christ, the Savior of all mankind who did suffer and die on the Cross for all mankind's salvation

Marie: Yes Mother, please speak for your sinful servant is listening. Mother of God: Little one, I am pleased you have hearkened to my call. 

My Son, wishes for all mankind to open their hearts and receive their Mother into their daily lives.   

This is why I have come to speak to you this day, this special day in honor of my Motherhood and in honor of all Mothers around the globe. 

Mother of God: Motherhood is by far one of the greatest vocations and gifts from God, our Loving Father.Mothers are responsible in the teaching and training of their children to love their Lord, to love their Savior and above all; to love one another on earth.
