Fr. Melvin Doucette Messages

“I bless all those who are faithful to Me”

Reading: John 17:1-26

Dear friends,

“I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit, because without me you can do nothing.” John 15:5

I spent a half-hour this morning in prayer with Jesus, our Redeemer and Friend, and He said, “Melvin, My brother and companion, I love you. I speak to you again this morning, My brothers and sisters, you who are close to My Heart and always ready to listen to My words. I founded My Church on the Apostles and it will last until the end of time. It is My ordinary instrument for the salvation of the peoples of the world. I have given you the Pope of Rome, the successor of St. Peter, to govern My Church and I ask you all to follow him. Those who follow him, follow Me.

Today in many countries there is division in the Church I founded. The evil one is at work to destroy My Church but he will not succeed. There are bishops and priests who reject the teachings of the Pope and follow their own ideas. There is a liberal trend in My Church now for a long time. Let Me point out some of these liberal teachings: 1. There are some bishops and priests who still advocate general absolution although this has been strictly forbidden. 2. Many do not follow the accepted norms for the liturgy. 3. Others do not pray the breviary, the liturgy of the hours. 4. Some teach that My followers do not have an obligation to go to church every Sunday. 5. Some speak in church in favour of women priests and married priests. (6) Some even teach that the Church should bless same-sex marriages. All of these and many others are false teachings for they are in complete opposition to what I gave the Church. I call you all to follow My Vicar on earth, the Pope of Rome, and you will be in complete agreement with Me. I bless all those who are faithful to Me. I love you.”

Holy Mass                   9:30 a.m. - little shrine of Our Lady of Prince Edward Island

prayer meeting            evening - Immaculate Conception Church, Palmer Road

P.S. I drove David Little home to Fredericton, N.B. on Monday came back yesterday afternoon. I met his wife and four children. They are wonderful children, three girls and one boy. I ask you to pray for him and his family. David has been fighting tax-funded abortions for many years. All Christians should stand up and work hard for an end to abortion in the world, following the example of David Little. We should never allow our tax dollars to be used for this crime.

External locution through Carol at Ameche Prayer Group, January 20, 2008

My dear children, I am your God and your Father. I am your Creator and your
Lord. I wish to speak to you this day, My people everywhere in the world, about
leadership. I have said to you many times that you are My leaders, the ones I
will count upon so very much in the future to lead your own groups of prayer, to
teach others to pray who have never prayed before, to be the example, to be the
one who speaks out and leads with your words, who is the first one to begin a
song and lead all of the others. If your heart is in your prayer, My dear ones,
your heart will be in your leadership. You will understand why this is so
important; why your leadership is another's salvation. It is another's
conversion. It is leading another to know how to pray, to hear the words, to be
encouraged to speak the words with their heart themselves.

It will not be so long before you are doing this, My children. You must
overcome your own attachment to yourself and to your comfort level that you have
enjoyed these very many years. They will be counting upon YOU! What you do for
them with your leadership, with your care for them, is your ministry to them, is
the mission I have given you. My dear ones, you can do this because I have said
it; because I have given you all the gifts you need to lead, to speak out, to
sing with joy. It doesn't matter that you do not have the kind of voice you
would like to have. It is My will for you. It is My joy that you are leading.
It is My joy that you care enough to give them the best of your leadership, the
best of who you are. It is not less than humble to speak out, to sing out, to
care about your brothers and sisters. Remember the dreadful condition they will
be in. Remember that sometimes during a prayer session, someone will have a
spell of fright again and begin to weep; a period of mourning over the loss of
their loved ones again and wail and cry out with grief. You will have to cease
what you are doing as leader, and someone else will have to pick up the
leadership of prayer and song. This is a community, My children. Start
thinking of others first. Start thinking of others needs, other than your own.

My sweet ones, I speak with love to you this day, because I wish for you to be
what My people will desperately need you to be. I am not scolding you, but I am
reminding you in a strong way what you are called to do and to be. Before you
were born, I chose you to be leaders. All of these years I have given you to
develop everything you will need to be and all the gifts I have given you. My
dear ones, please begin to support, begin to practice with each other, begin to
speak out, to lead with your heart.

These are important words to you and to them, and it means everything to Me and
My plan. Believe all of this. Listen to My words to you. Listen to My needs
for you. Remember that I tell you how much I think of you by what I expect you
to do for Me and for My people. I bless you again this day, My children, in the
name of Myself, of My Son and of Our Spirit. Be filled with Our Spirit, My
children. Be filled with the fire of the Spirit of Prayer that you bring to
your prayer. Remember how many will be counting on you and you alone. Do not
let this frighten you. Let this encourage and enable you. Amen, My dear ones.
Thank you for listening to these words. Please My children, practice them
everywhere in the world. Amen."

Medjugorje Day By Day Jan 24 - ST. FRANCIS DE SALES

Eucharist: the Source of Life!

John 14:6

Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but by Me."

It is a whimsical fact that a huge number of anti-Catholics spend enormous quantities of energy trying to prove that Catholics "worship Mary."

Even in an age of mass communication, this goofy 19th-century Know-Nothing charge is still leveled by people who really ought to know better.  And, of course, as with all such goofy charges (sustainable only by the ability to read minds) the Catholic has a simple reply: "I don't worship Mary."

The reply is based on a simple fact: if you cannot read minds, the only way you can know what somebody worships is to ask them.  If they say they do not worship Mary then that's that.  End of story.

Yet the golden opportunity (tactically speaking) that many such critics of the Faith overlook is this: though Catholics don't worship Mary, we do worship the Eucharist.  We really do hail it as the "source of our life" and adore it exactly as we adore God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Of course, it's still not idolatry for the simple reason that Catholics believe Jesus wasn't kidding when He said "this is My body" and that to worship Jesus is what the Christian faith is all about.

In a thousand different ways, you must reflect the light of Christ through your lives of prayer and joyful service of others.

Mother Teresa  -

We need to give Christ a chance to make use of us to be his word and his work. If we do not radiate the light of Christ around us, the sense of darkness that prevails in the world will increase. The people around us should be able to recognize him by our union with God.

Padre Pio - If we want a harvest, planting is not so important as sowing the seeds in a good field. When these become plants, great care must be taken that the tender little plants are not suffocated by weeds.

 Archbishop Fulton Sheen -

The Destruction of Responsibility

"Hardly anyone today challenges the view that character is made by outside or external influences, such as home background, schooling, poverty or wealth, the propaganda to which an individual was subjected and the neighborhood in which he was raised. This view could lead to the destruction of responsibility if carried to extremes - and responsibility, it must not be forgotten, is the mark of freedom."

St. Faustina's diary  http://www.marian.org/directory_flash.html  -

On one occasion, I saw Jesus in a bright garment; this was in the greenhouse. [He said to me,] Write what I say to you. My delight is to be united with you. With great desire, I wait and long for the time when I shall take up My residence sacramentally in your convent.

My spirit will rest in that convent and I will bless its neighborhood in a special way. Out of love for you all, I will avert any punishments which are rightly meted out by My Father's justice. My daughter, I have inclined My heart to your requests.

Your assignment and duty here on earth is to beg for mercy for the whole world. No soul will be justified until it turns with confidence to My mercy, and this is why the first Sunday after Easter is to be the Feast of Mercy. On that day, priests are to tell everyone about My great and unfathomable mercy.

I am making you the administrator of My mercy. Tell the confessor that the Image is to be on view in the church and not within the enclosure in that convent. By means of this Image I shall be granting many graces to souls; so let every soul have access to it.       (570)

MEDJUGORJE DAY BY DAY

These thoughts for a day are taken from a daily meditation book based on the Messages of Our Lady of Medjugorje by Father Richard J. Beyer, Ave Maria Press.

Jan 24 - ST. FRANCIS DE SALES

The Blessed Mother speaks of holiness today:

"Dear children, today I again call you to pray with your whole heart and to change your life day by day. I especially ask you, dear children, to live in holiness through your prayer and sacrifices.

I desire that each of you who have been to this fountain of grace shall come to paradise one day and present to me a special gift--that of your holiness.

Therefore, dear children, pray and change your life that it may become holy. I will always be close to you. (Weekly Messages November 13,1986)

St. Paul's letter to the Ephesians also deals with holiness:

You were taught to put away your former way of life, your old self, corrupt and deluded by its lusts, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to clothe yourselves with the new self, created according to the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness (Eph 4:22-24)

Reflection:

St. Francis de Sales exemplified holiness in his life, which was characterized by a supreme trust in God. Born at Savoy in 1567, he worked tirelessly to restore Catholicism to his country after Reformation.

Later, as Bishop of Geneva, he became renowned for his compassion to his people and priests. Because of his insightful writings he was later proclaimed a Doctor of the Church.

The following excerpt from his classic work, The Devout Life, deals with trust, that mark of holiness which Our Lady and St. Paul speak of today: In all your affairs, rely wholly on God's providence...

Imitate little children, who with one hand hold fast to their father, and with the other hand gather strawberries or blackberries along the hedges.

So too, as you gather and handle the goods of this world with one hand, you must with the other always hold fast the hand of your heavenly Father, turning yourself toward him from time to time to see if your actions or occupations be pleasing to him.

Above all things, take heed that you never leave his hand or think to gather more or to gain some advantage. For should he forsake you, you will not be able to go a step further without falling to the ground.

Application: Today, through the intercession of St. Francis, pray for a deep trust in God that banishes all fear and doubt.

Medjugorje Day By Day Jan 23 - BELIEVE IN HIS CURE

Whenever I go to the chapel, I put myself in the presence of our good Lord, and I say to him, 'Lord, I am here.  Tell me what you would have me to do ' . . . .  And then, I tell God everything that is in my heart.  I tell him about my pains and my joys, and then I listen.

If you listen, God will also speak to you, for with the good Lord, you have to both speak and listen.  God always speaks to you when you approach him plainly and simply" (St. Catherine Laboure).

Mother Teresa  -

Sacrifice and prayer complement each other. There is no prayer without sacrifice, and there is no sacrifice without prayer. That is what Jesus has shown us. Jesus' life was spent in intimate union with his Father as he passed through this world doing good. We need to do the same.

Meditations by Padre Pio -

Let us never oppose the designs of divine providence, which, alternating joys with tears in the life of the individual and of nations, leads them to the achievements of our last end.

Let us look beyond the appearances of the hand of man to discover the hidden hand of God.

Archbishop Fulton Sheen -

We need to help illuminate the world

"We do not make children give up writing because they spill the ink. The world is discouraged enough; it needs encouragement, inspiration, good example, above all, it will be happier when it sees a standard and a Redeemer Who invites us away from the dark side: "I am the Light of the world; whoever follows Me, shall not walk in darkness" (John 8: 12).

St. Faustina's diary  http://www.marian.org/directory_flash.html  -

As God has made us sharers in His mercy and even more than that, dispensers of that mercy, we should therefore have great love for each soul, beginning with the elect and ending with the soul that does not yet know God.

By prayer and mortification, we will make our way to the most uncivilized countries, paving the way for the missionaries.

We will bear in mind that a soldier on the front line cannot hold out long without support from the rear forces that do not actually take part in the fighting but provide for all his needs; and that such is the role of prayer, and that therefore each one of us is to be distinguished by an apostolic spirit.      (539)

And always and in everything, their intention should be pure, for every sort of mixed motive is displeasing to God. They should accuse themselves of all external transgressions, and ask the superior for a penance. They should do this in a spirit of humility.

They should love one another with a sublime love, with a pure love, seeing God's likeness in every sister.

Love should be the special characteristic of this little community, so they must not close up their hearts, but embrace the whole world, rendering mercy to every soul through prayer, according to their calling. If we live in this spirit of mercy, we ourselves will obtain mercy.     (550)

MEDJUGORJE DAY BY DAY

These thoughts for a day are taken from a daily meditation book based on the Messages of Our Lady of Medjugorje by Father Richard J. Beyer, Ave Maria Press.

Jan 23 - BELIEVE IN HIS CURE

In the first week of the apparitions, the parents of a deaf and mute child asked the visionaries to intercede on behalf of the boy. The seers asked the Virgin to cure the child so that people would believe them. She responded:

Have them firmly believe in his cure. Go in the peace of God (First Years June 29, 1981).

Little Daniel Setka was cured later that same evening In the gospels, Christ also focused on faith as the foundation of healing:

Then suddenly a woman who had been suffering from hemorrhages for twelve years came up behind him and touched the fringe of his cloak, for she said to herself, "If I only touch his cloak, I will be made well."

Jesus turned, and seeing her he said, "Take heart daughter; your faith has made you well." And instantly the woman was made well. (Mt 9:20-22).

Reflection:

The power of faith is limitless: it heals, consoles, and strengthens. But the opposite is also true. Once when Jesus was visiting Nazareth, he could work no miracles there because the people's lack of faith distressed him so.

How to deepen our faith? Cardinal Newman once said: "It is love that makes faith, not faith love." And Our Lady gives this answer: "Faith will not know how to be alive without prayer. Therefore, pray!" (October 10, 1981)

The healing of the handicapped child in Medjugorje; the cure of the hemorrhaging woman in Matthew's gospel, were both dependent of faith. May our own healing of body, mind, or spirit also be the fruit of our expectant faith.

Application:

Pray today for a deeper faith; ask for healing if you are in need. Assist someone who is sick through your presence of prayers.
